Since very early on, Dean's been railing against God and his inactivity, and none of Chuck's statements in Seasons 4, 5 and 11 have justified his total abandonment of his creation. He did that because he wanted to. He was never on their side; always on his own. So he makes sense as a final villain in any presidency.
Jack said Chuck's mistake was writing himself into the story. That's why he can seem so caring now but so evil later. He wanted to be good and caring but once involved he started taking sides, he got personally frustrated and disappointed and tired. In the end he just wanted the story to end.

Not a lot fans know this but this scene, this is Robbie Thompson's (one of the best writers on the show) farewell to the show and fans after five years. Chuck: "You know I lied before... This honesty thing is really freeing" those lines and what they hint at make a lot more sense now, in a sinister/upsetting way.
this was like watching different pieces of a mosaic painting come together to form a perfect whole: the amulet, burning bright like a star in Deans hand, giving light and hope to both Winchesters; the look of quiet sadness and renewed admiration in Metatrons eyes as he looked upon his father; Chuck/God singing with such heartfelt poignancy as he finally decides to take action...everything just came together...and it was BEAUTIFUL
**spn ending spoilers** anyone think dean only died on a hunt that should’ve been so easy for them was because chuck had been protecting them the whole way, trying to ensure he got the ending he wanted and when he was killed, well there was nothing looking out for them.
They had a plot line where chuck took his favoritism away and the boys had more trouble. Dean started feeling terrible from all the cheeseburgers and pie he eats, etc.

Such a great show acting is superb specially Jensen Ackles i think he is one of the best actors on Tv the way he portrays dean specially showing emotion its as real as it gets i have never seen a person cry like that and looks so real
The painful think about this song this episode is after i watched it, i remembered my cousin that passed away he sounded like him the voice i miss him so much. farewell cousin. RIP.
Wow Rob Benedict singing and acting, awesome best version of this song i have heard, Curtis Armstrong's acting in this scene when Chuck sings, powerful no words his face says everything you need, supernatural is my favorite show right from the start, so many great scenes and episodes but this has to be close to number one, keep em coming .
I have a theory and I'm not sure if others are on board with this. The look on Metatron's face @2:50 after he reads what Chuck wrote along with the song he is singing may indicate that he plans on sacrificing himself to save his greatest creation. Metatron looks sad more than anything. I don't think he was writing his autobiography for himself. He is writing it because he wants to be remembered in an honest way after he is truly gone. He looks like he is truly feeling the lyrics when he says 'I'll be gone' @2:54. Chuck did say that music was one of the best things humanity created. He has a passion for it and the meaning behind the words is just killing me at this point. Also looking ahead, "Alpha and Omega" is the finale title. The title could be interpreted multiple ways though. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK!?
yes I thought the same thing, because metatron won't feel bad for the boys he hates them he even killed dean. I really respect metatron after this episode and I used to hate him. also how do you know the last episode is called "Alpha and Omega"?
+Travis V I don't know, I kind of came away with the feeling that he is afraid of his sister, and fears they would destroy each other in the end. That doesn't mean it is set in stone that they will though, like when he tossed his last script, nothing is concrete. Remember the turns this show has taken, they aren't going to give the season ending away so easily, something is going to happen, most likely Dean saving the day, again.
I adore that jaw clench at 3:01. There just seems to be so much emotion in that one tiny movement. He's saying goodbye, he's taking care of his creations the best way he can see, by sacrificing himself, but it isn't easy for him. Makes me sad every time. :(
If this is foreshadowing the end of the season, WOW! No better way to go out. What a voice! BTW, did anyone bust a gut when Chuck revealed himself as God and the holy light shined in the beginning of the episode, with classical music just happened to start playing as the light shined?
+zeroherrera Not just any classical music, the fucking Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah. As a music nerd and supernatural fan I just about died when that happened.
+zeroherrera predicted it back when he was shown as the writer of the show. why else would he have a high angel protecting him because NONE of the others did.
Actually, since no prophets were active while any archangels were alive/or free to act, there is no reason to believe that prophets didn't have them as protectors. The prophets that came after almost obtained angelic protection, but Heaven was in no way capable of carrying it out to the same degree as before the Apocalypse. As he stated, Chuck hid in plain sight and positioned himself in such a way that he could see what was transpiring, with NO ONE being the wiser. The only method of prediction we had available were the hints dropped that connected him to an all seeing figure and the few biblical references, as well as the end of season 5 with his sudden change and disappearance.
+zeroherrera the last part you wrote i agree with 100%. I knew he was god at the end of Swan Song when he faded away in a white mist...it also simpolizies the creator of supernatural Erik Kripke leaving the show and not writing anymore for it.
was catching up on Supernatural, binge-watching. This song awoke me nicely after 5 years of depression. Woke up smiling, how lovely. Thank you Chuck x x x

The fact God said 'suit yourself' to his son, like a real actual parent 😍
That was one of the best touching musical performances I have ever seen! Rob Benedict, you are phenomenal. This episode as well-wow. Possibly one of the best episodes of the show yet!!!!! It made me cry!!
This was the Chuck we loved and look what happened.
I love this episode and this song, he is a good singer
The man can still sing so wonderfully even after a stroke. Bless him.
And just this once. Everyone lives! (I couldn't resist)
This is the single greatest comment I have seen!
+Do I have to, Cause I Don't Wanna
EVERYBODY LIVES ROSE! Everybody lives.
+Alyssa Chaparro : And now dance.
Alyssa Chaparro ooh yes!
Couldnt ask for a better T.V show, every season has been amazing and drags you through an emotional roller-coaster. Hope it never ends ^^
If I had wings like Noah's dove
I'd fly up the river to the one I love
Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well
If I met your man, who was long and tall
I'd hit his body like a cannon ball
Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well
I remember one night, a drizzling rain
Round my heart I felt an achin' pain
Fare thee well, oh honey, fare thee well
One of these mornings, it won't be long
You call my name and I'll be gone
Fare thee well, my honey, fare thee well
The last stanza hurts like a bitch
*I knew a man-
*He moved his body like
Reading these messages is like opening up a time capsule...
i tell myself "you are only gonna watch this once." *watches it 17 times* "Well crap."
been listening to this song from chuck on and off through good times and bad since I first saw this episode. It'll probably never get old. to me
Such a great show acting is superb specially Jensen Ackles i think he is one of the best actors on Tv the way he portrays dean specially showing emotion its as real as it gets i have never seen a person cry like that and looks so real
This is one of my favorite episodes, thanks to that smokey voice that Chuck has.
An even bigger emotional hit knowing it's Fare thee well after 15 seasons for Supernatural. Thanks for the Phenomenal memories 👏
And we find the supernatural doesn't care about anyone but himself
This was by far my favorite season. All the others were obviously great but season 11 was just absolutely amazing
This scene is still BEAUTIFUL. Season 14 didn't change anything.
+Natalia Romero they have it listed on the wiki. Titles are usually known well in advance
+Travis V ohh thanks 😊😊😊
+Natalia Romero No problem! :)
*creates every language*
*doesn't actually learn them*
Raised Phoenix He still gave them the ability to learn languages
Raised Phoenix but what if an italian person who knew some important information met him? He would need to learn the language.
didn't watch the video huh? he can just give himself the ability..
I would reply and state my answer but I'm pretty sure after a year after this comment that you would have figured it out by now
@Mew Worthy Pretty sure he made nokian, since that's what the angels speak and they predate humans by like a billion years.
I remember loving Chuck here/when he was introduced
Oh my Chuck !!!
The editing on this episode is outstanding. From the Winschester boys Reaction to Metatron and back to Chuck is sublime.
man they really got me with this song
i love this song and its music its breathtaking
I remeber getting goosebumps the first time seeing this now chuck is just a spoiled child
The music in the part where Sam and Dean finally see Chuck...chilling and beautiful
I adore that jaw clench at 3:01. There just seems to be so much emotion in that one tiny movement. He's saying goodbye, he's taking care of his creations the best way he can see, by sacrificing himself, but it isn't easy for him. Makes me sad every time. :(
Awww! It's such a beautiful scene and the song just makes me want to cry. Thank you so much for posting ♡
If this is foreshadowing the end of the season, WOW! No better way to go out. What a voice! BTW, did anyone bust a gut when Chuck revealed himself as God and the holy light shined in the beginning of the episode, with classical music just happened to start playing as the light shined?
+zeroherrera YUP!
Gosh I love his voice so much
THIS SONG TOUCHES MY SOUL
Chuck's face when he goes "You'll call my name, and I'll be gone" gives me feelings...
was catching up on Supernatural, binge-watching. This song awoke me nicely after 5 years of depression. Woke up smiling, how lovely. Thank you Chuck x x x
Sure because depression can be solved with one simple song
What an emotional-roller-coaster of an episode this was!. Sadness, Fear, and Joy all rushing in with each scene. See, Michael Bay this is how you produce a cinematic gem.
What a fantastic voice he has!
This song examparizes how I'm feeling learning supernatural is about to end. I'm so sad about the loss.
Love! Love! Love! Rob Benedict is amazing!
guys, you can now download this version from soundcloud! Misha tweeted the link, it's totally legal. Just the best fandom ever. Here's the link: soundcloud.com/watertowermusic/supernatural_faretheewell_dinkssong
2:54 just gives me chills every time, the emotion he portrays on his face just says everything in that moment. amazing!
If I had wings like Noah’s dove
I’d fly the river to the one I love
Fare thee well, oh, honey
Fare thee well
Early one morning, a drizzling rain
And in my heart, I felt an aching pain
Fare thee well, oh, honey
Fare thee well
One of these mornings, it won’t be long
You’ll call my name and I’ll be gone
Fare thee well, oh, honey
Fare thee well
If I had wings like Nora’s dove
I’d fly up the river to the one I love
Fare thee well, oh, honey
Fare thee well
Metatron's face at 2:42 heartwrenching
saw Rob play it at the recent MINNCON this weekend and it was amazing!!! I really hope they add it his bands next album
I could listen to this song over and over.
I immediately wanted this song and this actor played it better, this was a freaking awesome episode
kc2788x after this I came across some videos from cons of Rob singing and realized how talented he is. I know I'm a year late to your comment but check out Louden Swain.
Just WOW! this was one of the best episodes from the whole show! So many feelings :')
Watching this scene after season 14's final...
Rob is such an amazing singer and I love him
