Hey, the Welcome Home "link" in the description doesn't lead anywhere, it's simply a white text. EDIT TO CLEAR THINGS UP: Apparently you just need to copy the link and paste it as a web adress manually, that way it will work 😅 I was just thrown off by the fact that it's the only non-clickable link in the description and thought that it might be broken or something!
If you read the 'recipe' for the pea on a plate, it specifically says that if you have more diners, to add one pea for each, but be sure to not let them be too close to each other. I think this signifies how each character is kept largely isolated from each other save in a very superficial way, and that Eddy was suddenly aware of that lack of real connections.
I think this is definitely it bc the not so silent night thing sounded like what I remember family holiday get togethers to be. Just a bunch of fighting and slamming. Which would happen imo if some of these characters were put in a room together for the show and then the show portion of it ends.
I noticed something, at first I thought the static in the background while Eddie dissociates beyond the veil was supposed to be an artifact of it being recorded off an old TV/broadcast. But i went and watched the video on the website and it sounds a lot more like the static you get if you leave a turntable playing after the record ends. Maybe thats the problem: the story is over, but Eddie is still aware.
That's what I thought too that he was becoming like self aware maybe? I mean the puppet parts of him in the post office are obviously outside of the show and that started appearing again after Eddie sits down and the show "ends".
the best part about welcome home is that you can tell clown made this not to get popular but because he has a story to tell. its why everything is so charming. nothing is done just for shock or scares.
@@yoteonthetoobs Is this a trans correction or "they assumed the wrong biological gender" correction? In either case, this person isn't going to drop dead from someone using the wrong noun.
@@OdaSwifteye the person saying she is misgendering them. clown states pretty clearly he uses he/they. and while, no, it's not gonna cause them to drop dead, it's still just kinda rude in general. it's like, if a dude was named after his abusive dad, and he decided to change his name legally to like. greg or something instead, you'd respect that, right? the same applies for trans people and their names & pronouns. if someone says, "hey, call me greg", it doesn't cost you anything to just do that. even if it seems really stupid to you, bc if it IS dumb and meant as a joke, they'll get tired of it by about the 5th person taking it seriously and go back to something normal. And if not, oh no, you were nice to someone and it cost you literally nothing.
Especially when you consider how the repeated shot of Eddie’s pea on the plate is substituted for Home’s eye in the last part of the dissociation commercial!
I think the ending of the mailman's special episode is also important in relation to Wally. People notice that Eddy has become unresponsive relatively quickly, but nobody seems to comment on Wally's stillness and unflinching stare away from the focus of the conversation. So it's not just an artistic framing that Wally acts "like an unmanned puppet" in these scenes--it's an in-universe affliction of some kind that Wally has had for long enough that the other characters are used to it. As though the same event or entity that lets Wally reach out to us has also made him unresponsive and infirm in his world.
With that kinda thinking, it makes me think Barnaby is more or less Wally's caretaker on top of being his friend considering from the videos how often he goes catatonic. It really reshapes on the way we see barnaby carry Wally around and help him out.
@@MrSadisticLlama Clown said on his tumblr that Barnaby was the one who taught Wally how to laugh and react in conversations, too. So the unresponsive thing could be how Wally started out as the Whatever He Is that doesn't understand people, and he's just regressing right now.
yeah the affliction is autism. wally just has a flat affect and doesnt maintain eye contact. i doubt you intended this, but its really depressing to see wally just chilling and being called "infirm" for it. also barnaby is his boyfriend bc i say so :)
@@gwennorthcutt421 I prefer to like to think that Wally's autism is just being abused rather than "He was given autism." Like, his brain is being pushed past its breaking point, and I like to think that just like me, he's only made it as far as he did with the entity because of his autism. Wally is probably the only one out of his friends who can handle the entity, and it is already pushing him past his breaking point. Or, seeing as how Welcome Home vanished without a trace only to come back eventually, I like to think that this is basically a Groundhog Day scenario where Welcome Home appears to a certain group of individuals, our POV group probably being Welcome Home's first set of victims seeing when WH was inspired from or maybe there was a previous batch of victims. I think that it was a real show, then something happened to make it vanish into its own realm, and now its own realm is trying to cross on over to our reality and it is slowly reforming its entire erased history with all of the Welcome Home cast being forced to witness everything for what they believe is the first time. Maybe someone will find a device or a way to just completely shut down WH for good, then it'll come back and the entire process will repeat all over again until our reality is destroyed.
In the full video, the audio of santa doing absolutely unspeakable things to that ham in the background while the guy continues to narrate killed me. 😂
Not me trying to describe/mimic this part and sounds to my husband and I guess doing too good of a job cos when I glanced at him he was looking at me with absolutely awestruck horror.
It reminded me of that one SpongeBob episode where Squidward leaves Sponge in charge of the Krusty Krab and he keeps trying to relax but spirals into an anxiety episode.
@@Mandi-blodgett Technically true, but they are typically generated based on timestamps written in the video description. Nick didn't do that, so UA-cam has nothing to work with.
My personal take is that the Wally that has no energy and sits there staring is actually "Home". When Wally says, "You know me. You look into my eyes." That's Home talking. Home has somehow found a way to hijack people and see through them and Wally was its first host, possibly a willing one, maybe not from the image of him in the dark reaching up almost plaintively towards Home's window. Home can't really make the body function much beyond staring, though. Home is part of the community, it's the name of the show, they tell you it's alive, but doesn't get to participate in anything really. It sits there staring. So first it started trying to communicate through silent phone calls to the others. Only Wally knows what is really on the other end and talks to it. But maybe Home is getting bored only having one perspective. Wally's eyes alone aren't enough. So they have a house warming party. A party that celebrates sometime getting a new home. Eddie is already emotionally vulnerable due to feeling left out all day, and then he's inside Home for the party. The look on his face, to me, was that he could hear or sense something was there. And then he sees Home's eyes staring at him. They show us that when he's agitated, he fidgets a lot. But then, with Home watching him, his fidgeting slowly stops and he becomes as lifeless and unresponsive as Wally. He just stares. That's the house warming, I think. Home has another host and a new pair of eyes.
Suppose targeting Eddie also makes sense in that he's the mailman. Probably sees way more people and more of the village than Wally does on any given day. Him being emotionally drained that evening just made the hijacking easier 🤔
cant wait for the whole cast to recreate more exciting avenues in "being at a party while ND". wallys not making eye contact and chilling and eddies dissociating, love that for them
If you look reaaaaaally close at the scene with the red in home, you can occasionally sort of see something moving *under* the red. Just under the surface that sort of skirts around the center. Spooky!
Yo I live under that shit. It was nighttime at 2pm .... fuckin creepy AF. It was so quiet. No birds, no wind... just a few night bugs cricketing a bit. I was stoked when it ended & it ended weirdly. It took forever to happen but the moon almost flew off the sun at the end. Like I'm not even really exaggerating either. U could see the shadows growing as the sun reemerged.
@@lisababyg4754 I wasn’t quite as lucky, but 90-95% coverage from my perspective is still damn close. Seeing a “crescent sun” was bizarre, and definitely something I’ll never forget.
Dude the moment before Eddie starts to dissasociate with the overlapping noises and static was such a visceral representation of auditory overstimulation. I had to turn down my computer and remind myself to calm down because it felt exactly like what I hear before having a breakdown. Serious props to Clown, hit the nail on the head there. (Also, as someone who loves toy design the vintage toy recreations made me nerd out so hard!)
I think it might be significant how one of the commercials shown Wally being unable to sleep and having to medicate to rest. At first it seems like something for the atmosphere (like the cigarettes commercial), but when you mentioned Wally sounding more energized, it hit me that this might be more important than it seemed. Wally says during the commercial that he can't sleep because he keeps thinking about ideas for paintings, but I think there might be more involved. Like, some horrors, perhaps?
I interpreted this as the WHRP trying to keep Wally quiet or not to act out of place or question things. This dude knows something is up and was trying to reach out to us for a reason.....
Clown said on Tumblr that Wally doesn't actually sleep. He just lays down and says "I'm sleeping" all night until it's time to wake up. Hence the irony of the one guy who can't sleep being the spokesperson for sleeping pills.
the long, long hanging empty scenes of eddies consciousness is so uncomfortable and tangible. its super well done. rly cool to see bigger and cooler things coming out of this project, its insane how much love is poured into it in all places. so excited to see where it goes next
Well said !! Definitely made me super uncomfortable, which is just my favorite thing ever. I love when people's creations have the power to affect people like that !!
Stoop!!! Clown made all of these characters so sweet and lovable it HURTS my soul to see their little puppet selves in distress! I just wanna give ‘em all a hug! :(
FRRRR I'm like, with all my heart shattered in pieces every time we see them go in any pain, and now with dear Eddie going through all that? Omgg nooo 💔 All these lovely neighbors just deserve lots of love and hugs, pure heaven!! We must protect them lolol 😭💕💕
44:00 helpful note for creators: if you're using tape grain on the visual, be sure to source tape hiss, _not_ vinyl static, for your audio! unless the vinyl LP is diegetic to the scene, you're much better off utilizing VHS, Betamax and/or cassette tape artifacts.
This. I think the Caretaker projects lead people to just slap 'record noise' on everything to be 'retro'. Worn analog video had a lot of noise, humming especially, and muffled high-end audio.
I think it’s possible it’s smarter than that actually! Eddie’s panic attack/dissociation scene starts just as the story book record (wally finding the meaning of christmas etc etc) Homecoming Special Episode ends- which could be part of what sets Eddie on his tailspin. He becomes aware because he continues to exist even after the story ended.
@@jackpijjin4088 i’m glad, i didn’t want to be Mr Um Actually but think Clown and the gang have demonstrated that level of attention to detail before, albeit not in this exact way
@@tobysinbad I appreciate your restraint. XD But yeah, I've just seen WAY too many 'retro' attempts (analog horror, Caretaker projects) that just slap surface noise on and nothing else. Maybe some bad EQ, tops. Didn't mean to imply that's all that was happening here, my bad. x.x
I am consistently impressed with this kid's commitment. The insane unworkable cookbook is an especially nice touch because I had one of those "cookbooks for kids" books when i was a child and it was filled with visually stunning but completely illogical and inedible recipes that no rational person would ever make. To see that kind of granular detail reflected in a free internet project display a serious level of craft and care that I always hoped for but never found in other unfiction.
I think Sally knows more than she lets on. She was the one to notice the thing that lurks outside and the static during her section of the Halloween section disappeared. She also seemed startled that Eddie was out of the post office, and it seemed like she was lying about delivering the presents for Eddie.
Still have no idea whats up with the black goo/mold but I do have a theory about the "Awakening". You talked about Eddie's breakdown sorta representing a workaholic without work, but what if its not just that. He exists as part of the show to be The Mailman, when that is taken away he, quite literally, has no purpose and begins to shut down, like a phone left unattended going to sleep, there is still stuff going on in the background but its just the bare minimum. Now, the only other character we've seen seem to go through this is Wally, but he's clearly existed in this state for a much longer time and seems to be more in control of it, even using it like contacting through the website. This leads us to the question of what happened to put him in this state originally and why hes been lacking purpose for so long. Following my logic from before we've gotta ask what Wally's role was. It seems pretty well established that he was the Audience Surrogate, which fits pretty cleanly with this theory, he properly shut down when the show shutdown because what is an Audience Surrogate without an Audience? It also explains why he seemed okayish during the talkshow log (he had an audience but wasn't acting as their surrogate) but not while "Off Camera" in his perspective videos (they weren't part of the show). It also helps to explain what he's doing now. He's seeking to fulfill his designed purpose, that's why hes reaching out like he is while the others aren't, they don't actually need the show running to fulfill their purposes. The restoration team have given him just enough "eyes" for him to begin to awake from his slumber.
The existential crisis from Eddie reminds me so much of that “daily routine” meme…eat breakfast, go to work, don’t let the existential dread in, DONT LET IN, aerobics, dinner 😂
I'm still so blown away by the amount of work put into this project. Tons of different media. Tons of planning. Wonderful world building absolutely incredible illustrations and omg a cookbook, catalog, the ads, all the merchandise. And the puzzles! So much detail. All of this is incredible. So much love and talent.
Yes, I was so disappointed in entitled fans pestering Clown to create more content for Welcome Home. Clown and their team are so amazing and talented. 😁
time flies so fast… at one point, it feels like i’m sitting by the fireplace, drinking hot cocoa.. and the next i’m lamenting over not getting any letters. hope ultrakill’s violence+ update comes out soon
Okay , my other theory is about what was happening with Eddie. When Eddie was at Wallys house which is HOME he sat down in Wallys chair , we all know that SOMETHING is under Home , Eddie sat down in Wallys chair. You might be thinking , Forest what does this have to do with Eddie ? Well answer me this question , have you seen anyone else sit in Wallys chair ? What if Wallys chair is connected to whatever is underneath Home and , its making Eddie more self-aware.
Personally, I think that it's simpler than that. Eddie had his routine disrupted and it made him anxious, but he can't say anything because the people he's with obviously meant well and will be upset with him if he doesn't act grateful. The horror of the scene is knowing that if Eddie is honest about what he's feeling then the neurotypical people in the room will all turn on him in an instant and likely become enraged at the fact that he's not sufficiently grateful for the efforts they went to in order to do something nice for him, never having considered how much he relies on his routine of delivering the mail in order to maintain his sense of security. Under those circumstances, he feels like every action of his is under scrutiny and he dissociates due to the emotions he's trying to hold in, putting in an immense internal effort to be seen as a well behaved and grateful guest at the party. I'm not saying that it can't be part of something more elaborate, but in isolation this is just something that a lot of people with autism will experience for real at some point in their lives.
A theory I've seen surrounding Eddie is that he might potentially be someone from the real world who somehow fell into the world of Welcome Home. If you read his back story, it talks about how he moved to home from a town he can't remember the name of to set up the Post Office, so him having this disassociating episode makes sense. Especially with him looking beyond the veil and potentially out into the real world. He might have had memories come back of what happened before he came to Home. Also, did anyone notice that at about 47:59, Eddie quickly mumbles something that sounds like "I want to go home?" (Also, shout out to the mug in the jello XD)
16:09 - 16:25 OH SHIT I JUST REALIZED SOMETHING! BEFORE THE "SEARCHING SKIP" THE AUDIO IS CLEARLY GRAINY LIKE THAT ONE FROM A VINYL. AFTER THE GLITCH IT'S COMPLETELY CLEAR, AS IF YOU'RE LISTENING TO SALLY TALKING DIRECTLY AT YOU! IT'S LIKE ENTERING INSIDE THE WORLD
that commercials video made me feel exactly how i felt when i discovered dont hug me im scared as a kid in elementary school this project has reached a whole new level that i didnt think was possible
I think one of my favorite visual aspects of Welcome Home is how much color is used. I always appreciate horror media that isn't afraid to go vibrant and bold! We need more of that.
Clown is boosting night mind as the top channel to get welcome home content. It doesn't surprise me that he might start sending actors his direction to make things interesting.
a new cabin fever dreams classic is just what i needed rn! almost feels like a warm greeting from a familiar location of some kind…a hospitable house perhaps? an amiable apartment?
Anyone else get the feeling Sally was observing Eddy while she was on the tree. She kept deflecting when she was asked why or how she got up there and she sounded flustered/nervious when she spoke to Eddy explaining why no one approached him over the presents. Was she observing him for something??
Definitely. She's the only one that knows there's something that eats neighbors at night and had she not been there, putting herself at risk by being a literal beacon at the top of a tree, Eddie would've been outside alone in the dark that night. The neighborhood was already in the process of forgetting him. Him being snatched up was probably the intention. EDIT: It seems like she was trying to stay in character but also look out for him. Sally's character doesn't like Eddie and always looks down on him. She can't outright go to his door and say "We're headed to Wally's for the party" because she wouldn't do that normally. Staying at the top of a tree to be a literal beacon for Santa in a display of dramatic vanity however? Definitely in character.
my hypothesis is that welcome home exists as a parallel dimension on top of our own, and wally somehow managed to start seeing into ours and is trying to reach out. wally can switch between Show perspective and Real perspective, and that video of Eddie dissociating on the seat at the party was him starting to see into Real perspective as well.
There's DEFINITELY something up with Home. I've seen people speculate that the image you get from clicking under Home's door is Wally worshipping Home, and maybe acting under the throes of a cosmic influence... but if so, I think he's trying to appease it out of *fear* rather than reverence. The way Wally talks about Home makes me think he knows something is wrong, but doesn't have the confidence to say it out loud. The "Can you hear me? Then be quiet" from the beginning... the way he seems to stop what he's doing whenever Home squeaks and changes the subject or just "has to go"... Hell, in this latest update on awayfrompryingeyes, the phone call makes it sound like he's not entirely happy to be alone with Home, and he perks up CONSIDERABLY when he mentions Barnaby is coming over. The Restoration team seems to imply that Wally is the main antagonistic force at play here: unsettling the others, acting the most like a puppet, gathering "So many new eyes", possibly the one spreading whatever is at work here... but I don't think Wally really has much of a -choice- in filling that role. And I think that, in the fleeting moments that he -can-, he's trying to figure out how to call for help. (Please answer, please speak to me, I need to know someone is there that can do somethin--)
Here's my interpretation of the "Homewarming" record: I believe Wally is going from neighbor to neighbor with Barnaby trying to figure out what will make Home happy because Wally is terrified that by chance Home is NOT happy, that the entity of Home will take over him like it has been, only this time Home will do something awful if it takes control or possession of him this time. Most people find it cute or dismiss Wally's repetitiveness of saying to each neighbor his problem by saying "I don't know how to do Homewarming with Home, and if I don't figure it out, I don't know what I'll do...." as nothing more than something purposefully done for a kids show, but since we all know Wally is monotone and smiles constantly and has autism, we can assume Wally visually doesn't or can't show that he's scared, so when he says "I dont know what I'll do..." he could actually be saying secretly "I don't know what awful things HOME is going to do once he/it takes control of me..."
The fact they removed all the bugs and stuff makes me sad. It added to the creepy glitchy feeling it gave me. But Clown must have something planned to make up for it
I love the cookbook. Reminds me of an old Peanuts "kids cookbook" that I inherited from my mom, where half the recipes were in there just cuz they looked cute. And even in food form, Wally's stare is unnerving.
My pc crashed when watching the commercials, I thought it was part of the show until it actually restarted lol. But yeah, hecking stellar project they got going here, love the attention to detail.
The thing that intrigues me the most right now is actually Home itself. It's the only character that has no real direct way of communicating, and I thought at first that it was going to be the villian. But what intrigued me is the whole scene with Eddie as it looks like Home was looking at Eddie, clearly aware of what's going on. It almost feels like Home is some kind of prison. But my question is: is Home another prisoner, or is it a warden? Or perhaps it's both? I'm bad at ARGs and other theroy heavy media, so I'll leave it to people more qualified.
YESSS as someone who couldn’t make it to the lives I know you did over this I’m so happy to have a straightforward video about all the info you’ve found!
Welcome Home's become one of my favorite horror media. Like, this and Shipwrecked are tales of discovering the hells that lie below the layer of an inviting vibe, and both are executed pretty well. The former is looking around the website and finding hidden media, the latter is working through codes placed around the game
Eddie Zonking out that hard is real to me. When I am out with family that I never speak to, or go to parties that a few friends invite me to… I feel out of place and I never know what to do. So I sit there and drift off.
fun fact: night mind actually narrated in one of the commercials, in specific the “sleep medication” ad. like to think that they casted night mind for the ad specifically advertising something to help you sleep intentionally.
I wouldn't be surprised, since he has been involved with the project in the past as the late night show host during the Wally and Barnaby live interview
For those who wanna know the lore but lack the ability/etc to dig themselves folks like you are a real lifesaver, thank you! The soothing voice you have helps too… like a spooky but comforting lullaby ^v^
I honestly feel bad for Clown. They made something beautiful and interesting and frightening, but then it was misinterpreted and spat upon until twitter teenies wanted to rip them asunder based purely upon non-existent interpretations of Clown's own damn characters. This story is interesting, and Clown's methods of creating it are absolutely fantastic. I only hope fans respect Clown's creation and especially Clown themselves.
When Eddy dissociates, he seems to realizes that... he's just a puppet. I mean, the fact we go from a cartoon point of view to a more real one with his hand being a puppet hand... What if all characters think they are a part of their own world but then realises that it's just... a show?
The insane recipes feel so period accurate. They remind me so much of the awful 50's through 70's recipes Dylan B Hollis goes through on his channel that are utterly inedible and clearly meant to look shiny and sell a product. They're a hilarious little parody aspect to this project!
I love Welcome Home because Clown has so much passion for the characters and story. And the amount of work that he puts into Welcome Home is astounding. It’s too bad what happened when Welcome Home became popular on TikTok because holy cow that was a mess and I think it scared people off of this amazing project
What better way to Welcome in spring then with a visit Home. Especially when after dealing with Cabin Fever all winter. It's like waking up from a Dream. Okay I will stop now.
I don't take your advice to go experience the original material nearly as often as I should. But I'm really glad I did this time and watched the commercials video on my own, because sleepy wally is illegally cute and I want to cuddle him forever I mean, because the animation was excellent and I really appreciate all the hard work clown and the others put in. Yeah. That second one.
Something I've noticed is Wally is the only character that the media actually refers to as a puppet. Obviously they're all puppets and obviously Wally is the only one that speaks and acts like he is to some extent, but Wally is the only character we've seen that refers to himself as a puppet with the line "A bit fuzzy, just like me" or media in general refers to as a puppet, with the line from the Ball and Cup advert saying "It's so easy even our favorite puppet can do it!" At least from what I remember. I'm probably remembering wrong.
I was listening to/watching this vid in my car. During the Eddie Dear dissociation video, when the party audio got so loud and distorted I had to turn it down... And after. That low constant heartbeat was so. So present. Encompassing. But subtle. That I wasn't sure at first if it was the video or my anxiety spiking. Aaaaaaa.
That's me, I'm Eddie! I relate so hard to not loving taking off from work. It is so difficult to relax, and everyone wants to go somewhere do something but all I can do is think about how I would rather be working.
It's wild how high effort this project is. There's so much care and so much skill put into this. The props are great, and the animation is absolutely spot on. I already thought this was pushing the envelope with the storytelling segment and the general quality of the art pieces, but this is pretty next level.
we are so lucky to be alive and active to see this absolute treasure play out, i mean, what a project! all the different mediums, the coordination, the amount of effort, and the story that comes out of it! you can absolutely feel the love in it, its amazing
I am so, so excited for the future of this project. Wally Darling and company mean so much to me and I can't wait to see how they grow as characters and where this story is going. Also, SyntheticCharm nailed it as always in his guest appearance. There's subtle emotional layers in Barnaby's voice which are really neat to hear.
Theres something in Homes walls...You can see it just in the side of the screen, moving around the bottom. Home is much more Alive then we all thought. Does Wally see it too?
as someone with dissociation issues at family events, i can really relate to the eddie moment. having no feeling of purpose around people is worse, knowing they care about you but you're not worth anything to them. (even if it's all in your head that darkness lingers)
It's interesting to me that Eddie didn't really start to "lose himself" until he took a second look at the pea on the plate. Almost as if his day (combined with this visual representation of it) made him realize that no matter what, we are all of us alone. We are singular entities, and there is nothing we can do about that.
I'm sure that this has been mentioned before, but the idea of the show actually existing in it's own universe apart from our own reminds me of that Futurama episode where Leela starts writing her own children's show, and it becomes hugely popular only for everyone to eventually discover that the whole thing was just Leela copying the storylines from the real everyday lives of creatures from another planet who just happen to be colorful, child-like, sort of muppetish aliens.
Things worth considering: Julie sings "We Three Queens" clearly substituting queens for kings. Then the coco is "The Queen's Game" coco jello. There's a notable Japanese novel/anime called The King's Game. It's about a death game what's contagious, where people are made to fulfill orders or face punishments.
I find what’s happened to Eddie so interesting. If the stuff we are seeing is happening after the fact, and it showing just how things fell apart, then what if Eddie is the one who delivered the contaminated evidence? They haven’t discovered who exactly is mailing them Welcome Home items, and if home wants to spread its influence to our world then it would need a mailman no? What if Home isolated Eddie and is slowly trying to put him under its control similar to Wally. That way he can use Eddie to mail the merchandise, and thus the strange black infection.
In regards to what happened with Eddie, I'm not sure about the single pea on a plate, but in old Christmas/midwinter traditions, the person who found the bean was king. He'd have a day of being treated very well. And then he was sacrificed to ensure the sun would rise again. This could explain the single pea, and also Eddie having no work for the day as he was being purified as the king. There used to be several pictures of the Eddie character being carried around as if he were a dead body. So this could be leading into Eddie Dear's disappearance from the show. There's really two characters I think we've seen in kind of "dead body form" Eddie Dear and Barnaby B. Beagle. So perhaps they're victims one and two. Also, "Don't forget to wave up high" In other words "Keep your hands at the level of your eyes" (Phantom of the Opera. People had a bad habit of getting hanged. )
I really truly do love this story element. Not just because it reminds one of Sesame Street, but also the other live action shows that don’t get any real mention outside of their respective communities: Fraggle Rock (only the live action version. It once was a cartoon as well), it also has a hint of those classic children shows: Rainbow Brite, Carebears, etc. The shows that I have mentioned are actually much darker than one realizes upon first viewing. The bright colors and the “messages” that they give to children, but also the darker elements: the hint of someone dying, a little creature lost, etc. If you think that 80s cartoons were all sunshine and rainbows, let me remind you that in the pilot of Rainbow Brite, her original name was Wisp and she arrived in the Rainbow world when it was all dark and gloomy. Think Carebears is about friendship and getting along with one another? In the original cartoon series as well as the movies, really bad things happen. The villain from the second Carebear movie almost drowned! In the first, the Carebears and Carebear Cousins arrived in Care-a-lot when it was under the rule of No Heart. I can go on and mention that in Fraggle Rock, there were little creatures that the Fraggles constantly harassed. The little beings were construction workers who used special materials for their own little land hidden from the Fraggles because they, the Fraggles, would EAT THE CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS causing multiple failures that were pretty awful if you think about it. The Fraggles constantly made those little beings homeless. I seem to remember at some point there was mention of a Great War faught between the Fraggles and the Dowsers (I think) and by the end of it, it was believed that the Fraggles had unalived all of the Dowsers. Oh, they did feel some remorse, but it was mainly because the Dowsers, again let me remind you, used the Fraggles favorite food as building material. I get the same feeling while listening to Welcome Home. Everything is so bright.. and beautiful, sunshine and rainbows… but there’s this under current of something sinister that lies just beneath the surface. Which now after seeing this I have so many questions: 1. What is the black smudges that appears through out the website. It seems to have some sort of link between Welcome Home and our world. 2. If there is a portal between our realities, just how did Wally come upon it? He seems… rather aloof to anything outside of the Welcome Home world. But I just realized something: Wally doesn’t sound tired. It feels like he is repeating something that he’s said hundreds of times, and each time it takes a little of his soul. 3. Is House the portal between our worlds? Or… as what was initially thought of: is House something Wally has to keep “happy” or else, something bad, something VERY bad will happen? 4. It’s interesting that when Eddie sits in Wally’s chair, he slowly begins to realize that there is more out there. An entire reality even. Is Wally’s chair a link to whatever lives beneath House? 5. In the beginning of the story, we hear Wally sing to House. Singing is something that is often used in media to “quiet the savage beast”. It appeared that Wally would have to sometimes sing to House to keep it occupied. 6. Again, in the original coverage of Welcome Home, we are in a dark area… with Wally’s eyes peering back at us. But has anyone else noticed something… odd? Those aren’t Wally’s eyes. Yes, we hear his voice in this area/dream but their eyes are completely different. Wally outside of these moments has the sharper eyes. So if they are supposed to belong to Wally, why the odd change? Again, every other time you see Wally, his eyes are drooping but then in other moments, specifically these black windows with a pair of eyes, they are sharper more cat-like. 6. And last but not least, this really does feel like a cautionary tale, wouldn’t you agree? Welcome Home had all been but forgotten, so who pointed them in the right direction? I seem to remember someone randomly mentioning the website and it’s just fascinating to witness.
Welcome Home just gets better and better all the time! I'm so glad Clown didn't get completely discouraged by the harassment/entitlement of some fans. This whole thing really seems like an "official" (for lack of better terms) project with a budget and everything, given how many different types of media are used, the quality of everything, attention to detail, just. UGH it's so good! I'm always waiting for more Welcome Home!
So many people try to figure out what the single pea means (is it an eye is it a metaphor etc) but it says on it's page in the cookbook that you should add as many peas as there are people invited- We have gotten proof that when the cameras roll we are seeing one thing and when they are not rolling there's more beyond what they portray on tv. Perhaps the pea means he is alone or feels isolated enough to feel alone which leads to that existential crisis. Either way mug jello will forever make me laugh.
Brooooo I was literally going through such a bad depressive episode and seeing this upload felt like my heart gave a fucking cheer. Thanks for being so fun and spooky, you're up there in my top five eldritch faves~
I like the idea that whatever evil is affecting the neighborhood got to Wally first, but because of his autism the others never noticed like with Eddie. It could make for a cool double-reversal, like 1. you think Wally is possessed, 2. nevermind he's just autistic, 3. actually no it's both oh shit
For the question of which came first, the show or the universe it's set in, I actually think that Welcome Home was its own world first, and the show making crew coming in and recording them, setting up stories and roles for them is suddenly starting to make their world fall apart and get corrupted
I very much appreciate these videos because, especially with how online horror is now, I have to be incredibly careful for flashing lights so I’m unable to actually go through these args

If you read the 'recipe' for the pea on a plate, it specifically says that if you have more diners, to add one pea for each, but be sure to not let them be too close to each other. I think this signifies how each character is kept largely isolated from each other save in a very superficial way, and that Eddy was suddenly aware of that lack of real connections.
i know right?? it definitely means something like that imo
I think this is definitely it bc the not so silent night thing sounded like what I remember family holiday get togethers to be. Just a bunch of fighting and slamming. Which would happen imo if some of these characters were put in a room together for the show and then the show portion of it ends.
Okay but also IT'S AN EYE YOU GUYS
THE PEA ON A PLATE IS WATCHING YOU!!
Now THAT is a fascinating (and terrifying) thought.
I think i also heard a rhythmic beat in the background of the static. Could it be Home's heart? The red Eddie saw, i mean
OH SHIT
That's what I thought too that he was becoming like self aware maybe? I mean the puppet parts of him in the post office are obviously outside of the show and that started appearing again after Eddie sits down and the show "ends".
It feels like the line "eddie dear was happy" is the cutoff between segment and non recorded elements

It just occurred to me:
The pea on a plate is an eye. The pea being the iris, and the plate being the rest of the eye.
Oh my, that actually makes sense!
I definitely felt that when I watched the video on the website. I think you're 100% correct.
Especially when you consider how the repeated shot of Eddie’s pea on the plate is substituted for Home’s eye in the last part of the dissociation commercial!
Omfg why didnt I put this together sooner?!🫵🤘
It also resembles the label on an LP, which I think is also intended as part of the same eye symbolism
So the unresponsive thing could be how Wally started out as the Whatever He Is that doesn't understand people, and he's just regressing right now.
yeah the affliction is autism. wally just has a flat affect and doesnt maintain eye contact. i doubt you intended this, but its really depressing to see wally just chilling and being called "infirm" for it. also barnaby is his boyfriend bc i say so :)
wally is canonically autistic. im autistic myself and sometimes your loved ones really will just get used to you zoning out on occasion

The more you think about it the funnier it gets
Absolutely love this take
Suppose targeting Eddie also makes sense in that he's the mailman. Probably sees way more people and more of the village than Wally does on any given day. Him being emotionally drained that evening just made the hijacking easier 🤔
I love this idea. Poor Eddie though. I wonder if Wally regrets giving into Home
cant wait for the whole cast to recreate more exciting avenues in "being at a party while ND". wallys not making eye contact and chilling and eddies dissociating, love that for them

THE PERFECT MEDICATION TO KEEP THE HORRORS FROM MANIFESTING
I think he doesn't sleep in general, but I like the theory that he's struggling to rest at all.
If Eddie is aware now, maybe he was the one sending stuff to the restoration team. They were sent using his envelopes, after all.

@tobysinbad I like this interpretation!

Did…. did you get Barnaby’s Va to help with the video?! That’s amazing. There are no cats in welcome home so he has to be talking to you!
I think Sally knows more than she lets on. She was the one to notice the thing that lurks outside and the static during her section of the Halloween section disappeared. She also seemed startled that Eddie was out of the post office, and it seemed like she was lying about delivering the presents for Eddie.
It's probably Home.
Sally is also the only “outsider” of the show, with being from the stars. Maybe she notices stuff more because of that?
I love when Barnaby acknowledged NM by addressing him as "whiskers" 😂😂😂

You might be thinking , Forest what does this have to do with Eddie ? Well answer me this question , have you seen anyone else sit in Wallys chair ? What if Wallys chair is connected to whatever is underneath Home and , its making Eddie more self-aware.
That's a pretty good theory.
@@austinrimel7860 thanks , it means a lot
my in welcome home tv show universe reason for why he's not in the christmas special is that he's jewish
@casanovafunkenstein5090 I like your theory , it makes sense , but what about how Home was staring at Eddie ?
17:12 love how Wally is the only one smiling during the scary story.
He physically can't frown 😭 He's permanently smiling for better or for worse
A theory I've seen surrounding Eddie is that he might potentially be someone from the real world who somehow fell into the world of Welcome Home. If you read his back story, it talks about how he moved to home from a town he can't remember the name of to set up the Post Office, so him having this disassociating episode makes sense. Especially with him looking beyond the veil and potentially out into the real world. He might have had memories come back of what happened before he came to Home.
Also, did anyone notice that at about 47:59, Eddie quickly mumbles something that sounds like "I want to go home?"

Eddie trying to stay happy about not having packages has me crying
Here's my interpretation of the "Homewarming" record:
I believe Wally is going from neighbor to neighbor with Barnaby trying to figure out what will make Home happy because Wally is terrified that by chance Home is NOT happy, that the entity of Home will take over him like it has been, only this time Home will do something awful if it takes control or possession of him this time.
But Clown must have something planned to make up for it
I believe if necessary, "W" could add records of them in their site.
In universe, the errors are invasive so they might make a come back?
It's part of the story remember? The in universe creators of the site said they cleaned it. W might add all that stuff back to their site though 🙏
LMAOO args have so much "control" over computers now
THAT dissociation sequence was so uncomfortable, I love it
Nick coming in clutch with the anomalous lore. Let me grab a cup of coffee from SCP-294 (NOT a cup of Joe) and enjoy this research document.
the cookbook reminds me of umm like when "two or three siblings who wanted to cook for their parents but the end result is uh not great."
Can you please take a look at this project? It's called "Happy Artists" by Faby Saturn.
28:40 took the advice and listened
And holy hell WALLY IS SO much more energetic then normal!
Also Is this the first time they address the narrator?
Benefits of being up at almost two in the morning: being early to this video
Good sleep schedules are overrated
At 17:46 , Wally's long, monotone scream never fails to make me laugh. 😆
He said it wasn't him in stream. Did he confirm it on Twitter or something?
@@rebelliousone6182 what stream was that

Imagine dissociating so hard you discover the Eldritch Truth
But I'm really glad I did this time and watched the commercials video on my own, because sleepy wally is illegally cute and I want to cuddle him forever
I mean, because the animation was excellent and I really appreciate all the hard work clown and the others put in. Yeah. That second one.
I really like the Eddie disassociation scene. It felt like watching what it feels like for me to go through a bad episode. Made me feel seen...
I thought the same while watching it too, really captured what being in that moment feels like
Not enough to say this cringe shit on Twitter, huh? Good grief.
@JG-tr8ph
so like... are you calling having mental illness symptoms cringe or?? what are you trying to achieve here because it makes no sense
HOLLY JUMPSCARE??? the voice actors are killing it!!
Nick's performance as the mail man is top notch
"you ever dissociate so hard at the Christmas party you see through to the underlayer of reality?" amazing. no notes.
what timestamp? I wanna see that
Theres something in Homes walls...You can see it just in the side of the screen, moving around the bottom.
WE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE 😭🫶
SAME😭
SAME 😭 WHY YOU GOT THAT ICON THO DUDE? THATS not very neighbourly
Sally's story and the sudden jump to crystal clear audio always makes my skin crawl. Really looking forward to what they keep creating!
The real villain is the singular pea
Things worth considering: Julie sings "We Three Queens" clearly substituting queens for kings. Then the coco is "The Queen's Game" coco jello. There's a notable Japanese novel/anime called The King's Game. It's about a death game what's contagious, where people are made to fulfill orders or face punishments.
"Whose kid is this" really got me 😁😂😂
The fact that it was the Scarborough fair melody really elevated that
I find what’s happened to Eddie so interesting.
Which now after seeing this I have so many questions:
BABE WAKE UP WELCOME HOME NIGHT MIND UPDATE
This has been bugging me ever since I watched a Welcome Home video done by Inside A Mind.
19:23 The voice here sounds so familiar to me! Oh. It just clicked. He sounds like Yogi Bear from the old Hanna Barbera cartoons
