GTA 6 also did this, I was unaware of that song being from Tom Petty but it just fits the game so perfectly...I would swear whoever did the music for this also worked on the GTA 6 trailer. Not entirely true. There are cops in Sims 3 and 4 . But they rarely do anything. Other than fistfights, about the only crime in the Sims' world is vandalism. And even that is minor.
With mods, Sims 3 allows you to assassinate someone.
But unless you use a 3rd party sniper rifle, there's usually little to no chance of getting arrested. And if you do, you're out again in only 12 hours...and everyone hates you.
Even if the bozo you killed was an evil overlord who'd killed hundreds, one act of revenge with the sniper rifle makes everyone see you as the psychopath. Even if you use cheats to win back your friends, they will quickly grow to hate you again. The only way to fix this is to use a "Reset Sim" cheat, such as with the Master Controller from Nraas Industries. Then, you can use cheats to win back friends without them holding a grudge.
