Sage advice for an emergency kit. Personally, I think the Weather Radio is a huge plus, especially when the cell phone may not have coverage. EXCELLENT Video Jerry.
I get longer life from my truck battery by keeping it full of water. I had a mechanic tell me one time that that is the reason batteries die many times, because they went dry, even sealed ones.
Great information as usual! I have a golf umbrella that has UV protection in it, and it really makes a difference if you need to use it as protection from the sun. One thing I learned after an incident that I had on a busy highway with a teeny shoulder is that any emergency items or tools that you take with you should be kept on the passenger side so that you can get them out while away from traffic. I keep lap sealant with me, but I'm wondering how long that stuff lasts in the tube, especially in hot climates. Is it good for a long time, or should it be replaced with a fresh tube every so often?
'GOLDEN YEARS TRAVELING' Hello, Jerry and Joan. God bless you both and your fur babies. Thank you for this very helpful video about important items you need in and for your particular type RV rig. Being disabled and not easy getting around, I am always seeing different items that MIGHT assist us in our travels. I try and keep my tow vehicle stocked with the important tools and specialty equipment but if I do not prepare in advanve, it seems like the first thing I will need is something I pulled out of the truck or trailer while in my shop and DID NOT put back. Boy Scouts...always be PREPARED should be embossed on your brain cells. So importasnt for RVing. Be Safe, Be Well, Be Prepared and safe travels. Steve and Diana
Thanks for making videos like these-we constantly learn. We will soon be on the road for longer trips so these are great recommendations-keep these type of videos coming! We too love RV Life!
If I have one of those elbows that connects to a hose and back flushes the black tank, is the five gallon bucket method necessary? This comment may be for another video you did that I can't find. ha.
I use the 5 gallon bucket for our mid bath where we don’t have a tank scrubber. If we’re traveling, not an issue. We have plenty of water going into the tank to keep it wet and prevent build up. The issue is when the 5th wheel will sit for a few months between our travel seasons. We don’t want any residual sludge to sit in the bottom of the tank and harden. Dumping 5 gallons of water in the tank after the last dump for the season helps flush the gunk.
Thank you Jerry, for this wealth of information! I've sent this video to my email for future reference and purchasing decisions. I especially appreciate your differentiation between the types of roof sealants and why use eternabond tape. Cheers!

Thanks Tim.
Does the lap sealant keep well after opening
I tape the ends which helps, but still need to run a large nail or piece of coat hanger to clear the tube.
As always, thanks Jerry!

Thanks Bruce.
I always carry a PEX repair kit, PEX crimping tool, handful of clamps, about 2 ft of PEX tubing
Great tip. We have one. Never had to use on our 5th wheels, but made a repair on my daughter’s camper.
Great information . Thank you

Good tip on tool placement. As long as you keep the tubes dry they’ll hold up a long time. Once wet the tubes fail quickly.

Thanks so much Steve. Agree on being prepared. We try to keep RV stuff separate from home stuff. Helps, but we goof too.

Glad we could help. Thanks for watching.
Perhaps not an emergency, but we also carry extra keys. Of course, if we lose a set (as I am infamous for doing), it is an emergency. 😁
Great tip.
