This was their best performance to reward the audience who had waited for a long time in the heavy rain.

These young ladies are sooo professional. They danced even though the stage was waterlogged!🥰😍🥰

Great reaction. 'Karate' was the lead single for their second album (so maybe a bit more radio friendly than some of their other songs). It is about fighting adversity, when life knocks you down and everything seems too hard so you're hurt and crying, its about standing up and fighting on, helping each other through the hard times. They used karate to illustrate this because as a Japanese martial art it reflects their culture - as with a lot of their songs it is also about always moving forwards.
They did watch a lot of martial arts movies to get ideas for the choreo as they wanted it to look as authentic as possible (but they are not martial artists - those who are will notice, but this is dance not a tournament). 🤘🦊
BABYMETAL have an interesting history with Download UK. In 2014 the organiser was very dismissive of them and effectively banned them when he said "There is a time and a place for a band like BABYMETAL. Download is not it, they will never play here."
In 2015 they were scheduled to play at an awards show in London with DragonForce not long after the Download festival. DragonForce were playing at Download and they smuggled BABYMETAL in - the organiser tweeted something like "I've just seen BABYMETAL wandering around back stage, what is going on?"
When DragonForce played their set they invited BABYMETAL on stage and gave up some of their own time to play 'Gimme Chocolate' with them. Word had got out and the crowd that gathered went way beyond the boundaries of the stage they were playing on.
So here we were in 2016 ... BABYMETAL playing their own set on the main stage. Not without some drama. It rained so hard in 2016 that it was renamed DRownload. BABYMETAL's set was delayed for 40 minutes because of the rain while the equipment had plastic coverings put over it and water was swept off the stage ... there is a photo of their producer out there with a broom trying to make it safe for them to do their choreo.
The crowd stayed on despite the deluge, the girls went on, telling each other to take care not to slip on the wet stage - and they went down a storm (pun intended).
They were on the main stage again in 2018 and would have been back again in 2020 if the world hadn't shut down.

    Good reaction, thanks!
Despite being on their poppier side (even structurally) that main riff comes from nowhere and hits you like a bus.
It rained so hard that the festival was renamed to "Drownload". And yep, BOH definitely needs credits for dancing. 🤣
The new single comes out on November 18th at 0:00 am JST. That's more like next Thursday 17th for us in the west.

There's a good reason this was the featured single from the second album. : )
They made a lot of friends among Metal bands by playing a bunch of festivals, and this song converted quite a few.
As is usually the case, the riffs are heavier live.
Like a lot of BABYMETAL songs, this one has a positive message about facing life's challenges.
The music video for this song is really well done as well.

Hey thanks for coming back with more BM songs, and nice thing you resist watching your friend reaction to this, now you know why the wait is worth.
We got a great news about BM new single with official lyrics "Monochrome" coming out this 18/11 worldwide, so stay tuned for more.
Certainly this song gain a lot of metalheads hearts into the BM world, that djenty and heavy riffs intro is so good, no wonder why many people was caught into BM vortex with this song.
"Karate" is one of their stronger weapons along with "Road Of Resistance". Is an uplifting song about keep fighting besides the obstacles, and if you remember the MV and take a closer look at the end you'll see in the eyes of their rivals that they're fighting against no other than themselves.
Some fans find anime vibes on this BM song, the only other song I could find with anime vibes, until "Divine Attack - Shingeki" came out, besides this one is "Syncopation".
The kata form and movements on this song, it's one of the few things along with the "Ossu" shout that comes from karate martial art, anything else like "soya, seya" shout those are related to Shinto traditional ceremony when people carrying shrines at festivals. They really put some effort doing this song and even watching the Karate Kid movie to learn something, i like to said that our girls are doing a hidden forbidden kata that was made to use against special enemies.👀
And there's no doubt this was a hard and risky performance on the stage with those conditions but our girls like it and feel this as a natural element or effect to add more epicness to the show. Also that SuMetal improvisation is something she does mainly during this song (you can find it in many others live performance around this year, including live at Tokyo Dome), and that crowd control certainly can put you in awe, the leadership is there, that's why we call her our queen. ❤️
KobaMetal said they have _"theatrical performance"_ with all stage production, pyro, lights, cryo and everything to backing up the show and make them more spectacular, and in the other hand they have the _"strong performance"_ like this with nothing but their own talent on stage and the raw sound, just them and the crowd, and they certainly practice a lot when starting in 2013 with "May Revolution" among others, you got a good evidence of that when you saw the full set live at MetRock 2015.
As you can see SuMetal and the girls can make everyone sing no matter if you're metalhead or not, that's the power of several years of crowd control and of course the power of the Fox God. -NotACult- 🦊🤘
And of course shout-out to the Kami Band and BOH almost stealing the show, I said this many times but he reminds of Flea from RHCP, who went on tour with them btw you can find a fancam of BM and RHCP performing together a Judas Priest cover on a special day for SuMetal.
In this case they are: Mikio Fujioka (R.I.P), Takayoshi Ohmura and his "pink-chan" guitar, BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums.
This was live at Download Festival 2016 and it was raining like there's no tomorrow (that's why some people re-name as "Drownload"). I let someone else explain the funny story of Download, even the producer and creator KobaMetal had to mope the stage to prevent the girls getting some accidents, is risky when the stage is wet.
Put your kitsune up and see you next time 🦊🤘🔥

@@NormandyGaming Oh i see, meanwhile I'll share this what i found with you.
After almost a month of released their new single "Divine Attack - Shingeki" marking the long time waited return, they just announced another new single called "Monochrome" coming out this 18/11 with official lyrics video and is a song that expresses a fleeting hope during Ragnarok, which means "doomsday" in Norse mythology, that the starry skies will be wrapped in rainbow colors, all of this under the question which color were the monochrome fireworks lighting up in the night sky, from a children's eyes.
They're making us sure that this song belongs to another world out of 10 in total of their metalverse. This time the theme runs around the Norse mythology and the Ragnarök event, we can also see an artwork which apparently show "Yggdrasil", the Norse tree of life, there's a lot more interesting things related to this tree but in general is representing the life and rebirth of the humankind after a moment of death and chaos, BM fans know that this a recurrent theme on BM lore and is always exciting.
I also noticed since a very long time ago they were using the _"Myth"_ title before every different title itself, so that could mean another hint over the concept of this album using different mythologies and their stories represented in each one of their songs, i heard another snippets sets and I can totally see that. In this case they're going with the Norse mythology which is very popular nowadays thanks to videogames like God Of War Ragnarok recently released, or even Attack On Titan (Shingeki No Kyojin) anime series, without giving so much details, which is also a theme many BM fans are relating to the world of "Divine Attack - Shingeki", their first single released.
The sound on this song reminds a little bit of good old hard rock mixed with a touch of heavy metal and some complex drums always in contrast with beautiful SuMetal's vocals, i can also see the hands of Yuyoyuppe on this, he's the songwriter/composer/arranger behind songs like Megitsune, Rondo Of Nightmare and Kagerou.
Can't wait for this song to be released, so hopefully you'll share your reaction with us as soon as you can.
Kitsune up and see you next time 🦊🤘

You said "One of the beautiful things about concerts is when you have thousands of people just making music together". Su-Metal said the following in an interview back in 2016 ahead of their American tour: "Yes, I really think our single best aspect is our live performances. And we try to create our live performances together with our audience. I'm really excited to make some new songs with everyone in our American audience."
