she is my mother to a t. who along with my granddaughter fell prey to Washington state's DSHS. who not only deals in financial welfare but also likes to play God thinking they should have control over people's lives. this film really struck a nerve with me. the victim looking and acting so much like my mother who was forced into palliative care when her death was not imminent. she lasted 1 month and died Feb 2nd of 2022
I don't know if I ever wanted a character to die more. Her performance is incredible and I know you're supposed to hate her.. but damn. The fact she gets away with everything makes this movie hard to watch(and the fact that this actually happens to people).
Its a tough job to act so sociopathically that the audience wants to jump into the screen to strangle your character, but Pike accomplishes it brilluantly. The juggling of the power dynamic by Wiest is subtle at first, due to her drugged state, but she forces it off thru sheer will power, showing the source of grit and determination her son possesses. Well written, acted and shot.
I think the movie ending would have been better with Jennifer rolling by with her son, as if they’d set up a hit & with Jennifer pulling up her shades, like Olenna Tyrell on GOT with the gangster, “tell Cersei it was me” moment. Cut to a news montage, like it’d been a deranged fan who’d killed Marla.
Nice but I wanted Marla and her wife to be institutionalized and treated to the Oatmeal/soup diet with no contact with other people and suffer the cruelty they put on their victims.
@@prestuvius Did you notice that I wrote oscar with lower case? That's because oscar these days LOST it's value just about completely. (Nobel Price is following very closely.) Why would you reward this exceptional actress with a crappy award ?
"Have at it" would have chilled me to the bone. When you threaten someone like that with the complete upper hand..... and they don't care? They know some shit you don't, and it's time to rethink the plan.
we are dealing with this right now in Washington state. state imposed guardianship of a disabled adult. you would think there is no family to care for this person. not so! she does have family. dcyf leaves no stone unturned. and the judges in family court seal the deal.
They are all corupted! Social workers,judges... they know what they do. Cps are the worst! Kiddnaping kids form parents and selling them to pedos,satanists... the same pattern all around the world!
This would have been such a serve if several scenes la😮ter rosmund pike didn't team up with Peter (the boss) this movie had every potential to go there, but they just didn't. Dianne West is absolutely the winner here.. I love movies and the reason I love this one is because Everytime I watch it I'm literally like "wtf"
Good shot. Rosamund is pretty insane. But sequência e of events poorly invented. All the way to the middle it was ok but then lost its track. Initially the movie doesn’t convince the viewer as to its genre: there’s a pitch and pinch of everything comedy, action, POLICIAL but nothing of commitment. The Russian mafia was looking like “os trapalhões” the stupidest group of guys from a Brazilian show. The North American making them looking like lemon. Ha ha ha. No way. But what nonplussed me a lot was the sequence of events such as Marla surviving after a disaster on the lake, she pursuing the mafia as revenge, mafia opens a bonafide business with her and yada yada… Bullshit!! anyways, there were plenty of inconsistencies in the movies’ idea.… I was expecting the other way around…. Well, at least a sapatona slayed beautifully at the finale. I emphasize again, Netflix is out of new ideas and not caring about the execution along the way. Its paying attention to amount instead of excellency
Even though Katherine Zeta Jones play the hell out of Cocaine Godmother Griselda Blanco, but I think Diane Weist would have killed that role. She’s a 🔥🔥 actress.
Brilliant scene. Dianne Wiest manages to be both grandmotherly and menacing Fantastic performances across the board.

Jen: Youreee a robber!
Marla: Noooo...Im your guardian.
Jen: YOUREE MY GUARDIAN ROBBERR!
😂🤣
"Have at it!" Rosamund won the Golden Globe for this performance.

"Who are you?"
"So much drugs"
So many phenomenal performances in this movie. Bravo to Diane Wiest!

That would've been a good twist.
Dianne should have gotten another Oscar nomination for this role.
Why oscar ?
@@-First-Last Because it’s a movie that was eligible for Oscars..?

I loved this lady in this movie
She was the mom in the movie Edward Scissorhands mother of Edward Scissorhands love interest.
@@selfesteem3447 I can't believe I didn't recognize her wow

Phenomenal scene. Dianne Wiest’s character is drugged up and still manages to chew this other woman up and spit her out.
I really like crock a C**t … it’s kinda like the ! Needed at the end of that sentence 😊
She was so cruel in this film. She could have just taken the money but she drugs and hurts this poor women.

I think HBO should make another Sopranos type of mob show, but this time... the ruthless patriarch is a mother played by Wiest.

I need a other movie like this
Rosamund Piper did another movie where you wish she would get her just due: Gone Girl.
LOL!!

Kkkkkkakkkk
Good points. Why would she go into business with the mafia if as a guardian, she had access to all their wealth already?
I hate that Marla
DIONISE THERON .................................................NO WORDS ?????????????????
side of her to their advantage. I couldnt speak up for myself until my people who i thought were my friends repeatedly disrespected me.

These two actress are dangerous! Rosamund Pike is a milion dollar !
Probably would've backed off after that kinda conversation.
Did she get caught
Want me to tell you what happens?
She gets shot
Even better… 💀
