So true! My laptop specs around 3 years ago when I started playing was an I7-6600u, 16GB DDR4 ram, 512GB ssd and it could run 1080p 100% res on medium settings with 40-60 FPS average. Now the laptop doesn’t even run 60fps on 720 100% res. They really f*cked up their game:(

I tried Fortnite on my dad's old Dell Inspiron 3000 back from 2012 and lets just say for a decade old laptop it had a pretty good performance, it's specs are 4 gigs of ram , a 240 gig SSD and a 1 TB HDD , a core i5 and I could run it smoothly at 55 fps max on 720p medum settings and that performance for a 10 year old laptop is absolutely biblical.

The oddest thing with my Windows 7 (64-bit) computer. I was able to play fortnite up until the most recent season release. Suddenly, fortnite demanded that I update my video driver. I tried that, and began a series of unfortunate performance events such that I gave up and decided to buy a new computer. Yes, that's drastic. Still, running a self-test on my unfortunate computer revealed two error codes for hard drive, one for memory fan, and one for network. That salved my conscience, as it revealed to me that my old Windows 7 pc is on it's last leg anyway.

hey. comment from 2022 here, geforce added fortnite and now you can get the game on anything besides on console running at a solid 720p. All you gotta do is make an free account (wait for hundreds of people to hop on before you and only get one hour of gametime), or you can make a membership account (get 6 hours and rtx for the game if it didn't have rtx already, you also only have to wait 30 seconds) or you can get the highest form of premium which allows you to play for 10 hours (rtx is also on and you only have to wait for 10 seconds, although im not sure about the 10 seconds, I've only ever purchased the first version)
The laptop at the end is how I used to play. Idek why i bought the battlepass back then when I couldn’t even play properly. Now I have a ps5 but doesn’t play fortnite anymore lmao.

Just to see how far I could take it, I tried a Dell T7400 series workstation from 2009. It has dual quad core Xeon 5405 CPUs @ 2 ghz. It has 16 gigs of DDR2, along with an ATI Radeon 5450. The game actually plays very smoothly at the 3rd res all the way up to 1440x900 (the resolution of my monitor). It runs at 60 fps without any lagging or dropped frames. Overall, I am very impressed!

With the 2nd $1000 acer predator, you could be getting better specs for way cheaper. For example I have the Asus tuf fx505, with 9th gen core i5, and nividia gtx 1650, and it can run fortnite on high with solid 120 fps, or epic with 100. I only paid $750 for it brand new
I played years ago with a 7700K and a 1070, with a solid 32 gigs of ram. thing that really brings it down is the 2TB HDD. Acer Predator G3-710 so fairly old but specd up.

Do you have all of your drivers for it installed?
Look for apps running in the backgroud and disable xbox game bar from setting if you are using windows 10. Also disable notifications, location, auto update etc. There is a bunch of useless stuff on Windows 10 which you should look into the settings and turn them off. Windows 7 works fine with gaming. Have a static wallpaper and uninstall unused apps. Use ccleaner to clean up some junk as well
i'm currently testing it on my 2016 laptop which seems to run epic games slightly glitchy, but hey it's now 2022 so that's what today's generation has to do with

HOLd the heck up, That $200 laptop has the SAME specs as my laptop i used in 2017!!.
I installed fortnite onto it in like 2018 (had to use a usb because the internal storage was less than 32gb) and it wouldn't even let me get past the logging in screen!
I tried to play Fortnite on my $100 desktop (the Acer Revo mini-PC with Intel Celeron,) and the battle bus was half-way across the map when I loaded in. Then I played it on a $700 HP Omen (it was on sale at Best Buy,) and it ran Fortnite at epic graphics with little to no lag.
My acer aspire e15 gets me all the way across the map in the bus
