the back cinch is good if you plan to be going up and down step hills too. it helps keep the saddle in place and not move forward interfering with her shoulder and the movement on the front legs if the saddle slides forward, it'll keep the horse from being able to move as freely as it should. it may even cause soreness in that area if the saddle is moving too far forward. I like to have my no more than two fingers loose.😊
I always tuck the pad up into the gullet so when we sit down the pad doesn't stretch straight across their back. With the pad pulled up into the gullet it gives room for the pad to rest on the back to where it's comfortable for the horses back. I can't explain it very well but that's how I was taught anyway!
I do the same thing, especially for high-withered horses. I actually had to learn the hard way… a thoroughbred threw me off because I didn’t tuck the pad and it made him too uncomfortable to lope lol
The bucking strap is not just a decorative feature, its called a bucking strap for a reason. It was never meant to prevent bucking, it was made to keep the saddle from bouncing around all over the place. Now let me be honest, you are thorough, which is good. But you are very sloppy and misinformed. I hope no one take all the information you give.
At least the idiot that replied to my comment had the curtasy to delete their stupidity. Folks, make sure you read the entire comment before saying something stupid.
One thing I like to do is pinch the front of the saddle pad up at the withers (toward the pommel) just before I cinch the saddle. This ensures the saddle pad is not resting on the withers. I guess everyone has their own little tricks.
Do you know what Turks do with new western saddles? Some Turks thinks its made wrong, so they cut of both cinches and make one in the middle of saddle. To English saddles they add horns and they cut off saddle flaps from Australian saddles and remove this things near horn! They say their style is Ottoman and it is worst thing I have ever seen. Since then worst English and west riders are champions for me! I just wanted to share it with someone.
You didn’t pull up the pad up towards the saddle. Very important step. It’s way to close to the horses neck and will make it uncomfortable for her when u ride, as it tends to be flattened out even more underneath the saddle and press down on the horse

I wonder how often she has to tighten the girth back up while riding since she doesn't secure it.

I like these videos. Very clear, step by step, and everything is explained.

there are two different ways to do it. the way she did it and the way you said it. there is no "right" or "wrong"

I use the t knot
That's what I was taught where I used to ride. I know I'm late commenting. But just wanted to mention it!
Usually there is a connector strap between the front cinch and the rear strap too. Good videos Kathy.
TY!
When I ride I tie a knot in the reins
U did it wrong ur supposed to put a knot on the front girth
reach for girth/cinch with LEFT hand for safety...but for video the way it was fine was for viewers benefit
