The look like the offspring of a chinchilla and a gerbil if such a thing were possible. Absolutely fascinating critters. I have to my hands full with my current ensemble of critters but I would love to keep these some day.
I wish I had done more research before purchasing my degus, because I listened to the pet store and bought the wrong type of habitat for them. Pet stores will tell you ANYTHING to sell you stuff. They should know better because they're dealing with live animals. That's what gets me angry. And so I recently purchased one of those Critter Nation Model 162 for my 2 degus and they love it. The habitat is very roomy, allowing them to run, climb, and jump. They get tuckered out and sleep in between playing. And of course I have an exercise wheel in there as well.
I think his cage is awesome compared to all the other people on UA-cam that have way smaller cages and less equipment for the degu to use. By far best cage I've seen
having seen this on Gerbils it's either boredom of incompatible Degu's , with Gerbils they didn't entirely like earch other, but they'd tolerate each other. They do like to interact with um you. Degu's are also nocturnal so if your waking them up during the day too much... who knows
Ohhh!! So cute. We have 3 goos and the same type of running saucer, but slightly bigger. I love watching them run on it, with their widdle booties bouncing so fast and cute. Best twerkers and pets.
Balding at breeding time can be because one degu is trying to mate with the other even if they are both males. I had this happen a couple of times the more dominant one pesters the other one. I found once breeding time is over (late winter to early spring) it normally grows back.
DodoDawg for example we have oné degu too because she was growing up really alone in petshop. And it s better for her but she has many love from me and my family i love her😃
Need to oil that saucer. Probably better though to get an actual large wheel. These guys are too cute, I want a couple lol. I've always had gerbils, hamsters, rats, and hedgehogs. I've never heard of these before.
Heh I'm the 1000th like. That's never happened before. Degus kinda look like the love child of a guinea pig and a chinchilla. They seem like nice pets though I've never seen one in a pet store before.
One of my degus, Ernie, has the same bald spot. This is due to my other degu, Bert, fur pulling. They had a stressful past history and I am not suprised this happend. Alas, they are both on the mend, living a stress free life now with plenty of room to run around and hidden treats to forage! Check out Degutopia about fur pulling....good tips!
loving the flying saucer wheel, gonna replace my standard wheel with one of those. Looks like one of your deg's has had some hair shaved on the top of it's back? Was that for an in injury?
Lol they are so cute! especially when they sniffed the camera -3 and their wheel is really loud lol :P Btw Random question: where did you get your cage?
I had one Degu and he was very lonely. When I bought one more Degu, he was very happy and attractive. I think it is better if you have two Degus. (sorry for my eglish) :)
Did you construct the cage or buy it like that.I am possibly acquiring two little ones.Someone is getting rid of the parents and the two babies.I don't think I can take on all four.We have 4 cats and 3 hamsters already.I really like your setup though. What cam are you using it's so clear :) thx for the upload
I love your cage but the noise from that wheel would drive me crazy! My degus just have a metal wheel which is nice and quiet :) I need to add branches like yours though!
sorry for my english, I think your cage is just fine. I had a smaller cage for mine two sweathearts and they didn't get bald. i can't tell you the reason but maybe she/he scratch somewere in the cage. I hope your sweeties are fine ❤❤❤
That spinning plate is not good their backs. They run in a curve like position which will damage their backs over time :) The one with missing fur looks like a hybrid of some sort ? :P
Hi chick pea love you so much for the first time in the morning and evening entertainment for the message and occasion making it a bit like that and I am not going to be very grateful for any damage caused by the end result
You should definetily get another one, or maybe even 2 or 3. Degu's need company and they're a lot more fun to watch in a herd. Just don't mix male and female or you will have more of them then you like to very soon ^^ I'm getting degu number 3 and 4 for the same group early next week ;)
Amadeus Frost it’s caused by boredom, the owner needs to constantly change the items in their cage around and buy new ones to keep this from happening. Unfortunately they’ve not done this and the baldness comes from boredom and stress
The bald spot on his back is from fighting/playing, Sometimes they just pull out the hair. Its normal, if the spot gets a weird color go to the vet n.n
Wies Schuil if they’re fighting it’s because they need a bigger cage and better care. Rats are the same way like that and will bully each other with excessive grooming and fighting
I noticed one of Your degus got a bald spot at the back. It's either because of grooming by the other degu or caused by some kind of fungus that may live on the skin. Have You tried to make it dissappear ? Had 4 degus in total, last 2 passed away 1 year ago and one of them had same spot at the back but I couldn't cure that.
The look like the offspring of a chinchilla and a gerbil if such a thing were possible. Absolutely fascinating critters. I have to my hands full with my current ensemble of critters but I would love to keep these some day.
LITTLEMUSTANGFILLY Yes, it’s a very good idea to ave degus, they’re the cleanest rodent available as a pet. They’re very timid but sm
@@margueriteginn4479 not the cleanest, but close. First place goes to gerbils
lol GEEEEZZZ that wheel is LOUD.
yeah
Well degus are pretty loud
Very cute. I would recommend getting a slightly longer cage for more floor space and hang ropes and fleece hammocks. Like rats they quite enjoy these.
I wish I had done more research before purchasing my degus, because I listened to the pet store and bought the wrong type of habitat for them. Pet stores will tell you ANYTHING to sell you stuff. They should know better because they're dealing with live animals. That's what gets me angry.

they are both adorable 💖 they're like a combination of all my favorite rodents, in 2 little packages... super cute
So cute!! Thanks for the inside look
I think his cage is awesome compared to all the other people on UA-cam that have way smaller cages and less equipment for the degu to use. By far best cage I've seen
No, its bad. But ye some people have smaler cages but its still bad becouse the degus get hurt by them selfs buying small cages
just because you’ve seen worse doesn’t mean this is good lol
You need a larger cage, the baldness you see on the back of your one Degu is called barbering and is due to stress and boredom.
+Torie Polywoda Poor fellow
+Torie Polywoda well at least he was kind enough to get two thats the main thing the noise might be stressful. oil the wheel :D
having seen this on Gerbils it's either boredom of incompatible Degu's , with Gerbils they didn't entirely like earch other, but they'd tolerate each other. They do like to interact with um you. Degu's are also nocturnal so if your waking them up during the day too much... who knows
+Lee Bartholomew Actually, they are one of the few rodents that are NOT nocturnal.
As Christine said, they are not nocturnal, but they can become nocturnal if you don't make sure they are stimulated enough during the day.
Ohhh!! So cute. We have 3 goos and the same type of running saucer, but slightly bigger.

We used to keep pet rats and thought they were noist. Oh but they are cute. And that noise is adorable. Just wish we had the space
I have 3 female Dégu 😍 it's so cute to see then talking together 😂
Sooo cute!I have one degu named Cookie, and he is very playful!
that is a good and cute name
you cant keep degus on their own, in the wild they live in large groups
DodoDawg for example we have oné degu too because she was growing up really alone in petshop. And it s better for her but she has many love from me and my family i love her😃
Nice cage set up for them and homemade exercise wheel!! 😂 So cute!!!
this camera quality is amazing for a video that came out in 2011
It's like a 'watching Degus at the petstore' simulator :D
I have 2 degus and one of them is white which is a rare colour and the other one is brown with a white dot I called them salt and pepper 😂😀
I did not know that they came in white
Donna Timmreck There are many colours of degus including black degus www.degutopia.co.uk/degucolours.htm
White isn’t a rare color. There are many degus that are white. Whoever told you that it’s rare obviously didn’t know what they were talking about
Need to oil that saucer. Probably better though to get an actual large wheel. These guys are too cute, I want a couple lol. I've always had gerbils, hamsters, rats, and hedgehogs. I've never heard of these before.
i especially love that bubbling sound they make to eachother :)
they talking:)
I miss my old mans ones they all got very very old and died off its so sad there majestic lovley regal creatures
I used to have a degu called Gringo. Oh the love!! I miss him.
Heh I'm the 1000th like. That's never happened before.
Degus kinda look like the love child of a guinea pig and a chinchilla. They seem like nice pets though I've never seen one in a pet store before.
cool
They are soooo freakn cute.
my degus was listening and started taking back to them
My guy degu mc queen is out here shreding the plate
Ale kochane, też mam takie ślicznotki ☺️ Film dodany 12l temu to pewnie już masz kolejne, inne koszatniczki...
Impressive enclosure ♥️
That crazy running, im died XD XD
Hup hup hup They jump so fast lmfao it's not even running anymore like a fast kangaroo
Isn't it dangerous having cotton that they can swallow available to them?
One of your Degus missing fur, which means he lacks vitamins. I had same issue, but was able to solve it by constantly keeping their food pot full.
apart from my non-sense comments... wow that flying saucer is a cool idea. I would have never thought of that.
Degus are the best.
loving the flying saucer wheel, gonna replace my standard wheel with one of those. Looks like one of your deg's has had some hair shaved on the top of it's back? Was that for an in injury?
I read they mainly do it when they are stressed. The cage could be to small or something.
finally an animal video shot in HD
I own 7 degus they r seriously cute!!!!!:)
So adorable !
One of your beautiful degus has rusty tail ! Whow ! I have four degus.
Kochane śliczne koszatniczki.
This cage is wonderful ! :O
That saucer exercise wheel is awesome. It looks a lot safer than the vertical wheels (if it were to fall the degu could jump out).
Lol they are so cute! especially when they sniffed the camera -3 and their wheel is really loud lol :P
Btw Random question: where did you get your cage?
They are cute!

thx for the upload
You should get a dynamo or motor on that saucer you could have them generate energy for you :) i like the sounds they are making to each other :)
Hey I would to suggest a running wheel instead of disc
I forgot how funny and silly degus were :3.
Cool things. I've read that these are the smartest rodents apparently.
they are so cute im gonna have two in one month!:)
Did you get them
omg amazing vid, camera is REALLY good
I love your cage but the noise from that wheel would drive me crazy! My degus just have a metal wheel which is nice and quiet :) I need to add branches like yours though!
nice cage...and nice DEGUS :)
nice cage...and nice DEGUS :)
sorry for my english, I think your cage is just fine. I had a smaller cage for mine two sweathearts and they didn't get bald. i can't tell you the reason but maybe she/he scratch somewere in the cage. I hope your sweeties are fine ❤❤❤
SO. FREAKING. CUTE.
Hey, cool video, and nice video quality, what camera did you shoot it with?
Nice came out good
That spinning plate is not good their backs. They run in a curve like position which will damage their backs over time :)
The one with missing fur looks like a hybrid of some sort ? :P
best camera i've ever seen.
Hi chick pea love you so much for the first time in the morning and evening entertainment for the message and occasion making it a bit like that and I am not going to be very grateful for any damage caused by the end result
What camera did you use? Its amaaaaaaazing!
This is so cute omg I have 3 degus Stuart scarlet and Bell
better quality then real
They ALL are!
That wheel is much too small, the poor animal is running always to the right :(
My degu had too,few moths later he died,so iIdont know,I hope your degu gets better soon :)
ISN'T COTTON DANGEROUS FOR THEM? THEY COULD CHOKE :S
BlueGirl0306 No.
The Bassics Yes.
wow! best cage ever
This is so cute
He's using a Nikon D7000 with a 20mm f/1.8 lens.
Poor degus they should live in the wild on my country :c thats similar as a jail
You should definetily get another one, or maybe even 2 or 3. Degu's need company and they're a lot more fun to watch in a herd. Just don't mix male and female or you will have more of them then you like to very soon ^^
I'm getting degu number 3 and 4 for the same group early next week ;)
Why does he/she have a bald patch on it's back ? :o
but they are still cute :D
Amadeus Frost it’s caused by boredom, the owner needs to constantly change the items in their cage around and buy new ones to keep this from happening. Unfortunately they’ve not done this and the baldness comes from boredom and stress
I might be getting two of these! A women wants rid, and i hope i am in time to get them, they might have gone back to the shop :c
my degu is having the same bald problem that yours has. i dont no how to stop it, its because the other one is more dominent.
This definitely was not filmed on a calculator!!
what camera did you use to this video ?
was this shot with gods very own camera :O
bout time you washed that wheel its grotty with dried on Pee
I got deus there adorrrriiiibbllee
great video ..what are the spots on the back?
I have sandcolored degus they are so cute but sometimes bit me
ok i need a degu NOW
Ohhh so sweet 😍
The bald spot on his back is from fighting/playing,
Sometimes they just pull out the hair.
Its normal, if the spot gets a weird color go to the vet n.n

My degus always fight so we have to keep them in different cages.
I'm crying bc one of my degus died a few days ago and I miss their talks so much😥
what camera do u use
This is so cute and funny :')
The shaved back is usually fur loss I used to have it with mine but the fur grew back it's usually caused by stress or a generic fur loss disease
degus are awesome! :D
In the other video from this uploader in description he said it's from their fight, they are both males ^^
Is degu an aggressive groomer? One of mine would develop that bald spot on her back. I like the cage set up and good video :D
Actually they are but it depends particular degu in person
Thinking about getting two Degus how big should the cage be so the bald spot doesn’t happen and they don’t get stressed out?
What did you use to record this? Brilliant quality
as written in the title. It has been recorded with Nikon D7000 and 20mm lens.
