Manipur Border Security Tightened Amid Surge in Violence | Schools Closed & Internet Ban Extended

In response to the recent surge in violence, security forces have tightened measures along Manipur's borders, including those with neighboring states and the international border, to prevent militant movement. Schools and colleges are closed, and the internet ban has been extended until September 15. Since May 2023, Manipur has been plagued by violence primarily stemming from long-standing conflicts between the Kuki and Meitei communities, resulting in 226 deaths and widespread displacement.
