We took a trip to the Home of Kunta Kinteh in The Gambia to visit our Roots. It was a very emotional trip that I believe every Black Person should take and learn about our roots. Even though I was born and raised in The Gambia this was my first ever trip to James Island so its never too late. Please sit down relax and enjoy this amazing travel vlog form us.

I was of the impression that Alex Haley was a direct decendant of Kunta Kinte and the book was based on tales passed down the generations. I believe he visited The Gambia and interviewed members of his family there and Kinte family members that were residing in the UK.

It has been since discovered that Alex Hailey had NO RELATIONSHIP to Kunta and that he actually stole that story

it's moving to see your trip, The Gambia is magnificent, so many African countries to visit and so poorly known because bad images are often conveyed by the media. Fortunately, people like you show us the beauty of mama Africa. I haven't yet been able to visit Gambia, a brother country of Senegal and Mali which, if I'm not mistaken, are part of the former Empire of Mali. Thank you Amy for these wonderful images.
