Every time I listen to this version, I can't help but compare it to other versions sung by Miku - not in terms of quality, but in terms of feeling. Where in most other renditions she sounds younger, more naive and hopeful, in this version it sounds to me like Miku's...tired, cynical and frustrated at her situation. She growls when she regards the magic mirror, as if she feels bitter. Her voice cracks as she pleads for her Prince Charming to rescue her, hinting at desperation. Towards the end, she forgoes following the melody she's sung probably dozens - no, _hundreds_ of times in favour of higher notes, only serving to highlight how much effort it's taking her to keep going. This almost feels like a version of Miku at her wits end, having been promised a fairytale-like salvation that will never arrive, crying out for a make-believe hero as a final Hail Mary, and cursed with the knowledge that no matter how long she waits, *no one* will save her. As much as she tries to deny it, she knows that, for better or worse, *she is all alone.* I LOVE it.
