The last battle is not important at all in the story. In the book it, not even a page.
The important is the characters, and the monologue of toranaga.
@jejelerider3278 didn't read the book yet. Of course the character development will lead the story. But this is a show, so they are definitely gonna include some action as well.

Hiroyuki Sanada is epic as Lord Toranaga - his steely eyes speaks volumes whilst saying nothing- and Anna Sawai is great as Lady Mariko-
Best version ever! I read the book first then watched the first miniseries 1980s
This version is much more accurate even the dialogue
Edo was the capital then it moved to Kyoto and then back to modern day Tokyo
I'm a sucker for historical armor and I have to say that I was ecstatic to see Ishido wearing a recreation of the armor of his real life counterpart, Ishida Mitsunari.

Battles are always fought at first light. It's ideal to attack from the eastern front so that the defenders on the west are blinded by the sunlight. We still conduct raids like this today when possible. It's why homes were traditionally designed to face a setting sun or north/south.
Uh oh , I don't see Yabushige!
This video looks like Sekigahara, but behind Toranaga are Buntaro and Oumi. As expected, Yabushige also died as a traitor at Osaka Castle. He killed the samurai wearing the Aoi emblem and lured the shinobi as instructed by Ishido. So, in any case, I can't go back to Toranaga's army. It's an unfortunate life lesson. Duplicity and a lifestyle of “just for now, just for money, just for me”.
This is what 95% of Japanese are saying to the Japanese Prime Minister, the government, and Japanese politicians right now.
"Right now, it's just the money, it's just me, and the Japanese people think that the ATMs are their property."
I'm looking forward to episode 10, but the second half was pretty condensed. 20 episodes are required, ``From the death of Taiko to the establishment of the Tokugawa shogunate.''
As a Japanese person, it's a shame that the original book only goes so far.

The battle isnt in the novel or in the 80s series. Highly doubt we will see it.
Honestly there’s nothing Toranaga has done or shown to deserve this level of loyalty from his vasals. And every time another of his allies dies for his sake, it makes me look at him a little more sus.

Before there was a John Blackthorne, Hatamoto, in feudal Japan there was the Samurai Yasuke. Yasuke, born in Mozambique, was a former slave who gained employment as a bodyguard to an Italian jesuit missionary. They traveled to Japan in 1579 where Yasuke lietrally beame a celebraty with his social charm and stature. Eventually Yasuke gained employment as a sword bearer for the Daimyo.
I believe Yasuke story will make an awesome movie.

The way they did GoT’s ending traumatized me! I’m still mad as hell. But Shogun (and most of the people) are based on real people and real events, so they don’t have as much freedom to really change it a lot in a way that wouldn’t reflect the people. That’s where GoT fucked up. They trashed story arcs so the ending wasn’t satisfying or a natural progression. I don’t think they’d do that with Shogun bc authenticity is such a priority to them. Here’s to hoping bc this show is so damned good!
