I knew Marcus and told him how much I loved this remix. He said he hated it. He was a moody, honest and self critical perfectionist and I mean that with all the love in the world.
He was a realist and artist to the bone. Talked with him many times. Favorite moment was in Orlando around 2004 when he was touring with Calibre. Bumped into him at the bar while Calibre was dropping Signs. All time memory.
Still sounds so fresh. The original is a bona fide Garage classic but this beats it hands down. Perfection :) RIP Marcus and thank you for the wicked tunes.
I love Jungle / DnB (and I mean LOVE, lol), but this is no where near as good as the original, which IMO is one of those classics that doesn't need a remix.
Top 5 DnB producers. Criminally underrated and untalked about. Andy C - the God Emperor of DnB- LOVED Intalex tunes and they were a critical part of his legendary set building. This track was golden-era fabric pilling underground vibes. No smartphones, no mainstream garbage. Pure, raw, unadulterated, meaningful uncut DnB. I miss you Marcus. I love you Marcus. I'm sorry to his family. Rest assured the man's legend is set in stone and will reverberate through the ages.
the people who mattered always backed marcus in their sets, and asides from that the core audience during these years all knew what was what in the scene and werent reliant on the big names to dictate what was running or not.. i think it would be a lot harder now if you were releasing quality tunes but nobody knew who you were because there is such a flooded supply of people making tunes and trying to come up
This is great as a riddim in itself, but not a patch on the original Garage classic, which didn't need any remix IMO! They could've just dropped the vocal snippets from 'Sincere' out and made this a track in it's own right - it's got vibes!
The drop is at 2:11. You can't miss, pretty deep bassline. This was ages before Skrillex and ages before the entire length of tunes became 2-3 minutes. Tunes were meant to breathe and flow back then.
I guess you could say the same about the original then? I can hear a loud warm sub-bass in both the original and the remix…are you listening on a 1965 car radio?
