Great video! I am being told that there will be a special Metrolink running from LA Union station to Downtown Perris for Pacific Railroad Society's 80th Anniversary bringing guests to the Orange Empire Railway Museum and possibly may do runbys along the Perris Valley line north of the downtown station on 1/21/16 so if you want to catch it. It should be a standard Metrolink train with possible private railcar "National Forum" in the consist. Also at OERM, they'll have places open to the public where they can't usually visit and operating their steam locomotive VC #2.
I'll be heading over there next Friday to ride 735/411 to LA and take 706 directly back there so I can ride the new PVL as well as the Riverside Line and the 91. I've only been on the OC, San Bernardino, IEOC, Antelope Valley (LA-Santa Clara), and VC (Burbank to LA). I can't wait for the day to come.
Typically Metrolinks have the red marker lights on for the locomotive as well when pushing. It seems like the Perris Valley Line sets the engine nose light on dim instead of using the marker lights, most likely in conjunction with freight operations along the line.
I think its on all lines now because last November I took a Metrolink on the ventura county line and I got off at van nuys but I notice that as the train left to go back to union station, the F59PH that was in the consist had its nose light on.
Yeah, it might be. I just went Railfanning today as well and all the Metrolinks were lighted that way too. It could be in affiliation to a change in FRA rules.
Gloria Marquez Not exactly. At South Perris, there are usually four trainsets that are stored there overnight. Three of them head all the way to Los Angeles, while one set runs back and forth to the Riverside - Downtown station throughout any given weekday.
Gns Vista Metrolink currently doesn’t have any plans to specifically extend service to Palm Springs; however there has been talks about establishing Amtrak intercity rail (similar to today’s Amtrak California routes) between Los Angeles and Indio, with new stations in between. It is still in the planning phases, but it has gained a lot of public interest within the last few years.
Outside of the cab, yes. Anything you hear next to the locomotive, you’ll hear outside the cab. Inside however, would depend on the sound insulation of the cab specific to the locomotive type and model.
@BrentNguyen46 Ok, the only EMD Steel Bells I hear are on the Surfliner Cab Cars, which don't click as loudly. And Graham White 373 Electronic Solenoid Bells don't click due to the nature of E-Bells. When you revisit the Surfline, will you visit the ARTIC, as it wasn't complete the last time you visited the station?
Surfliner486 Yes, a couple of times a week to pick up and drop off cars at local industries. The furthest the local goes is just east of the 215 freeway at the lumber yard. (I managed to catch a local in one of my upcoming videos at Moreno Valley / March Field Station)
SouthWest Rail Productions They definitely should. I used to own a house out there less than a mile from the rail line, so it's something I would love to see, although it might be a while until that happens. The track going into Hemet has become rather bad and some areas are completely torn up.
Great video!

TheSd90mac-Railfanner Thanks ! Yeah, I'll see if I could go. Definitely sounds interesting.

This line is a great alternative to travel to Knott's Berry Farm. Especially after a full day at the park, who wants to drive on the 91 late at night?
Has anyone else noticed that whenever a Metrolink is in the push service they put the nose light on with their F59PHs and F59PHIs?

Sad to this new line not being used that much... But nice video too!
Train Shack Productions Yeah. It should increase as time goes on. There were a number of people checking out the stations, and thanks !
I might be 1 year late, but Perris Downtown is packed every day.
@@therookie9276 And South Perris?
It depends what day, like monday, wednesday, and friday is packed alot.
Cool!
Awesome Video
Thank you !
First time videos on one of the new stations! Yay!
Yep. Also got videos on the way of the other three new stations.
Yeah. Looks like it's one of your New Year Resolutions.
Cristian Trejo Haha, yeah. Never thought of it like that, but I guess I can agree with that ! :)
Do they use only one train set

If it extended to palm springs, there will be lots of riders. Will there be any plan to extend it to palm springs?

+TheNazar123 I've noticed that too
Should you be able to hear the clicking of the air valve from outside the cab?

Yep, definitely. ARTIC is on my list of upcoming stations to film at for sure.
Nice!
OceansideRailfan Thanks !
Do any BNSF locals ever come by anymore?

They should have extended the line to Hemet

Right?!
