Mr. Zamfir, this is the sweet music of my childhood. It always made me melt inside, made me fill with nostalgic feelings, even since I was 15. Now, today, at 53, when I listen to this music, tears come to my eyes. Tears for time passed, tears for those who have left us, tears for our fragility and mortality. Thank you for this immortal gift!

How could any human being just naturally not like the sound of a pan flute? Zamfir's music many years ago, inspired me to also buy music from the popular Ecuadorian pan flute players. They have such an unearthly sound. It's amazing.

I remember listening to this song when I was a kid - I was raised by my grandparents and this soft instrumental music was all the rage in the 1970s and my grandmother used to put her LPs on and listen to all of them. This was definitely in that mix. Thank you for such beautiful music!

In 1975, the Indian hindi cinema Sholay had this as the background theme for one of the main characters. The cinema story was a mixture of Sergio Leone's Dollar trilogy. Hence this track.

This song was composed by the German musician JAMES LAST in 1977. The melody has absolutely nothing to do with Romania. This is German music. Only the first flute player Gheorghe Zamfir comes from Romania.
This is the first song I learned to play on a panflute. When you play it near a lake on a day when its not windy the sounds echo sometimes for miles. One time I played it and not hundred but thousands of birds came to the area where I played it this song is truly a work of art that draws the forces of nature. It was the first time in my life I saw a double double dawn with planet x while playing it under a bridge in Florida .Many locals could not believe what we saw. The pan flute opens up your mind to hidden forces and powers and helps to guide those that seek enlightenment.

I stumbled on this organ song playing on some short-wave radio once while studying late night in my 10 or 11th grade in Karachi. Lost the signal in the middle of song, and when tried to tune the radio ..... man, .... I lost the unknown radio station. I lamented what a beautiful tune but I probably will NEVER hear again. Then, many years later, during my college in US, there it was playing during a movie. For no reason, my eyes got teary as the tune struck a chord in me as if I unexpectedly met again an old friend. Just beautiful and mesmerising tune from Zamfir.
The tune was composed,arranged and produced by James Last in 1977. Zamfir was only the flute player.

This marvelous melody was composed by the German music mastermind JAMES LAST in 1977. Gheorghe Zamfir who performed in that time in Germany was by chance discovered by James Last for this piece. This footage was recorded in 1977 in Germany. The music recording was composed arranged and produced by James Last. Gheorghe Zamfir was in the first release called soloist panpipe and Zamfir managed to get the right to release this recording beside Last. The first half minute is reminiscent of three famous baroque compositions of JS Bach and A. Marcello. (BWV 565, BWV 846, BWV 974)
