i know Im asking randomly but does anybody know a way to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly lost the account password. I would love any help you can offer me.
@Josue Finn I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now. Takes a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Something I don't see people talk about in regards to Clear Sky is how you can bypass that early Cordon machine gunner really easily. Once you exit the Swamps, instead of trying to make it past the machine gunner, just turn around and go back into the swamps. There is now an alternative exit to the Cordon in the northeast corner of the map.
I know you haven’t uploaded in a year or so but this right here I really enjoy I just wanted to hear some “hateful” opinions of the game I really enjoy so dearly but your version of hate is literally points that are valid the only thing is upgrading the accuracy is the only way to play villna game imo cause other wise bullets will just stray where ever they please but some mods really make the game fun and better in my opinion but this video 7 mins in is just so spot on to what I’ve been playing the past 90 hours of my free time it’s amazing
Frankly i'm just happy to hear you ramble on! Good show. Anyhow i'm wondering whether your going to do a 2015 in gaming vid wouldn't be surprised if you didn't but i'd like your thoughts on MGSV in some detail. I'd actually settle for a review of Outbreak, but i like surprises... Great work again Roland!
Just a small correction. CS is about Streloks first trip to zone, before geting captured by monolith and beign reprogrammed and sent to zone as one of their s.t.a.l.k.e.r. agents, which led to starting cutscene of SoC.
I tried playing this piece of shit because I love the first S.T.A.L.K.E.R., then got stuck in invisible walls for half an hour because the game consistently forgot to draw the 2D barbwire fences telling you where the invisible walls were (and they're absolutely everywhere), so I went on to act like a mime (at night!) for a while and just uninstalled the game in frustration. Fuck Clear Sky.
+Ghost81 Oh, hello again. I don't know much about the development of Clear Sky, but from what everyone is saying, it seems slightly... rushed. The first game took years to make, changing names and pitches with the seasons, but this one came out a single year after the first game, is buggier and, while prettier, crashes constantly due to the extra load. Would it really have hurt to take an extra year? Or did they have a deadline to make?
Jacob Smith Yeah it's a cashgrab. I mean: I'm actually in favor of companies making a "more of the same" game by recycling assets from a recent success (FarCry 4, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Serious Sam TSE, Yakuza 4...): I think it's fair for them to try and capitalize on existing assets with people ready to pay for more of the same experience, but I at least demand that the game be properly finished. While I can forgive putting out an uninspired "through-the-motions" half-sequel, I just can't excuse an effort like Clear Sky.
+Ghost81 Fuck Clear Sky, indeed. Roland says there's a lot to like about Clear Sky, but I call bullshit on that. Pretty much every mechanic in the game is either broken, near broken, not broken but half-assedly implemented, or tedious as fuck. There's nothing good about Clear Sky outside of its very pretty DirectX 10 visuals with bump mapping and sun shafts and all sorts of pretty shit like that. I adore STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl. One of my favorite games of all time, easily. Clear Sky, then, is one of my most hated games of all time. Without the STALKER name and the setting of the Zone, I would never have continued to play it, because it would've just been another tedious piece of shit, but no, it was part of the STALKER series and its story tied in directly to the first game, so I HAD to beat it. And even after I went through all of the typical STALKER gameplay turned to shit with the open world and such, I then was left with one of the most frustrating, pathetic final stages in any game I've ever played. FUCK YOU, STRELOK. STOP FUCKING TANKING GAUSS ROUNDS AS IF I'M HITTING YOU WITH SPITBALLS. PLEASE STOP, STRELOK, I CAN'T AVOID EVERYONE ELSE'S BULLETS WHILE KILLING YOU BEFORE YOU GET TO THE TOP. PLEASE, STRELOK. I SWEAR TO GOD, I WILL BOOT UP SoC AND MURDER YOU A THOUSAND TIMES OVER. God, FUCK this stupid fucking game. The mere mention of it angers me in the way that only Fallout 4 can. *sigh* There's my rant. I'm almost positive I ranted this angrily about Clear Sky on his review of Shadow of Chernobyl, but time does not make me hate this abomination any less.
+Aedan Clarke :) I think you might have ranted thusly before. Now that Call of Pripyat is available, there's almost no good stuff in Clear Sky. The only good stuff is a few of the cool maps; Red Forest was alright (but a bit railroady, stupid Forester compass crap), and I liked the big shootout in that town-place. The upgrade system is the same but better in CoP, so that's no longer a draw. However I can't recommend the game to anybody because the early part of the game is a slog. The swamp intro is a boring, tedious crawl. They should have ramped up the artifacts and gear much faster. The story is also some bogus-ass-shit, and why the hell did it have to end with a "boss fight?" A REALLY bad boss fight, since at least fighting the occasional super-mutant was fun in the first game. Aaaaaaand it's about as stable as the stage at Kamp Krusty.
As for stability, the game didn't crash on me, but it was certainly buggy as shit. In fact, the situation with the bandit camp was totally different for me. In my game, their doors sometimes closed, sometimes didn't. Once, I did a raid and they didn't close their doors. I went in, killed EVERYBODY... and nothing happened. I left the game running for half an hour. Nothing. Was never considered 'captured', the shitbird neutral stalkers didn't take a shitting step to meet me at the hangar and take it. The swamp, IMO, is the least shitty part of the game. Unfortunately, it's also boring, but at least it doesn't make me so pissed that I go back to biting myself, which is something I used to do a lot when I was younger, but RARELY do now. (And the biting myself bit is because I'd rather bite myself than break a keyboard or a controller or console or whatever.) The thing with the swamp is that it, too, is buggy, and confusing to navigate, and just kind of shit. It's just LESS shit, but at least you can take 3 steps without yet another group of bandits spawning in. In terms of tone, it's the closest the game EVER comes to feeling like the first game, before it proceeds to throw all that shit out the window and play like a really bad, bargain-bin abomination of a child between Call of Duty and Shadow of Chernobyl. The general bullshit aside, there's about a billion small things that the game does just to piss you off, perhaps most notably having a mandatory story part where the game takes everything you have, money included. And while you can go and get your gear back, you can't get the money back. The game already makes getting money way too tedious and difficult, and then, around 35 - 40% of the way through the main story, it suddenly sticks its dick in your ass without your consent, and while it bought you dinner first, it was at that really cheap and dirty Mexican restaurant where everything tastes like its been farted on first.
About the anomalies: Getting an anti-radiation artifact (first one is in the first 10 minutes of the game) and equipping it helps a lot. Higher end artifacts, especially two of them almost completely negate radiation so you can explore a lot easier. Combined with a single or even two Endurance artifacts and the player CAN become exceptionally mobile and extremely hardy in radiation. That can make it a lot easier to play. Getting through the machinegun is easy when you have the High End armor from the first area. Sky Reclamation helps with the crashes :P
You know, I didn't find a single artifact and the only one I was given permanently irradiated me so I never used it, no wonder I felt the ending section was bullshit hard.
Honestly, you have a great fucking channel. It's rare when i like reviews where I dont necessarily agree with the points the person is making, It's a shame you dont post that oftenly though. Iknow how time consuming editing stuff can be but even a short video every 2 weeks or so would be super nice. Mad props, brah.
Zombies in clear sky are more accurate than hickok 45 also things i hated about clear sky -Little to no ratifacts no fun searching for them i remember in SoC when i came from agroprom with tons of artifacts. -Bullets don't hit i perfectly lined the crosshair the enrmy was still and somehow it glanced of their head fuck clear sky -Zombies move around dodging bullets like clones of Neo -Red forest has more snorks than enemies in the whole game -Pseudogiand is strong enough to take 100 9x39 AP and still not dying -Stupid storyline you start in a shitty swamp 0c starts to lag there -Enemies dont have recoil or spread it feels like they fire lasers -Don't let me start about perfectly cooked grenades every timr you take cover(you can't cook nades and still the do much less damage to enemies than in shadow of chernobyl where it takes 1-4 in clear sky you have to land them at their feet and still can take 4 nades and more.
I love the artefact finding system in C's and what it becomes in cop. I don't like how every artefact is fucking useless. In shoc I spent some time actually building a load out, in clear sky whenever I found an artefact once in a blue moon I after some time completly stopped looking at the stats and just sold them because for some reason +3 of a positive stat is fucking nothing but +3 of radiation literally evaporates your hp bar. Faction wars would be awesome if you could at least make allows follow you. If I ever replay this game Ill propably have to mod it into shit so it's even somewhat enjoyable
only just discovered you not too long ago and I'm quite enjoying your videos on the stalker games. any chance of a video on Call of Pripyat some day? that one has always been my favourite, even with all the engine problems that seem to be much more exaggerated as compared to the other games
Love all the stalker games except this one. I purposely put off playing it for years and honestly I'm a better man for doing so. Call of Pripyat is so refined, it took everything that were great ideas in clear sky, and actually made them work for the third game. I honestly have no idea how Shadow of Chernobyl went from "wow this is pretty good" to "wow this is fucking bullshit." BTW I'd love for someone to analyze exactly why grenades are FUCKING USELESS on master difficulty on human enemies. I swear to high heaven, I have lobbed more grenades than bullets at enemies and they just don't seem to do much damage at all. This is odd, because I remember them being pretty much room clearing explosions in SoC and CoP.
Install arsenal overhaul or other weapon mod then go to confing and the mod wilk give you weapons folder that you can tweak set the damage of grenades more set "hit" higher not radius.Clear sky sucks so bad and is broken.
man i laughed all the way thru!! everything you say is true. and oh the fucking GRENADES! everyone carries a divisions worth and has the ability to plant it accurately between your feet from a mile away!
Clear Sky is a game, that needs a tremendous amount of community created Mods to be fixed! I personally stick to Call of Pripyat and the Misery Mod. If the Metro games wouldn't be so sh!t and Mod Friendly. All STALKER players would migrate to the better looking and modern engine. But life's a b!tch and Video Game Developers sh!t on their fans. We don't get what we want. Thats the reality of the video gaming industry for'ya. So we all have to stick to the old and visually outdated games and mod the ungodly sh!t out of them. Well, thats what i do, to improve the quality of my games.
Playing this game right now, this dude made mostly valid negative points about this game. Played Shadow of Chernobyl long ago, but it felt like it was less gimmecky experience.
Currently playing Clear Sky (can say - first time), SoC and CoP i played so many times. Back in a day is working so bad for me, i just give up on Clear Sky. Today Clear Sky buggy, but not crashing to me, and i enjoying playing new STALKER game!
Sounds like the problems are the result of multiplayer optimising. Multiplayer and singleplayer game mechanics are in contradiction. What is balanced in the one is unbalanced in the other which is (part of) why game designers have decided to focus on multiplayer to the exclusion of single player.
I was giving this game way to much chances, because I like the ideas behind expanding from original game: faction wars, search for artifacts with detector, upgrade system, but eventually I gave up. Good video, you nailed it just right. Anyway, it's sad for me to say this but we need you, we need you to open peoples eyes on what is horrible piece of shit is Fallout 4, the game which has more in common with Far Cry 3 than with Fallout, seriously it makes Fallout 3 to look not that bad, yeah F4 is this horrible
I feel like this is a cultural misunderstanding. You see, in Ukraine and similar Eastern European countries the most hostile and unintuitive the game feels - the more realistic it is to the Eastern European setting. The more the game hates you, the more honest it is being with you. And honesty is good, no?
one of the problems with the development of CS was that almost all of the main developers left GSC before SoC release, and new "leading" dev-guy was not even close to be one of leading developers on SoC (and later he became the boss of Vostok Games who developed these lame-ass aborted abominations called Survarium and Fear The Wolves), and the rest of the dev-crew were mainly new guys with no relations to development of the orignal game. also, prior to CS release i (and the whole army of other fans from CIS-countries) watched CS promo dev-diaries with interviews and demonstrations, and it was clear that all of those people were concentrated mainly on technologies (such as new version of engine and all that was related to it) rather than making intersting game that actually #JustWorks. and funny enough, back then i had some weird chain of acquaintances that were in direct (and friendly) contact with one of the GSC junior PR-managers - or to put it all simply, they just used to hang out in clubs and drink with each other - and couple moths before the release i got some info that GSC actually rescheduled the release date to another and much sooner date than originally planned. of course, back then, for me as a kid these news seemed to be really great - i mean every kid wants to get their toy sooner, right? but yeah, it turned out to a bad decision.
hey I need advice. so I'm building a computer and I have a game plan for what games to buy on steam I have limited finance so, what are your favorites.
+laundrypossum I'm not sure there are all that many modern games (worthy of your new computer) I would actually recommend. Depending on what you like, maybe Rising Storm? Spintires? The Witcher?
+The Examined Life (of Gaming) So Roland, I understand what you didn't like in the game, but you mentionet that you have since "come around" on the game, so what do you think about it now?
Nah, everything in your original rant was spot on. Clear Sky was shit compared to the other two STALKER games for a whole host of reasons. Not in any way worth playing.
Sadly, I can't actually play this or CoP, as the first game alone is enough to warm my cpu to worrying degrees. Still, doesn't seem like I missed out on much, so back to Shadows and Fallout it is! As a side note, ever thought of reviewing the Thief games? Unless they're just not your thing, of course.
+Jacob Smith I really need to get around to playing more Thief. I remember as a kid playing the demo for Thief 1, which is the entire first level where you burgle everything that isn't nailed down in the castle. It was INCREDIBLE. So of COURSE I bought it, and a friend of mine and I installed it, eagerly BLASTED through the castle level again, and were so damn excited to see what level 2 had in store. Level 2 is a bullshit slog through endless pitch black caves, trying to fight off headless zombies or something. It was such a let down we never made it any further in the game.
The Examined Life (of Gaming) You're right, the second level is a letdown (Cragscleft is my second most hated chapter of the game), but that's kind of the thing with Thief 1: when it's good, it's downright masterful, offering you a ton of freedom to approach maps how you want, and giving you the feeling of being some master thief, capable of robbing a place blind with no one noticing. But then you get the downers, like the infamous Thieves Guild in Thief Gold, another slog that takes forever to complete and offers little in the way of exciting architecture or luxurious loot. Followed almost immediately by the insanely awesome Constantine's mansion. Though patchy, the story is one of the best told in gaming, and the atmosphere is thick and glorious. If you get the chance, I really recommend you give it another shot, or skip to either Thief II (a far superior game) or Deadly Shadows (which is both better and worse... somewhat). Anyway, sorry about the rant, it's kinda sorta my favorite series, and I love to gab about it. A bit too much, it seems.
+Gggmanlives People have differing opinions. Those opinions can be just as (if not more) informed as yours and still differ from yours. Welcome to art.
Alexander Yordanov Except games are also entertainment with things that can be objectively good or bad. Welcome to reality. And the reality is, even if you liked Clear Sky, it's not a good game, especially not without fan patches.
Aedan Clarke Uhm... that is not how it works. Video Games are an art form. And entertainment. Those two are *subjective*. There is no objectively good or bad here. What you may like, what themes or tropes or ideas resonate with you... may actually be trash to me. The opposite also applies. Reality is not that simple.
Alexander Yordanov Why the fuck are you talking about themes or tropes or ideas? No one else is. We're talking about how Clear Sky is a shitty game because its mechanics don't gel in any cohesive way, and they aren't well-made on their own, anyway. It's just a shit game. So if you want to make your argument on themes and ideas, all I can say is: "No shit," while reminding you that, as that wasn't the point of the conversation, such a statement has no value. Alternatively, if you think there's no such thing as objectivity when it comes to mechanics, you're certifiably retarded. This is not something that you can argue. There's such a thing as objective quality for video games, unless you want to tell me that Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing or Rogue Warrior are good games. And if you do, all you can expect is for me to call you a filthy liar, because that's what you'd be. If you find Clear Sky fun, good on you, mate. But just because you want to defend it doesn't mean you get to make shit up and you can't go, "There's no objectivity in entertainment or art." I mean, even paintings have a certain level of objective quality. A five year-old's little hand turkey that he made in class isn't the same as the Mona Lisa. You're right, reality isn't simple, but when it comes to art and entertainment, it isn't as chaotic and complex as you pretend it is.
This game is fucked. I beat it once and I'm trying to play again, but it doesn't get better the second time though. You just know that you have to stock up on medical supplies because Scar is a paper skinned cancer ridden geriatric and the worst protagonist in any video game ever made. I hate the bleeding in this game. I don't care how "realistic" or "immersive" it is, it's objectively tedious and if you disagree you are wrong.
Interesting. I actually never played Clear Skies, or Call of Pripyat, so...should I? i still wanna finish Shadow of Chernobyl, but since my PC is a non-gaming laptop with Win 8.1...I'd have to do some rigging/fan-patching/modding to get it to run, since running the game on Win 7 already took me like 2 hours, and I have so many other games to play too that I somehow feel like it would be wasted time, even though I know its a rewarding experience. Basically the same kind of problem I had when I tried to play through Pathologic. THAT REMINDS ME...did you ever play Pathologic? Since you have such a (justified) liking for Eastern European games, Pathologic would be probably RIGHT up your alley. Its buggy, it has so many unpolished corners, the translation is just a trainwreck and the story is just so slavic as fuck in its themes and telling that its probably alien to most people outside eastern europe/russia, but its also a really draining (in a fun way, I guess?), interesting experience. Just don't do the mistake I did the first time around and try to play it without walkthrough. Hell even the devs tell you that a walkthrough should be consulted because the translation is so retarded at points. Thankfully they kickstartered a remake that is supposed to keep the core experience the same, but provide an actual, playable translation, though don't ask me when THAT is going to come out. Oh and if you wanna play a good non-FPS or non-platformer indie game, play Darkest Dungeon and Undertale. Maybe one of them is up your alley.
YOU SEE IVAN

The psy-dog, the hardest enemy to kill in SoC is one of the easiest in CS. You look into the radar, it tells you where extractly the real dog is.

Great work again Roland!
+Salokin Sekwah Yep. Planning to do a big bombastic 2015 in review video featuring MGSV and a few others.
Just a small correction. CS is about Streloks first trip to zone, before geting captured by monolith and beign reprogrammed and sent to zone as one of their s.t.a.l.k.e.r. agents, which led to starting cutscene of SoC.

-Stupid storyline you start in a shitty swamp 0c starts to lag there

Great video. Miss your regular updates. I hope that now that it's getting colder that means you'll post more. I'm a fan.

+Jimmie McRustleberg Maybe. CoP is the best overall game in the series, but nothing about it really stands out for me.
Love all the stalker games except this one. I purposely put off playing it for years and honestly I'm a better man for doing so. Call of Pripyat is so refined, it took everything that were great ideas in clear sky, and actually made them work for the third game. I honestly have no idea how Shadow of Chernobyl went from "wow this is pretty good" to "wow this is fucking bullshit."
BTW I'd love for someone to analyze exactly why grenades are FUCKING USELESS on master difficulty on human enemies. I swear to high heaven, I have lobbed more grenades than bullets at enemies and they just don't seem to do much damage at all. This is odd, because I remember them being pretty much room clearing explosions in SoC and CoP.
Install arsenal overhaul or other weapon mod then go to confing and the mod wilk give you weapons folder that you can tweak set the damage of grenades more
set "hit" higher not radius.Clear sky sucks so bad and is broken.
:D Now THAT is a proper rant :D I think I only played the first game. Good to know that this one is to be avoided.
Great to hear your rants once again man. Hope to see you comeback, soon.
man i laughed all the way thru!!
everything you say is true.
and oh the fucking GRENADES! everyone carries a divisions worth and has the ability to plant it accurately between your feet from a mile away!
You kept us waiting, huh?
+Colmarr You know it, Kaz.
Everyone and their mother has ripped F4 a new one - even two years ago it wasn't uncommon.
I feel like this is a cultural misunderstanding. You see, in Ukraine and similar Eastern European countries the most hostile and unintuitive the game feels - the more realistic it is to the Eastern European setting. The more the game hates you, the more honest it is being with you. And honesty is good, no?
Will you do a video on Call of Prypiat?
Those Clear Sky NPC are a bit pushy.
still waiting for that Winback review
one of the problems with the development of CS was that almost all of the main developers left GSC before SoC release, and new "leading" dev-guy was not even close to be one of leading developers on SoC (and later he became the boss of Vostok Games who developed these lame-ass aborted abominations called Survarium and Fear The Wolves), and the rest of the dev-crew were mainly new guys with no relations to development of the orignal game.
also, prior to CS release i (and the whole army of other fans from CIS-countries) watched CS promo dev-diaries with interviews and demonstrations, and it was clear that all of those people were concentrated mainly on technologies (such as new version of engine and all that was related to it) rather than making intersting game that actually #JustWorks.
and funny enough, back then i had some weird chain of acquaintances that were in direct (and friendly) contact with one of the GSC junior PR-managers - or to put it all simply, they just used to hang out in clubs and drink with each other - and couple moths before the release i got some info that GSC actually rescheduled the release date to another and much sooner date than originally planned. of course, back then, for me as a kid these news seemed to be really great - i mean every kid wants to get their toy sooner, right? but yeah, it turned out to a bad decision.
Don't like the army's machine gun? Maybe you should have chosen the other road of the two. :D
hey I need advice. so I'm building a computer and I have a game plan for what games to buy on steam I have limited finance so, what are your favorites.
+laundrypossum I'm not sure there are all that many modern games (worthy of your new computer) I would actually recommend. Depending on what you like, maybe Rising Storm? Spintires? The Witcher?
what i really like is survival games i really like project zomboids
laundrypossum Well you could get into Day Z. ArmA II's engine looks pretty bitchin' on a powerful computer.
good idea ill check it out
+The Examined Life (of Gaming) So Roland, I understand what you didn't like in the game, but you mentionet that you have since "come around" on the game, so what do you think about it now?
yay his not dead
Praise Jebus for mods that make this game actually playable
SoC is half decent, but Clear Sky is a fucking terrible game, people are deluded if they think otherwise.
+Gggmanlives I second this. Clear Sky should be wiped from everyone's hard drives. How anyone could like this abysmal piece of dog shit is beyond me.
+Gggmanlives
People have differing opinions.
Aedan Clarke
Uhm... that is not how it works.
LOVE STALKER HATE CLEAR SKY
Great video, really enjoyed it.
I don't care how "realistic" or "immersive" it is, it's objectively tedious and if you disagree you are wrong.
have you played escape velocity Nova
i too hated cs but damn, you hate it with a passion
Review the silent cartographer evolved, for no real reasons.
are you gona make more videos
+Crazy Tubex HELL YEAH!
Stupid npc's are a pox on the gaming world.
Worst I seen was in resident evil Raccoon city. Sounds like this game was way worse though. Nice review.
Not a bad rant.
Have you played it on master?
I heard it fixes some of the bulletsponge enemies.
Maybe one of them is up your alley.
кто из россии ?
+SWEN TREE Me, no. American. The game, also no. Ukrainian.
try "Stalker Lost Alpha", it's free
