I love my midwest rails and have had no issues with any. Mine are the ones specifically sold as 'lightweight' combat rails btw. Same deal with Aero S-One. They are lightweight rails, but I've loaded up a 14" with lots of NVG stuff for a long time and have never had zero shift. Another thing I would point out is the design of the MI with the holes running just under the top picatinny allows zip-tying of cables. It SUCKS to deal with cables on a rail without them.
The only genuine dud of a rail I've ever had was early on when I cheaped out and got an AR Stoner lightweight one.
Those AR stoners are BCA barrels.
If it’s good now, leave it alone. I have two of the quad rail varieties and have stripped the helicoils out of the rail on one rendering it unusable because of a piece of steel wire.
Here we see a professional with good audio quality and a nice setup. And then we have a man who can’t even be inside of a house to stream but still has to deal with children. Hasn’t been a single stream where he has seriouslu added anything of value that isn’t outweighed by his nuisance behavior.

“Bendy bill” came from the Mk16, not thr 13/14. It was because the Mk16 bent during SOCOM trials. Then Bill ended up suing at least one person for speaking poorly of his handguards. Geissele hace since made minor updates to the Mk16 that they don’t acknowledge, such as curved internal bends near the gas tube instead of square cuts.
Yes correct, however the information put out about the bending and how isn't exactly correct and was crazy how something so small and a joke got out, to have people go crazy and slam it this long

Crying baby was pretty wild. I mean he is doing this to try to build his guntube reputation to make money so I don’t feel bad criticizing him. The weight of quads is far overblown, Hop even made this mistake hard. He compared a quad and mlok of differrnt models, but when comparing like-for-like (such as RIS II vs RIS II, or QRF vs MRF (BCM)) a quad is only ~3 oz more on a 10.5 rail and rememeber that half of everyone uses pic accessories on their mlok handguard with added-on rail sections for all that added weight anyways.

Knocking down proprietary components because you cant change them in the future is mostly a youtuber problem.
Normal people will buy a rifle they want and won't mess with it, or build a project gun where they keep changing comonents and wont buy the proprietary parts.

I've always liked STNGR rails, good lock up, anti-rotation tabs, $100-$150 depending on the type and length, made in Texas.
The Parent in me struggled to follow with a child in need, vocal in background. Maybe just me but it's like hearing a baby cry... you just want to fix the whining or crying as a parent. Or at least for me I changed the channel. I truly mean no disrespect

I have ran the faxon carbon fiber handguard for a few years now, and yeah it's on a lightweight gpr build (no nv stuff). What i have found to be nice is during multiple range days over the years in 90-100+ degree weather, i don't need gloves to hold on to my rifle/handguard, even tho the rifle is baking in the sun, or hot from multiple strings of fire.

A2 handguards are A tier. They protect the hand, are strong, and cheap. Cost/benefit ratio beats every possible rail you could think of.

IMO the Zev, Icon, and SOLGW 7075 drive lock rails are the absolute best on the market.
Definitely hard to beat.
One of the rare people who is actually on the market. I honestly need something that interfaces with the upper receiver at several places.
Buying a DD rail outright for 500 bucks is probably the most smoothbrain thing someone could do, especially when Brownells sells DD URGs with CHF+CL Socom barrels AND the rail.
Centurion was not mentioned, however. Fantastic rails, especially at 240 for their 15in rail.
Meanwhile, I'm still over here simping for the original Geissele 416-SMR.
Every part of me except my wallet wants to throw a RIS II rail on my rifle. I want to be able to free float a grenade launcher that I'll never own 😂
@@ALovelyBunchOfDragonballz the ohhunt ris ii clones are very comparable to the real thing. I have one on a block2ish m4 (I did have to modify the bayonet lug) and a brownells mk18 urg. They are almost exact in lock up and rigidity. Plus they are affordable!
The ris ii …. You have that plate that goes over you upper receiver threads, it has anti rotation tabs in that plate . Your barrel nut cranks down tight against the plate locking it into the upper. The topmost part of the rail is held in with 4 bolts near the receiver going towards the handguard , the bottom most part fits up in then locked in by 2 bolts near the receiver going towards the upper basically reverse to the other 4 bolts. The sides then get the screws to hold the top to the bottom.
I have an ohhunt ris ii clone and a brownells mk18 urg, and the lockup is absolutely incredible. And you say it’s for the free float grenade launcher, but it’s crazy functional and rigid (not to mention that vibe you get 😉)

DPMS g2 rails would be great. It's a great platform. And deserves a chance to be seen again. When I hand people my JAKL, and my SF308, they think they're the same caliber. Mostly because the JAKL is heavy. But the .308 is very light
In my opinion the aero enhanced should rank much higher. As you said, for what it is designed to do, I think it is hard to beat. It would be better if it was higher grade Al, but it would also be pricier. Seekins precision said in their own promo video for their own system that bedding the barrel vs not, pinning gas blocks versus not, no matter what they did in all their testing for improving accuracy of the system, nothing worked as well for them as when they truly free floated the handguard and attached it to the upper rather than the barrel nut. So seeing as aero built a really beefy upper extension and uses large screws to secure the handguard, I think they did what they set out to do. Obviously I think it could be improved, but it is available all the time from tons of vendors in multiple colors and lengths and affordable for a proprietary system. I think they should have stepped down the diameter after the attachment section but the wide diameter is good for keeping your hand away from the radiant heat from the barrel. I think they should have done 7 sided mlok, and I think they should have given more clearance to the pic rail so it would accept any attachment. But it flexes less when put under load then the cmt, the kak, even then the geissele mk16. So it doesn't contact the barrel nut and it flexes less than many S tier options, it's affordable and available, and sgt of arms makes a version with seven sided mlok and an arca rail on the bottom. As far as options for high value precision guns I think it's the best we got. I think they should have made the rail more like cobalt kinetics style, but I think it some respects it's better than the LWRC. For instance, seekins also said that even if you attach the handguard to the upper, you still need more material in that region or else that region is flexible, and Aero has far more material there then LWRC, that aero extension is a big chungus, but it is lighter than many s tier options at the same time. So better harmonics, more overbuilt extension, less flex on the handguard, lighter, and basically the cheapest proprietary option while simultaneously being the easiest to get in the most length options. Idk, I think it is a high S tier option and imo where ar15s should go generally. I would love if the aero enhanced upper became the new standard and other companies made handguards for it, I think that would be ideal, or I wish aero would improve their design by making it step down and then mimic the geissele and cmt profile after the proprietary extension with an arca and no arca bottom option, but it's still what I'm going to build my 16" proof research 6 arc gun with as well as my 20" proof 6.5 creedmoor with. I would also take it over my geissele upper and handguard for my 11.5, as it, like my KAC sr15 14.5, both get very hot after a lot of shooting, and I think the extra standoff of the rail from the barrel would help with that. I also want the accuracy improvements it offers even in my 11.5. You can never have a gun that is too accurate or a handguard that is too rigid, even on an sbr.

Some company needs to make a handguard that has quad rails, mlok, keymod, sling mounts, and enough clearance to shroud a suppressor. That would look great on my Meme AR with underfolder AK stock!

A surplus ras/ris unless you paying clone prices for some reason is a winner on tiers. Cheap and work.
Sons ditched the wedge lock for the drive lock. The mounting design on the drive lock seems a little more robust. Pretty clever lock up design honestly.
Carbon handguards are great for hunting rifles, particularly because of the thermal properties as mentioned. Though I like the tube feel of the PRIs over any of the mlok ones like faxon
They can also be easily shaped by the end user. I have a Faxon with a 10.5 and a piston OS by Superlative. They touched ever so slightly, and it bothered me so I sawed off half an mlok on the 12 o’clock and it free floats now. Super light. Low gas. Perfect for suppressed home defense. Who’s putting nods on in a real home invasion anyway…

Says who? I have a mk2 upper with a Geissele mk16 and one with a larue rail.
There is nothing special about the handguard compatibility of the MK2 upper.
It's their quad with some rails milled down into MLOK. Its going to feel weird without covers (like a MK4/MK8 rail) and its probably as rigid as the quad.

The Knights Armament URX 4 is still the greatest! Just a single piece of aluminum forged into the shape of a handguard barrel nut crossbreed.
Ar’s -> qc mattered
Optics -> mounting options mattered
Rails-> qc nor mounting matters.
It still matters, but it's usually not the QC issue. LMT screws up barrels and BCGs, not so much their forgings.

I havent tried many rails but I was getting my mk14 rails for less than $150 a few years ago and they included the geisele gas block. ive got 5 uppers with mk14s of different lengths. S-tier in my opinion.
I lucked out hard and caught 2 MK4 Fed rails on blemish sale, and one was the older, original style of MK4 Fed which is 10" but has a shorter bottom rail like the normal MK4.

The 6061/6065 thing is because the rails start as extrusions its really hard to extrude 7071/7075

Love Midwest as a company and like their scope mounts (although I wish they’d put the QD levers on the other side), but I’ve had issues with every one of their handguards (4) I’ve had.
What issues have you had?
@@strappinheat4146 bent anti rotation tabs, handguard flex, handguard rotation (due to clamp/tension force not being tight enough even though torqued to spec, then above spec). Just not a fan of the short barrel nut relying on clamp force to stay tight. I have several BCMs and while I’m not a fan of their short barrel nut either, the engineering of the BCMs is much better (very tight fit of handguard to barrel nut and anti rotation steel tab is a very tight fit to upper receiver vs. loose fit of the MI).

Alg rails are heavy and they are not slim. I have 4 of them. You also failed to mention that the timing of the barrel nut has a very intuitive system with the nut wrench. You can time it in one go.
Something I don't like about BCA handguards that I just thought of... a lot of M-Lok attachments, I have to change out the screws, because if you use too long of a screw, it'll touch the barrel... which I can use the same screws on other handguards I own no problem...
That is true, the slimmer the handguard the more issues you can have.

PSA Sabre line has 1-2 rails that are very similar to geissle rails. Has anit rotation tabs, steel locking screws, steel qd insert with m lok.

JAG composites makes a pretty nice (expensive) carbon handguard that fits on the Aero Enhanced uppers. No first hand experience but I've thought about trying one.

STNGR handrails? Pretty good budget value & warranty from my experience.
I bought the dd m4 and didn’t think I was going to swap the ris2 but I did so idk if buying something means you won’t swap out the handguard. I think that happens pretty often even when you have one of the “best” handguards included
I'm seriously looking into the Aero Enhanced raik for a Radial Delayed SD build. It will allow me to tuck that SD suppressor and has a quad rail version so I dont have to worry about MLOK nuts hitting the can. Not sure if I'll do an enhanced upper or just the handguard on a standard upper though. I like the Aero uppers.

@focustripp , I got a question. I was looking into getting a spare BCG just to have on hand and wanted a microbest. I noticed PSA sells a PSA branded microbest BCG... is the QC done by microbest before they send it to PSA? Pretty much just want your opinion on it... I'm weary of buying it b/c of the PSA branding...
Don't get PSA branded parts. Find a genuine microbest or AO Precision BCG.
PSA microbest BCGs are somehow worse so I don't know.

He didn't give the O2 lite a fair shake. I have one and It's been on multiple rifles for years. It's really great. I have not experienced any bending.
It's fine for a range gun, I would not run one in a serious application.
