I'm pumped to see this. One of the best sequels ever made

The 9th kill is like the most vicious and brutal neck snap I’ve ever seen in a slasher film 🤯
Seems to be a running theme of 80's-90's B-Movies having their own Police Station massacre after The Terminator dropped, Maniac Cop 2 is a runner up for one of it's best imitators!
They killed the protagonist of the first movie rather casually. Kind of a bold move.
When I was a kid I thought Johnny Cage dying in Mortal Kombat Armageddon was a bold move haha

From what I could tell, Bruce Campbell and the Producers couldn't come to an agreement on things so Bruce himself suggested to have his character killed off.
He was also going through a bad divorce at the time the film was being made.

Matt Cordell was one of the force’s best cops, a damn good one, but since New York at this time was run by corrupt politicians, he was wrongfully arrested and thrown in the slammer with those who he put away throughout his career, and it’s clear they all hate him.
Then one day in the showers, they acted…
Three specific inmates ran into the showers with weapons and a fight broke out, but unfortunately for Matt, the crooks got the upper hand by stabbing him in the back, and then they cut his face up a bunch, before finally dying on the scene. So he rises from the grave because he was never put to rest, and in the first film, he attacks the mayor and those that put him away all those years ago, so he’s not technically a villain, he has the most realistic backstory in horror movies, and he kills for revenge just like Jason Voorhees.

This was a good sequel and the police station shootout was entertaining. It made sense that he would retaliate at the police station given a bit of the events in the first movie. Though people have viewed it as copying Terminator’s police station shootout, but the reasons are different and they both kicked it off differently too. One crashed into the front reception and began mowing down cops with his guns while the other lies in wait inside the station’s indoor range and gunned them down after letting the cops fire into the targets before he killing those cops inside. Which is a nice different opening to the shootout in comparison. So both were good and any comments on similarities, ignore them and enjoy the movie. The gun used by the undead cop Cordell in the police station shootout is a 9mm Calico M950 which can be semiautomatic and converted to full automatic with that helical magazine. In actuality, the Calico was not used by NYPD or other police forces.
