Zoom always has had a huge variety of sounds! I have had all 3 at one point ! Still have my G1 x four and thanks to you I’m the proud owner of a zoom 2100, GFX5 and GFX8 lol
Have to say you have absolutely opened my eyes to the G2.1u here, I was looking for something to really spice up my guitar and synth setup and I think this might be just the thing. The digital distortions certainly aren't the most accurate these days but they sound incredible in their own way, it seems to have a charm that got a little lost on the way to the newer, cleaner models, there's some real industrial dirt there. As soon as I heard that ringmod freakout I went shopping around and found an excellent condition one on mercari for about 30 euro (shipping will bump that up a bit but that's still nothing for an fx unit), really looking forward to putting it through its paces!
Thanks for your really positive comment. I have to say the clarity and broad usability of this unit really impressed me when I first got it even though that was maybe 15 years ago now. A lot of people would argue that it sound isn’t authentic or professional enough but I think it should be viewed as a different flavour, rather than an imitation of the vintage flavours. Thanks again :-)
I was a bit disappointed with the g1four, felt that the default presets were not good, and when using custom presets with high gain, there is an odd high frequency squeal. Thank you for this amazing video.
Can you point me in the right direct for a multi-effects..something that has a Fantastic Clean and light drive....I've got a G1Four but I want something better...I am using the unit direct into a Array PA.
Being 6-8 years apart, they are under different people in management for decisions and technology in upgraded processors and memory on what to focus on.
If you go into settings you can adjust filters and tweak all sorts of settings and control them all with the center dial. Also, not having the pedal really makes a huge difference with controlling the effects. You barely scratched the surface with your demo of the G1xON.
Also: The G1Xon, has an on/off button under the front end of the pedal. It is easily overlooked and supposedly it is not mentioned in the instructions. I bought mine used without instructions, but I heard a guy mention the wah pedal button issue on UA-cam.

How is the durability of g1xfour? Can it be used in stage performances?
Not for serious gigs that involve a lot of other heavy equipment. Sedate restaurant gigs, sure.

Some of the older pedals have more character than the newer ones.

I have three G2s. I’ve tried G3 and G5s. The G2s sound better and never run out of processor like the 3 and 5.

A pedalboard with all three in series. You wouldn't need anything else.

i like the older g1xnext over g1xon bc its fatter and natural sounding on distortion g1xon is more digital
Cool, it's nice when it's easy to spot a clear favorite from a selection of similar machines, coz there's a lot of choice out there.

Also: The G1x4 has a 3 minute looper. The G1Xon only has a 30 second looper.
True, some ppl use all that time to record a whole backing track.
