I like the way the buttons lie flat, as you stitched in and out of each one. I could see myself fiddling around sliding the buttons back and forth along the thread. I'd probably better use a strong thread!
I'd be afraid the buttons might shift, so I would squish a little dab of fabrifix under each one after all was complete, just to give a little more security.
I have not made one before. Waxed thread would likely be a great substitute for longevity, but the embroidery thread has worn well in other applications and the buttons are very smooth. Great question!
Beautiful and clever! I don't have fb otherwise I would ask to join your group. :) Saw your vid thumbnail on the yt home page and came by to see your lovely work.
Great idea for the buttons binding! Love it! Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and stay well.

I’ve started using a waxed linen for all my bindings. I’ve never had the embroidery thread break but for security…I have switched!
Beautiful
Thank you
New subbie here from Aussie. Great tutorial.
Welcome! I hope you enjoy my channel...I am completing this journal then giving it away in my FAcebook group!

I’ll leave that to the discretion of the creator; I chose not to glue so there could be movement if the embroidery thread stretches with age.
Love this idea! Have you made one like this before and if so does it wear well?

This is such a beautiful journal. I tried doing buttons and I stopped because it didn't look right. But this is so different and looks easier
The secret (I haven't watched anyone else do it ;-), therefore, I don't know if it's right or wrong!)
Where have you been? I immediately subscribed.
Thank you! So much to do in this paper rabbit hole we’ve fallen into!
