"That being said, Khan Noonien Singh is the most dangerous adversary the Enterprise ever faced. He is brilliant, ruthless and he will not hesitate to kill every single one of you." - Spock Prime.
And kirk, in his infinite wisdom, thought it was a good idea to let Khan read all about the specs and operation of the ship. Gave him access to all the technical manuals available. Sure, seems like a great idea. What a wise captain.
@spaceace1006 Kahn and his followers were far superior to mere humans and no doubt was able to understand the workings of a Miranda class frigate in only a fraction of the time it would take for a normal starship crew to do. Also being physically superior it’s no doubt that Kahn’s people could operate a starship much more efficient than a full compliment of a ships crew….in the original episode Space Seed look how long it took him to commandeer the Enterprise.
I hoped you'd mention the 'Wrath of Khan' goof. When discovered by Terrell and Chekov Khan says to Chekov, "... I never forget a face... Mr Chekov!". But 'Space Seed' where we first meet Khan was Season 1 Ep 22. Chekov joined the show in season 2 therefor they'd never met.
Kaaahn shout never gets old lol, also space seed was so awesome, Khan taking command of the ship, his background being identified by the computer, his relation with Marla, the dinner scene, the fight with Kirk, everything was perfection.
The rise and fall of khan noonian Singh by Greg Cox goes into depth about Khan's past and the eugenics wars. It's an absolutely amazing read and any star trek fan should absolutely read them.
Ya know, I always thought about that. How stupid of Kirk to give Khan access to The Enterprise's technical information when Khan wasn't answering any of Kirk's questions.
What kind of shoddy work was Starfleet engaged in where they could go to a mapped star system (Ceti or Ceti Alpha, whetever it's called - my own shoddy research!) and not notice that an entire planet is missing?
So let's pretend we're Harve Bennet for a moment. We have been tasked with watching all 3 seasons of TOS to come up with a motion picture sequel. Obviously, he found the absolute perfect episode to do a sequel with which had both a fantastic story, interesting characters, and star power with Riccardo Montalban. Now let's pretend TWOK didn't happen because of various reasons. What would be the next best TOS episode to make a motion picture sequel with? I already have my pick which would be "Assignment Earth." Imagine the return of both Gary Seven together with Roberta Lincoln to avert yet another crucial point in Earth's history. Seven seeks out Kirk and the Enterprise being they already know of Seven's existence. We can come up with literally hundreds of scenarios that would require the attention of Gary Seven. Mabe a combined effort by the Romulans and Klingons to go back in Earth's past to change its future? Such a movie would have present-day fleet battles with the Romulans and Klingons, then time travel with Seven and Roberta to undo whatever they did to change history???? I think it would have made an excellent motion picture 😁. What TOS episode would you choose?
What about the 2 book series "Eugenics Wars" which delves deeper into Khans history and how Gary 7 tried to help him, and how he and his followers ended up on the space craft the Enterprise comes across.
The problem with science fiction is that sometimes reality overtakes the original future timeline. In 1967 the 1990s seemed far enough into the future, now we're talking about 30 years in the past...
Khan and Singh are ethnic names and these 2 cannot be in one name. For example, it’s either Karpal Singh or Salman Khan. Khan is Persian. Singh is Punjabi.
Khan Noonien Singh was born Noonien Singh. He was a Sikh from the land of the Punjab. When he became a dictator, he gave himself the title of Khan... as in Genghis Khan. Gene Rondenberry served in world war 2 and name Khan after a soldier called Noonien Singh whom he crossed paths with in Europe in an attempt that Noonien Singh would get in contact.
I know they couldn't use some of the characters in ST - II - TWOK in ST - III - TSFS because of actor availablity and the role being re-cast, but I would love to see a video on why there's no mention of Khan in any Trek film after, they put the crew on trial at the conclusion of ST - IV - TVH, and reduced Kirk from a Admiral to Captain, but with regards to the events concerning the creation of The Genesis Planet, only Spock's father told about the Death of David and the destruction of the science vessel, but the Reliant's crew never got talked about again or if they wanted to backup Kirk's actions or relate any information after their Captain killed himself due to Khan's brain washing.
Regarding the new ST Strange New Worlds -- Before everyone freaks out I want to say I like the show, especially the first away mission of Uhura, that was great writing. I do take issue with Pike's suite and fireplace ( seriously?) and Nurse Chapel is horrible. But that and other issues aside there is one serious flaw that no one seems to notice. Christina Chong as La'an Noonien-Singh,La'an............the character is a descendant of Ricardo Montalbán's Star Trek villain Khan Noonien Singh, and has been discriminated against because of this ...........serving on a ship with Spock?? who in 5-10 years will meet Khan and not know who he is???........seriously?? .........the entire story line of Khan is that when found no one, not Nurse Chapel, not Spock, who served with Pike, knew who Khan was or ever heard of him...........until Spock did heavy research and finally found out, this was poor planning and writing they could have done much better, they could have made her Ryker's future mom, etc etc etc they blew it one== they meet Khan serving with Kirk, after serving with Pike, Uhura, Chapel and Spock have no idea who he is???
I noticed this too. With what was shown in Picard and Strange New Worlds it makes me wonder if they are just trying to capitalize on the Kahn character in some way without putting much effort into it.
The latest episode of SNW hints towards it with certain parties interfering pushing back the date of Khan's rise by 30 years, so maybe in the Original Series that was the case for Khan and the TOS crew, but with so much time travel based interference happening in the franchise since (TV shows, Movies, Books, even Star Trek Online have countless events) it's logical that though certain events still occur to keep the core of the Prime timeline whole (thanks to certain other more noble parties from the future), that changes will not go unnoticed by history and would change the past either way, including events that we have seen and are 'canon'. The instant they bought time travel in in TOS, they gave license for everything canon to be changed and retconned and it makes sense, regardless of how anyone feels about it really. Might seem cheap or whatever, but the loose rules of ST timetravel make it fair game
@@JacobKarreverything you just mentioned is non-canon. Only shows and films are. If anything, it makes things even more confusing and it was obvious the writers didn't care about it at all, just read the ScreenRant Goldsman interview
@@homelessend8557 okay, I just read it and I get his reason for doing it, but I also think my reasoning makes more sense than 'we did it because we could' 🤣. Even excluding the non tv shows and movies, there's still plenty of time travel that would alter things enough, regardless of the intentions of Time agencies trying to keep things the same, Choas theory loosely dictates that once you go back you've changed history, especially when you start removing people from the past via killing or taking them to the future. Still, I don't take the franchise too seriously as it's on par with Doctor Who but with a slightly bigger budget. I love SNW and will just enjoy the ride, regardless of retcons
Well done and thank you...Some pronunciation issues (in my opinion). I was under the impression that Kahn and his followers were defeated in the wars by Gary Seven. Is this true? I have the book, but I still have not read it!
All pop culture sucks on some level and that's okay. It's also okay to enjoy it. Stop feasting on nostalgia and just relax. It's all just pretend, so we all as fans need to stop acting like it's such a big thing when things change, because look what happens when they don't change and take risks. You get Star Trek The Motion Picture. As an episode with it would have been fine as have many of the less exciting episodes of any Trek series, but that shit was the worst idea for a movie, let alone the first. Wrath of Khan would have been the perfect opener. Action packed, tense and still cerebral, exactly like the best, most memorable episode of TOS. First Contact is the best TNG movie for the same reasons. They gave us all the best flavours of TNG in one intense movie, with some of the best character development in the enter TNG era and it had the fuckin' Borg. I love TNG but I can't even watch Encounter at Farpoint because even though it's Q's intro, it's a 40 minute TOS-esque story over almost 2 hours and that's too long 😂 The 1st and 3rd Kelvin TL movies are great alternate timeline action movies with original plots and gave us heightened new takes on the characters, but, STID shouldn't have had Khan as the villain, regardless of leaning on nostalgia and doing it wrong, but because making it a separate thing was a great move and a way to separate from TOS while potentially giving the general audience a great, fun, intro to the Universe
The latest movie series kind of rebooted the Khan story and it completely breaks most of the timeline narrative. Too bad in some ways. It seems the writers of the new series didn't really know Star Trek that well :) I also totally disliked the last JJ ABrahams last Star Trek movie. I thought they made it for kids...
I love Khan. I don’t see him a a villain necessarily, and I don’t think Kirk did it either, or he wouldn’t have exiled him in the first place. I see Khan as Napoleon, his exile was supposed to be Elba, but turned out to be Saint Helena. Of course, Kirk didn’t know that, the federation just lost his paperwork and never checked on him. If you ask me, the real villain here is bureaucracy!
Khan is born in the very same year that I was born. It's so weird to think of that for me. Sadly this seems more like a history teugenics than ot does of Khan.

Asia to the Middle East is somewhat nebulous because technically with the exception of the Maghrib of North africa, turkey most of the Middle East technically is Asia. Including the Arabian peninsula the Levant Mesopotamia and Persia now Iraq and Iran but depending on how far into Asia it extended could be simply India or the entirety of the Indian subcontinent including Pakistan and Bangladesh but if Khan is a Sikh, areas like India itself as well as part of Pakistan might willingly fall under his Reign but I'd say historically Muslim areas would be far harder to hold under his thumb because the northern region of India that is spoken of of course is Punjabi so Afghanistan Pakistan as well as Tajikistan and Turkmenistan certainly would reasonably fall under that maybe 12 lesser extent Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan but I would doubt that anything outside of that and Points West as far as the Levant would would that easily fall under one person's sway meaning not likely to include the countries in Indochina like Thailand Cambodia Laos and Vietnam and China itself probably be too big to handle under his sway. Every other Star Trek tv series is good. I can't understand WTF were they thinking when they started making that series
Kirk was the GOAT of starship commanders, but his open willingness to allow Khan unfettered access to the Enterprise's technology and computer systems was naive, foolish, reckless, an incredibly grave lapse in judgement, and an egregious breach of security protocols.....which if you consider the butterfly effect, ultimately led to the death of Spock fifteen years later.

I HATE TREK PURISTS WHO KNIT-PICK DETAILS AND BLURRY ISSUES OF TREK; I'LL SUPPORT THEM REGARDLESS, I only wish that the FAN-FILMS more credit and even "some" storylines be used.
KHHAAAN!
I'll make it easy - New Trek sucks.
IT'S NOT TREKIES! IT'S TREKERS!

SPOILER ALERT
I love Star Trek and been remember watching the original Star Trek show when I was very young and for the most part love all the Star Trek tv series but I'm sorry Star Trek: Discovery is so horrible it's by far the worst Star Trek show ever. I seriously can't Express how horrible that series is; it's even worse than that horrible cartoon that came out not to long ago and as bad as that cartoon is, Discovery is 100 times worse. Every other Star Trek tv series is good. I can't understand WTF were they thinking when they started making that series
There is no debate, new trek sucks.
He offered them Order and they refused him, idiots.
