i don’t think blackpink’s concept changed, rather the style of their music. Boombayah has a very second gen sound, it’s rather dated (which definitely isn’t a bad thing. the same goes for bts’s debut song, neither are bad songs just emblematic of the era when they were made.) But as time passed and the kpop trends changed, so did the sound and “vibe” of blackpink’s music. The production level of something like shutdown or pink venom is so different from whistle. If anything i just think it’s an interesting example of how much kpop has changed since 3rd gen was going.
