I cannot believe since dx12 release devs still have problems doing it right...this should really be adressed since dx12 doesnt offer any improvement with non competent devs.
The game runs with software RT on by default, when you trigger it on in options, you're using the hardware mode. My guess is when you run on dx11, you force it to disable and then you gain some extra fps. You may notice less Vram usage on every scenarios.

@@I-MAC We can't buy non-RTX cards anymore, lol. Nvidia stopped making GTX cards at 16 series. Only 70, 80 and 90 cards has a decent RT performance, below this you may have problems in some games.
i was expecting a patch few days after its released since it has stuttering problem, i finished the game now, i think they was not planning to release any patches soon, this is the game no patch nothing, just finish it and be done with it

In dx12 i can't play because it drops down to 16 fps with settings to low, fsr3 performance and all the settings i can put down to low, i did it and it is not playable. In dx11 is other world, i am playing at 1080p native medium settings, low textures, without any upscaler and it reachs 30 but it is a beautiful image. I cant go down more settings, put all to low and 75% res and it goes to 65 to 80 fps. I think it is for the vram.. in god of war ragnarok it happens the same, no matter how low i put the game, it is unplayable because it drops fps and stays under 20..
why the fu.. there are not implenting vulkan? Every game i have what have this option, run way more smooth and with higher FPS as DX12...most of the time even without these micro stutter.

@@waroogames Trust me, it stutters on everything. Console, PC... everything. Some has small stutters, barely noticeable, some has much bigger. But the frame pacing is definitely off way too often. I wish Bloober Team would fix it but it's such a common Unreal Engine 5 issue, I'm not sure if it's possible for them to fix it.

@@luxoflux5064 an API doesn't dictate graphics quality, just feature complexity level and pipeline efficiency. There's no _visual_ difference between Vulkan and DirectX. An API is an _instruction_ set to tell hardware what to process, and in what order of operations.
There is very little difference between DX11 and DX12 in terms of features that the player will notice. I would say that the only thing that you sacrifice is raytracing, if any.

DLSS works on DX11. If you use DXVK along with DX11 you get rid of almost all stutter in the game but you loose DLSS, so DXVK+DX11 = no sttuter, no DLSS and more fps. DX11 = DLSS, more fps and less stutter than DX12. DX12 = DLSS, less fps and stutter fest
DX12 uses more vram in general. It's newer technology, and newer tech has higher requirement floors. There was a time where 1gb of vram was future proof.
You can actually turn on FSR3 FG in UE5 if you're running Dx12. In Engine.ini you can right click and open with NotePad (only while the game is running and make sure you close and restart after), then at the very bottom add [SystemSettings] and under that type r.FidelityFX.FI.Enabled=1 and then just make sure you turn on FSR3 and it will nearly double your FPS from the game engine

Every Unreal Engine game will stutter, at this point there is nothing that can be done, even with DX11, now, you may see more stuttering if you have a GPU with less than 8gb, other than that, the common traversal stutter across all hardware will still happen

Didn't work, but setting the game to launch with dx9 helped. Or its a placebo effect. Tried dx11 but the game wouldn't run or would crash on launch.

If you're having performance problems you should not use Ray Tracing.

I noticed that doing this messes up controllers, dualshock4 in my case. It makes the sensitivity higher and registers d-pad inputs twice.
