3 reasons the convertible is the Corvette to get, an easily worth the premium:
    1. With the top down, it looks MUCH better than the Coupe, sans top. And it's not close.
    2. With the coupe, you lose the rear trunk when the top is down. With the convertible, you don't.
    3. The convertible is fully automatic, removing the top. On the coupe, it is fully manual.

      1. Can’t see the engine...kind of the main attraction/appeal of the C8
      2. 80-102 lbs heavier than the Coupe
      3. Targa top has always had better structural rigidity. Maybe the C8 is better than the last gens because it’s a HTC instead of a cheap rag. Still, more moving parts = more things to fail. This is a GM product. It will fail or get recalled at some point.

While my C7 Z51 has the targa just pushing a button is super easy. I would drive with top down / off more often if all it requires is a button. The fact that you lose no storage with the convertible is another bonus. I could careless about seeing the engine as long as long as it can be serviced easily. Oil and brake fluid access (track car) would be my focus. The color combo on this example is fantastic.

In 2020, Supercar means 2000 HP+, like the Nissan GT-Rs currently holding 50 of the fastest 100 Dragy 0-60 times of all time, the other cars around 1 sec to 60 are Funny Cars. Anything verified on Dragy thats under 1 second to 60 mph, certainly. Maaaaaaybe under 2 secs would be a good test, if you want to allow any old tuned Golf R to qualify. The C8's fastest Dragy time is 4.14 secs, verified. I think that's still "sportscar" territory, but with soooo many faster 4-doors, thats very debatable.

I’d like to add two investment return thoughts:

You are spot-on with your HTC value analysis. #1 on my list is the conveniences over the coupe. I can’t imagine stopping every time to take the targa roof off, or put it back on, and it’s possible damage each time - in and out of the trunk - and doing it as one person. One slight slip-up, and boom, a paint blemish. #2 priority: the controllable rear window, #3: better engine/exhaust sound, when you want it. #4: a clean engine and not having to constantly clean the coupe’s rear hatch window. In truth, the rear hatch window is a little smallish and dark to see the engine anyway... and the engine sits so low, you can’t really see much of it. Hard to even see the valve covers. You really need to open the hatch to see the engine on the coupe. And after you do that once with all your friends (which will happen in the 1st month you own the car) - the cool factor will be gone. Plus, you end-up feeling obligated to keep the engine bay and glass clean. There’s another 1/2 hour added to the driveway car wash. #5 priority: If you are going on a cross country road trip with the wife... forget about removing the targa top. The trunk will be full. Summer one or two week road trips are maybe what this particular retiree looks forward to the most. Can’t imagine not being able to remove the targa top, due to luggage, on a beautiful day. With a Coupe in the garage, I can see what’ll happen: the wife will say “let’s take the Outback or SUV on the trip instead. I need room for my shoes and hair dryer”. 😀
