One thing I wanted to highlight as for Nahaba. Everything changes when you listen to the song having lyrics in mind. It is about the singers being under missile attack under the broken glass failing everywhere and the man singer screaming to her not to cry. This voice is sooo on point if you think about it. It reflects anger, horror, agony. It is just hard to understand without english subtitles. 😪
Nahaba is actually my favourite. I don't usually listen to this kind of music but I love it nevertheless. My other two favorites are Ingret and Ziferblaf. Have been sitting and watching you bashing all of them 😂

Mélovin’s song is SUCH a bop and I’d be v happy if he came back to Eurovision, but there’s something about Alyona and Jerry’s song that really touched my soul. I think it’s quite special, and on first listen it made me a bit emotional even though I didn’t know what they were singing about. Definitely one of my favourite songs of the season so far - I’d absolutely love this to go to Eurovision and I think it could do really well.

Nahaba are very close in emotional terms to the widespread mood in Ukrainian society. It's a cry of pain, aggression, holding back tears to be strong because there is no other choice. Unfortunately or fortunately, Europeans are not close to this, so it's unlikely that the subtitles have made up for it. Just wrong audience.
Hi Shane! My favorite is Anka "Palala" (burning). I'm digging the rhythm so much. It's impossible not to in my opinion. The singing element "whoo whoo" makes it catchy. And the fusion of modern production (dance music) with traditional folk elements makes this unique. Love the flute and how the instrumentation interacts and supports the rhythm. It's dynamic and I can't possibly sit still. Really like how the instrumentation builds towards the ending. She has played the flute since she was 3 years old, sang in folklore groups and is a songwriter etc, I read. The song is somewhat short, wonder if they have any thought to develop it. It was a pretty "even race" for me between this one and Alyona Alyona & Jerry Heil. I am touched by this song in a different way, by the lyrics and the spiritual. I really liked Jerry Heil's song last time. While I absolutely love this song and what's characteristic of Ukraine, I wasn't as immediately hooked. Maybe because the song hasn't so much ups and downs harmonically. It's quite linear but it also fits the somewhat more serious message that I embrace. I really like it, especially the choir elements that give it a special touch. I also like Ingret's song, what a voice! 🙂🌺💖

I really liked this selection. My favorites are Alyona Alyona & Jerry Heil, Mélovin and Yagody but bonus points for Ingret! Buuuut I've seen that Yaktak and Mélovin both got quite a few dislikes and from what I've been told by Ukrainian fans online, their stans are, let's say, quite intense (and borderline disrespectful to the other artists) and so those two songs get backlash for that unfortunately

Ah Shane, I have finally got round to checking this out after posting my Vidbir reaction today. I have got Melovin as my favourite and Alyona/Jerry at my number two. Like you, I didn't care much for 'Under the Ladder' either interestingly enough. But 'Dreamer' is much more to my taste. We share four of the same songs in our top 5's. I replace Ingret with Yagody. And yes Shane, prefering 'Slavic English' over 'Tsunamia' is very questionable taste. Even I am gonna call you out on that one 🤪🤣

It's a tough one. Firstly, I know we have differed in our opinions a bit jn the past but I have appreciated out brief exchanges. Secondly, thank you for continuing to engage in my channel when (now you have confirmed) my tastes maybe more in line with a taste that is not yours. Thirdly, I am empathetic to your comment in regards to not much diversity on UA-cam of views/opinions. Unfortunately there is ALLOT of content on UA-cam that just comes from an echo chamber of 'what is the favourite/fan favourite'. Lastly, and linked to my previous point, I would be upset if you thought any of views or tastes was calculated (to be in line with popular views)...I have always tried to make a point of saying "this is my taste" and not divulging from that. By this point it would be clear if I was not being truthful as I think most people get my tastes now!

Man, I hated hated HATED Slavic English. I consider it an insult to all the people who fought for the spot won by Palala, because they were all better than that pandering piece of nothing. You didn't like Yagody, but I do. Melovin is also good. Your favorite has a bit too much religion for me, especially since it praises Mother Teresa, whom I consider to be no saint.

Love that Ziferblat actually came second and got first by the jury if im not wrong? No hard feelings and I always enjoy your videos but im actually starting to be SOOO OVER what alot of eurovision fans (basically white gays between 16-39) post on twitter and UA-cam with their rankings and takes. Like its such an annoying bubble and I'm starting to like them be proven wrong after the finals💁♂️...
This isnt about you really but when i see 90% of "fans" put songs like this last or songs like Ireland, Malta, Luxemburg high and Albania dead last, its mind boggling
It's a tough one.
Firstly, I know we have differed in our opinions a bit jn the past but I have appreciated out brief exchanges.
Secondly, thank you for continuing to engage in my channel when (now you have confirmed) my tastes maybe more in line with a taste that is not yours.
Thirdly, I am empathetic to your comment in regards to not much diversity on UA-cam of views/opinions. Unfortunately there is ALLOT of content on UA-cam that just comes from an echo chamber of 'what is the favourite/fan favourite'.
Lastly, and linked to my previous point, I would be upset if you thought any of views or tastes was calculated (to be in line with popular views)...I have always tried to make a point of saying "this is my taste" and not divulging from that. By this point it would be clear if I was not being truthful as I think most people get my tastes now!
