I just started to learn how to tie flys a couple weeks ago and I’m really excited to use this pattern. Thanks for the awesome video and making it easy to follow!
I really like the color combo on this one, especially the blended buck tail on the top. I just picked up a bunch of materials that came in today from hareline and I got several of the colors of aqua veil. I bet the mountain blueberries would look good with this fly, especially given the color choice of bucktail you used. Thanks for sharing.
Such a great fly, thanks for the video! Do you ever add a short shank hook in the tail and if so does it matter where? Would love to see more lafkas flies too, especially the super cougar. That thing looks sweet!
I love this!!The colors are awesome. I would love to see it in the tank.feel free to send me one. I guess I"m . gonna try and do one myself. gotta tell ya I really enjoy all of your videos keep em coming! I know you have said it before but what eye are you using??
Thanks for the new spin on the Deceiver. I haven't used the articulated spines yet and noticed you didn't tie in beads between the hook and connecting spine. Is it not needed because of the movement created by the spines? Thanks again, Brian!
Hey Jim, if you are using the spines in a "Game Changer" style I don't suggest beads. Beads will make more of a space between the hook and the spine which will add at least a little bit of a gap. With spines we aren't looking to create a gap, we want them to be as close as possible.
Hi Brian. Just watching the deceiver fly using fish spines. Two questions. First is the 7 inch fly a good size for smallmouth? Also. Do you like this better than a straight old game changer. Seems easier , more simple? Thanks for all the videos. Best Dave
There are going to be differences in how this one swims over the regular Double Deceiver. It will definitely have more tail kick, especially in side currents, but it is also definitely more time-consuming to tie. I like to have some of both, just to spice it up.
Probably not the most attractive color combination to me, but I'm not a fish. If the fish like it 'tis beautiful to me! Keep the good stuff coming Brian!
@@flyfishingtheozarks I guess I would be more worried about the connection wire. But maybe since it's just used to connect the shanks it shouldn't matter. *Shrug* but I do love the fly! I'm gonna give it a whirl! Thank you!!
@@flyfishingtheozarks well, to be honest I like a lot of metal but that's not really a good fit for tying flies. Perhaps some up-tempo acoustic guitar jangling away would be a good option? Background music should be just that. I can't fault the flies/tying and general production. Your content is quality but the music does let it down occasionally. There's my 2 cents. Cheers, from England!

Music great as always ... It matched the color of the fly 😆 love this channel
Haha, THANKS!!!
You sir, inspired me early in my fly tying.....and you still do!
Cool! Neat to hear! Thanks for watching!
Absolutely beautiful tie! Love some of those in my box!
They are SUPER solid flies.....and a lot of fun to fish!
Thanks Brian, another good one!
Thanks!!

You 'could' put a smaller shorty hook in there.....but they never swim the same when you do. I like a single hook changer-style fly a lot better.
Color combo is killer! Music was not that bad ya big babies.
Love that color combo....almost a Sexy Shad color.
Could see that being a killer pike fly, especially if sized up a little bit. Awesome tie
Absolutely!
I still love all your videos!
Thanks, Kannon!!
First appearance on UA-cam
Great fly..Thanks

Dead Meat Customs, check out the link in the video description.
Thanks very much!!

@@flyfishingtheozarks Thanks, Brian. I figured you left them out for some reason. Not wanting a gap makes total sense.

Is this not just a bucktail gamechanger?
Sweet bug! Is the super cougar up next😂
I always leave some flies on the table for me to circle back around to......that is one of them. Up next ------ Andreas Andersson's "Sisu"
You can say the ‘T’ word, it’s called build ‘Taper’ 😁
1 hook?
Yup 👍
Great video as usual :)
How big is this fly in total, and what WT rod you need to cast it?
Do you put schlappen like this )( or like this () ?
This fly ends up around the 7" mark. I am an 8wt guy. Schlappen like () 👍
@@flyfishingtheozarks thanks a lot😁🤘🏻
I REALLY wanted to see that beauty swim
The NEW swim tank is on it's way! Swim videos will be back for the next video.
@@flyfishingtheozarks YESSSSSSSSS

Slayer next time
🤘🤘🤘
so can this fly standup to say a musky chomp?
Absolutely! Tons of Musly flies are bucktail based.

Enjoy your quick tying videos, but man I hate that music!
Wow.... worst music in a fly tying video EVER. Great fly, loved the video, just watched most of it on mute lol
Yeah, it was atrocious.
Suggestions are appreciated......as long as you don't say bluegrass, classical, or country.
So what's wrong with bagpipes or the synthesis thereof? It's readily apparent that you're not Scottish!

Well, just press the mute button, problem solved
