How this guy brought up "rank to gm" to irl stuff is some mental gymnastics. While yes I can get his points in some ideas, mainly that if you don't try and improve yourself it's not okay. But not EVERYONE should push themselves to improve on stuff they don't want to do (assuming it's not dire to help you and your health). I have college, job, dungeon and dragons, and (since mentioned) a relationship. While yes usually I can get most of that done with and have time to play there are times where I'll have to drop gaming for a while if needed. So that means I'll need to skip on some events, new content, and hoaning my skills on something (Mind you this isn't me including other games I enjoy playing. Just specifically OW.) So for him to not to take into account of other people possibly having a life outside of gaming or to just play casually is just confusing? Which again how the hell did this guy bring up irl stuff from a tweet about ducking bronze to gm!? (Uhhhhhh idk what else to talk about but fuck Alpha male bullshit. It's dumb and gaming has no place to talk about it because bro just let people have fun.)
Ppl gotta realize awkward and people like him have insane growth mindsets and extreme ownership of problems. That bravado is why any of us know his name. Its what makes the best players the best. This inclination against it is why the 99% is the 99%. Most people dont have the drive to wake up, workout, go to work, etc and also be the best at things. Most people who are really good at things alienate others, come off egotistical etc. Ego is directly linked to performance. This is why individualist cultures out perform ones like japan and teamwork based ones in the olympics or other international leagues. Those alpha male types do resonate with some dont forget. We onoy talk about the smelly incels not the guys who make something of themselves
