We lived in Annapolis for six years, and the Chesapeake can get rough quick. Our worst was getting caught out crossing it in a 22 foot center console. I was a little scared! Enjoying your videos!
Enjoyed the video and your trip, thanks for sharing. The Meridian did well. The Wasp is an Amphibious Assault Ship. It basically carries Marines around and their aircraft.
Glad you made it out of Portsmouth alive and with all your belongings........Highest crime city in Virginia. USS Wasp (LHD-1) is a United States Navy multipurpose amphibious assault ship
I am catching up on your adventure. Thanks for refreshing my memory. I couldn't find the free dock, and anchored by Fort Monroe. I took the Virginia Cut route, and had Prime Rib @ Coinjock, when I made this trek in my sailboat.
Pretty interesting to see you going through Norfolk knowing that I was likely on duty on my ship when you were coming through. I didn't see mine on the video but I saw plenty that I recognize. DDG 72 Mahan, DDG 107 Gravely. Pretty sure I was moored up behind Mahan at that point.
Really like your sharing your stats. You mpg is very good. I run a 40 ft diesel on the bay and dont get much better than you are getting. Averaging 15 knts we use about 120 gal every 8 to ten hours. Hope to someday make the same trip. Good luck and looking forward to all your future videos.
Same here. I look forward to seeing those on every trip. We run a 42 foot with twin 370 HP diesels, and we can eke out 2 miles per gallon if we keep it around 5 knots. But, just going up to 7.0 knots changes it to 1 mpg. And, up on plane, it goes to two gallons per mile and only gets worse the faster you go. We go slow a lot! Having diesel prices double in our area hasn't made going fast any more fun, that's for sure!
Multiple friends got caught 2 years ago coming up the bay. Cabins were a mess, refrigerators emptied, windshields broke. The worst any of them had been in. 2 of them left their boats and ubered home
Obviously you don't cruise the Chesapeake much. Southeast winds blow water into the bay (high tides will be higher), and Northwest winds will blow water out (you might see botton in some creeks). Long fetches can build some impressive waves.
I hope you guys had a chance to get a cold brew at Legends brewery. It just recently closed... unfortunately, the bums and thugs drive business out of this town.
Have been watching and enjoying your videos. Just watched this one and I can’t tell if that storm was one that just blew in really quickly so you couldn’t duck in somewhere and wait it out or did you decide to just push ahead and get to you destination?
Normally, that dock is not like that. The tides were extremely high that day. I dock there all the time, since my home is a 30-minute boat ride from there.
Yeah that red sky in the morning is never a good sign. Enjoying the series.
Just wanted to say thanks again for doing these videos. This series and your videos in FL are my favorite. I appreciate what you do!
You would think they would raise the dock. Way to go Mr. Engineer
Love these adventures
Pretty wicked storm… glad to see you made out ok.

Looks very much like a storm I ran into in the Delaware River...Crazy and out of no where!!
Looked like Bertram weather to me!

What are you using to track/plot your daily usage?
Awesome video .... But you guys got to put out the trolling rods come on. You guys miss some good fishing right there by the Bay bridge tunnel

Be nice if you would show some bar/ restaurants on some of the stops!!
Coming up! Keep following along!
If you ever want a useless deck hand on your next icw journey- let me know!
PORTSMOUTH VA WAS BORN THERE IT IS LOVING CALLED BY LOCALS THE ARMPIT OF VA! LOL
OMG. Did you flip the hard hat over to see if there was a body on the other side?
Omg I hope not!
Why did you make this trip? (Hope I didn't miss that part)

We did toss a few back at Legends. It’s a shame it closed. Great location close to muni docks. More lawlessness taking another city down.

We thought we would miss it and we’re close to protected waters so just pushed on.
Regarding the dock under water in PortsMOUTH, you get what you pay for as they say😄
Someone actually got paid for that job. Lol

It didn’t bother us at all. Was quite amusing. We surmised over cocktails the engineer probably wasn’t very smart. Lol
What model and size boat do you have? It looks like about 35'
2006 341 Meridian sport bridge with twin 6.2 Mercruiser inboards.
@@AdventuresofHappyOurs Beautiful!! 😃
Red skies at dawn sailors be warned
Why the slow ride, your boat should comfortably cruise at 22knots
Easier on the motors and the pocket. 7gph vs 36gph
Port’smith’ not Ports’mouth’ 😊
Yes we know. Just being funny.
😮 U Always Have That 1 ,,,,
But Such A Classic Answer ,,,, 😂😂!
It’s strange how nothing seems to be funny when moving through a storm on the ocean .
Calling that a storm 😂😂😂😂😂😂
