  • I can't remember a time when tools like Inkscape weren't in my design workflow. But I've recently discovered Kittl, and I will never look back.

    Thanks Steve! This looks like software even I can use. My husband spends hours designing in Lightburn because I’m not as software savvy as he is. I know he’d love to offload the design stuff to me instead of having me hover over him while he creates 😂. I do miss the old days where you could buy software instead of subscribing to access software but it’s the way of the world now.
    Thank you for doing this review and for sharing the fruits of your research; I bet you’ve saved a lot of people a lot of time and strife! Have. Great weekend!

    I was thinking that this software would help my new adventures in lasers, but when I got 11 minutes in the Background feature sold me! I make many wood products, and struggle to get any consistency in my photos for sales. This will help immensely !
    Thank you once again Steve for sharing your craft. I even subscribed today. (No idea why I hadn't yet, sorry)

      This was a pleasant discovery for me too! It's not perfect sometimes; so you may have to run it a couple of times to get what you want, but for me that's a tax I'm willing to pay.

      Not many additional tips. Use bitmaps when you can, and if you are using SVGs, make sure to ungroup everything before trying to load it into Lightburn. Lightburn doesn't hand groups in SVGs very well.

    I just realized that my membership to your channel is not under/connected to our laser channel called Cut It Out. Heavy sigh. This is my lot in life; I am clumsy online.
    Anyway, as I said in the other post, this is fantastic content and I’m looking into this software as it really is something even I can use. The AI generator is really compelling.

      Hi Dana, no worry since I enabled both of your accounts on my member site. However, if you want to switch for billing reasons, you can do that since there isn't a subscription to this. You just want to do it at the right time of the month so you don't effectively get billed twice for the month.

I effervesce with ideas I want to pursue (and I’ve gotten a few more orders) so he’s thrilled to be able to offload some of the design stuff, if not most of it, to me. @@danameek5843 Thanks for the endorsement - I'm just happy to be useful to the community. I want to do a couple more videos for other things I've learned about Kittl that save time or enable capabilities that I didn't have before.

    • @danameek5843
      @danameek5843 8 місяців тому +1

      Hi Steve, I think we are going to pay for a month at $24.99 because we are both interested in the AI aspect and then, if it pans out for me which we both suspect it will, we will buy a year’s subscription. I use Silhouette Cameo’s Design Studio software successfully and have for years, in addition to Embird embroidery software and Kittl looks friendlier and vastly more powerful than either of those. In addition, I see a lot of similarities between Design Studio and Kittl, so that shortens the curve for me.
      As for the community, you’ve already done so much to help us; I appreciate the candor with which you present your content. Your sincere interest in contributing to the maker community shines through in every video you post. I am grateful to have found you here as you are a valuable resource. I hope I can contribute in a meaningful way some day.

      Canva was the other tool I looked at, and it is quite powerful too, but it seems more targeted at business/marketing tasks. I just found it more awkward to use than Kiddl because I think it is for a different job than the one I'm trying to fill.

      @@SteveMakesEverything Thank you, Steve. I primarily use Corel, after 25y I can zip right thru things. And RE3 is junk for designing. I started with Canva for graphics, but am intrigued by the AI integration with Kiddl. Time to check it out.

      @@dian3145 As always, use what works until you discover something better. I just latched onto Kittl quickly, so I'm going to stick with it for project-type graphics design. • @SteveMakesEverything
      @SteveMakesEverything  8 місяців тому

      There is a free version you can play with that can play with bitmap formats. If you want to export vector formats, then you would need a paid plan. It depends what you do with your laser - if you are mostly engraving images, then the free plan may be all you need.

    Why would you go through all this effort for that sub-par results? Just use image dithering instead of trying to re-invent the wheel.

    • @SteveMakesEverything
      @SteveMakesEverything  8 місяців тому

      Image dithering? Compared to grayscale? Grayscale is far better than dithering. Thing were gray before they were dithered, so not reinventing anything.
