Obviously he didn't or he would have waited to travel, winter storm warnings for much of the south was on all the news this past week, and travel advisories everywhere.
Nothing beats some good ol' Americana. I've missed the roadside oddities and tourist traps so much. Thanks for doing this road trip! Videos like these are my absolute favorite. There's no one else I'd rather follow on a cross country trip!
Agreed! My work and family life would never allow me to do this type of adventure but I'd love it. Its great being a passenger on the Grand Tour of I10 with the ATW as the captain. And thanks for all the wonderful sidetracks along the way, many long forgotten.
Hobo Joe's was a chain of coffee shops--each one had a smaller version of the statue you saw. They had great breakfasts and hamburgers, served with a freight train motif.
In the 70s there was a Hobo Joe's coffee shop a mile away from where I live. The Hobo Joe statue had a small dog at his feet and he was holding a tooth pick with a cigar butt.
Having just watched your friend Jacob the Carpetbagger Dixie Highway series, I am really looking forward to your travels. Please be safe and enjoy your discoveries.
Hobo Joe in Buckeye was repainted and put back in a place of honor by the Main Street Coalition. He was sculpted by a Disney Sculptor- I am surprised that you missed that fact. The woman who pushed hard to have him restored was Charlene Broadbent. She loved the City off Buckeye and the Mayor fought her on restoring and replacing him in the city because he didn’t want Hobo Joe to be a symbol for the city. She had land donated by the Youngker family. Charlene placed Hobo Joe such as the Mayor can see him from the third floor of City Hall. Sadly my friend Charlene passed in January 2021 from Covid 19. May she Rest In Peace and Humor knowing great people like Adam will have Hobo Joe and Buckeye living on for thousands.
This is so exciting! Safe travels! Feel like a kid on Christmas morning thinking about all of the amazing vlogs that await us! Can't wait to see you back in Florida! 💞
Glad to see you're on your way! Love how your stopping to show off these lovely places! Oh and Remember to be ready for the fees when transferring the car title and such! Have fun and keep an eye on the weather!
Hobo Joe's used to be a restaurant chain in the late 60's and disappeared in the late 70's. The statues used to have him holding a stick with a bag on the end, and there was also a small dog at his feet. This statue is a throwback for me, as I remember eating at those restaurants when I was a kid in Phoenix.
I have owned copies the first 3 of the 4 seasons Airwolf was on tv for many years now (DVD), and I surprised myself that I knew and remembered the actual episode name of "Sweet Britches" (Season 2; Episode 1) just from the scenery before Adam said they were featured in Airwolf. In between watching this video I watched that episode in its entirety. What a good memory jog since I have not watched an episode for a couple years now. Thanks for the jog down memory lane, Adam. :D
Adam so excited to see you back on the road again. This is where you do your best work and I'm sure I speak for everyone.Take your time with this trip and relax and enjoy our beautiful America.
This is going to be so much fun, just what I needed! I'm so tired of all these holidays wiping me up! Husband passed ,I'm tired of crying! Thank you Adam the woo for taking me away! Please drive careful! God bless you for being so special!!!!
I said the same thing to my daughter! We saw a Paul Bunyan and Blue Ox more than 20 years ago when visiting my cousin in Eau Claire, WI. We live in a suburb of Milwaukee.
Another interesting tidbit about that stop where there was a demolished lower torso next to a cleared out restaurant. It was a a complex that included a restaurant (Nickerson Farms), a gas station and a trading post. The legs belonged to an Indian statue outside the trading post. The restaurant was known for producing its own honey, so I found it interesting that Adam found a bee in his steering wheel.... www.placesthatwere.com/2015/11/arizona-nuthouse-and-demise-of.html
Hello Adam I can’t wait to see what this journey brings. Please be safe and have fun. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us and I’m glad you’re heading back to Florida Disney world misses you.
Drive carefully. I know you are taking the southern route, but even in Texas they are having wicked winter weather. Thanks for taking us along with you!
Hello friend, to answer some questions, the flowers were lantana, the drum object is an antenna of sorts. The figure by the Nickerson farms was an Indian standing next to the trading post store/gas station/restaurant that used to be there. It was actually a super cool place that used to sell fresh honey and, had this super rad window you could see the hives, probably why there was a little bee that said hello. There is also a pretty neat little aviation museum near all those planes. Safe travels to you and thanks for showing some weird stuff throughout Arizona on its 109th birthday.
The dinos look kinda cute with their overlays painted on them.~Never knew the origin of the line in the middle of the road. Learn something new today.~ I could almost feel the cold coming through my phone as I watched your video with the wind noise. 🥶~ Your car is getting dirt on it now so you wanna wash it. When you get to Florida the pollen is everywhere and that will be covering your car in no time like it does mine. Lol.~ Enjoy the open road and the journey. Be careful out there with the black ice and snow. I am sure you will see it along the way. 👍
Hi Adam, I absolutely love these kind of videos, driving and exploring 👍 Looking forward to your adventures!I enjoy your interesting and sometimes hilarious narration especially when you encounter wildlife which I’m sure is going to happen along the way😊
Thanks Adam, love these videos the most. Would never get to see these things if not for you. For those of us that can't travel we get to explore with you!
I'm days behind on catching up on vlogs, but I am soooooo stoked to "get started" on this trip!!!! Yyeesssss!!! Just the briskness of this first day has me excited!!! And already, a great start with "no, not the backside of water", LOL. I am so gonna love going on this road trip, except it sux that you're going it alone. That said, Adam, please stay safe, and thanks for bringing us along 😁👍
Man Airwolf was the best show! Great memories watching with my dad, I had a HUGE crush on Jan-Michael Vincent. This place is amazing! Thanks for showing it Adam 👊🏻
How exciting your back on the road.. Love watching your adventures like this. Disney is great but time for a change. Love learning about what you come across. Thanks Adam, safe travels
Awesome. We went to the Air Museum in Tucson a few years back, is up the road from that ‘boneyard’ of older aircraft. You would love it, so many pieces of aviation history. :). Safe travels! Happy to follow along :)
One last comment as the temps here in Texas drop and the snow continues to gather: Really liked this entry. Hope you have a safe journey to Florida. Thanks for the sites. Take care.
Well it started here...I watched this whole road trip. Wasted my whole day and got nothing done!!! Thank you Mr Woo for the lil mini vacation. It was interesting to say the least. Kinda made me giggle at times with the snow situation, I live up north...so we're still waiting for warmer weather.
Adam, I just love your road trip videos and really enjoyed your video! Oklahoma is in a snowstorm be careful when you come thru Oklahoma and stay safe. Thank you for taking me to places I'll never get to see!
I love your California Vlogs and Cross Country Tours Great to see America through your lens! The Muffler Man reminded me of a depiction of our famous Paul Bunyan from my home state Minnesota! Thanks for the vids!
Adam, welcome to Arizona! I too was on I-10 between Phoenix and Tucson yesterday, Feb. 13th. Just think, I was traveling the same road as The Daily Woo! Hope you enjoyed your stay!
Praying for your safe travel as you head back to Florida. Looking forward to seeing all the sights that are off the highway as you travel along. Big the Foot gets to go along on the road back east to Florida. It’ll be interesting to see what the gas.prices are along the way. Be safe. God bless you
Ah yes the cross-country journey! It's not a matter of if, but when, when will rode craziness set in? That yard with the 👍 had a massive amount of fantastic in it! I think that Muffler Man missing the torso was actually one of the old Indian chiefs with his hand extended. I believe there's still one around Cherokee North Carolina. Enjoy the open road my friend.
Adam - Pick a place to hunker down for a few days. It is stormy and C-O-L-D pretty much across the country right now. We just finished a meandering cross-country trip along the I-10 corridor from the Florida panhandle to Benson. AZ, where we are right now. Travel Safe! There is snow, ice and wind where we passed through in New Mexico and Texas just days ago when it was in the 70s!
I love all your adventures.... but nothing in the world is better than The Woo on the road again!!!! I can't WAIT to see where you wander to.... I keep hoping for the Grotto in Iowa.... but that is NOT on the way to Florida... Just have a wonderful and safe time!
Good luck on your long drive! My husband has made that drive a few times helping our daughters move back and forth from Utah to Florida. They have been able to see a lot along the way though😊
"I guess it helps...to read." LOL! I never knew that that Hi Jolly gravesite was there! I will have to hit that place up when I go through that area again. Thanks Adam!! And judging by you taking your own car to Florida we should not expect you back here in California for a while. See ya when you return...
What a rockin vid to wake up to in Valentine’s! Pink Dino ftw! 🦕💕 And don’t worry, it’s toasty here in FL! 🔥 Tell ‘em the Epocot large barge sent ya! Safe Woo travels!!!
Ooow I am excited for this. I just love your road trips, safe travels Adam and can’t wait to see where you take us this time. 👍 I love the cactus 🌵🌵. Always remind me of the High Chaparral which was my favourite programme on a Saturday morning growing up in the UK 🤣.
That's what I'm talking about! I'm buckled in and ready to see roadside America vicariously through you!
Gonna be a fun ride
Hopefully you checked the weather. Your path to the south is showing some severe weather the next few days. Be careful and have a safe journey.

Be careful if you're coming through Texas in the next few days. It's like an Artic tundra currently!! Have a safe and fun trip!
Yes! San Antonio is below freezing level and many businesses are closed because of it. Please be careful!
Absolutely I'm here in Texas to and it is awful
I know how you feel -2 and counting here in Missouri 🥶

I believe that first “muffler man” is actually Paul Bunyan, hence the ax vs a muffler. Born and raised in MN and looks like familiar Bunyan
@@Mama32566 Yes! We have family pictures in front of Paul Bunyan and Babe the blue ox from a family trip

Yes, Adam got it wrong, Muffler men were repurposed Paul Bunyan statues.
