I was in the same exact boat and did our transfer right after Christmas last year was so scared of the unknown, and now my new 5 day old baby boy is sleeping in the bassinet next to me. Our Christmas tree was fake and 50cm tall this year - and I put it up on the 24th in the afternoon 😂 Christmas snuck up on us this year and we didn’t enjoy it because of in laws and noise disturbing our tiny (5 week old) baby. Trying to not think about it too much and just look forward to the next one when baby will be 1 year old
It is the season of wonder for you and Jack. Embrace the new traditions, the new considerations and the new you! Next year will equally be a different season. The norm sets in when Miss Annie can walk and talk. Decisions will be made, discussed, done then undone and redone. Again, allow, be present and enjoy. Parenthood is the most underrated occupation in the world. It all falls into place but always expect the unexpected ‘cause that’s life! You and Jack will have the best time teaching Annie and learning from her. Hope this Christmas of firsts was glorious! Big hugs.

I also grew up in a real Christmas tree, household and had my daughter back in March of this year and even though that was in the spring, I still could not imagine getting all dressed up, strapping my baby in and getting out of car to walk around a garden center outside in the middle of winter she was extremely colicky and also a Velcro baby so I could only imagine that would’ve not gone well at all so I probably would’ve done the same and we still ended up getting a fake one and I think it’s gonna continue to be that way because Christmas trees are just too expensive for me and I’m not gonna be paying that kind of money for something I’m only gonna have for a month the only way I’ll get a real one again in this day in age is if it’s in a pot and I can plant it but I live in a HOA and they probably went things like that so I don’t blame you it’s hard around the holidays, especially with a newborn
