Thank you so much for your kind and friendly words ☺️🙏🏼 I’m glad that I can provide with these little information I know and very happy to share with others 😊
Wow! Thats great. You show a kinda simple straight to it approach. I always wanted to try portraiture, but too difficult. The way you demonstrated that makes me feel I can do it. Reminds me a bit of a John singer Sargeant. Hope you do more in that same style. Thank you.
Thank you! I’m happy you enjoyed it 😀 I love Sargents portraits 😊 it’s actually simple but needs a lot of practice and Not giving up! I tried to show as simple as possible to follow the steps. I’ll try to do more demo alla prima painting 🎉
I always say that in art, less is more. When I see those 10 or 12 step portrait painting demos in books I always think the portrait looks much better at step 5 or 6 than it does at step 12.
I agree with you! It doesn’t need to be complicated. If you have basic drawing skills and understanding values it gets much easier work with colors. By practicing you eventually get there. I’m still practicing 😊
My reference of success portrait is rendering equally! Or even better of the model, yours is from my point of view above the modèle figure! Even if this model face is beautiful.
Hi Milo, Please, I have a small question. It is known that turpentine is volatile, and the question is: If I mix turpentine with oil painting will it also be volatile in this case?
Yes. That’s correct! I use turpentine in the beginning ( first layer ) it helps to cover the big shapes very fast and underpainting gets thin and washy which is nice and dry very fast. You need less and less turpentine on other layers instead if you want it Volatile use linseed oil ( dries slow )
@@Milozandiart Ok so just for future work. Never do that. It is 100% going to fall off. Acrylic cannot properly adhere to oil. Vice versa absolutely. I get if this is just practice and you don't care so much, but rest assured it will flake off if that is oil underneath.
@@Milozandiart Yeah acrylic gesso is fine as a primer. I'm asking if you've put gesso on top of a previous oil painting. That you can't do. When you primed that panel in the video it looked like you had a previous painting on there.
@@majorhughes2791 Oh now I see what you mean. Sorry. Yes I did. I do that to paint over Just for studies and it’s cheap to reuse ♻️ materials 😅 thanks for your attention!
I have zero ability at just about anything that's not a vice. But I couldn't help notice her left nostril looks a little odd. Not judging. Just curious. ✌️
Thank you for your comment and attention to the details :) I have mentioned before this is really not about 100% likeness. It would take much more time. I painted this in one sitting 2-3 hours. It’s more about approaching the technique I use ☺️

Excellent, great demo!
Thank you my friend ☺️
Beautiful presentation, thank you.
The woman pictured is Evelyn Nesbit, who, shall we say, led a colorful life.
Thank you! Yes. Beautiful model, I love to draw/paint her 🤩

I really enjoyed how you painted this potrait. You nailed the likeness and I think your version of the Zorn palette really works. Many thanks!
I’m glad to hear that 😃 thank you! I love limited ( zorn ) palette to work with 🎨
Wow great video!
I love this Sargent's loose style. Congrats

@@louiswolfe5012Yes! It can be many steps. But simplifying as much as possible is the key 🔑

If you need "...raw umber to knock down the white...." then use raw umber in the gesso!!!! And a broad brush to "lay off" the paint!!!
shes great

Beautiful! Will the neck remain unfinished?
Thanks! Yes. I mainly focused on the face.
How do you make it look faded like watercolor?(First layer)
I used liquin original winsor & newton! Turpentine works fine too :)

Ok so quick question. Acrylic over a previous oil layer?
Yes. Just a Gesso ( acrylic White Gesso) to primer the panel :)

Linseed oil and Windsor & newton liquin original :)

Очень хорошо. Техника оригинальная. Но, маэстро, левый глас на портрете-косит. А так всё класс.

Miloz whatz wrong with her eyes buddy
Nothing! It’s me 🫣
Very nice. But its not the same woman.

Really bad portrait painting shows, because you don’t even catch the main point on the face, it was distorted.
Ok! 😅 where is the main point?maybe I can’t paint better But I’ll try harder. Thanks for your comment!
