So quick backstory Anggun was a child star in Indonesia who grew up to be a really successful teenage female rock singer in the late 90s and at the height of her career at only 20 years old she decided she should try for an international career as she was looking for more challenges. The internet and diplomacy was not like it was today. She literally had to start over and move to the country to try for an international career. She had to knock on labels doors playing her demos and nobody knew her. She ended up working with Erick Benzi Celine Dion's producer and releasing her hit La Neige Au Sahara. Oh Celine Dion even covered her song "Tu Nages" in an album. She is known as a humanitarian not afraid to speak up about various issues. She's also loud about tolerance, she's a muslim and her father put her in a Catholic school and taught her at a young age we are all same. She's been invited twice by the pope and performed at the Vatican. Overall people know her as having a really unique voice, having a good heart, never changing her asianness even though she's French now and her Indonesian songs are timeless legends.
