Keep going north on Route 1, and you reach the Garden spot of England, Sunderland. Seriously though, a lot of National Routes were built upon old railway lines, and the North-east is criss-crossed with cycle paths. Lovely countryside and small towns for food, drink and supplies.
Hi, I will have to visit the north east sometime. I was actually hoping to cycle to Edinburgh on this trip and I think the route went through quite a few railway lines. I done my planning to get there and all but due to a health issue i had to stop in york. Which was a nice city to end in. Cheers
well done Rob once again you got to the meat of the matter but this time with the bovine crowd was also reminiscing about what history I learnt in school about the War of the Roses was no piece of cake being a royal back then :-)
Haha :) A 15 mile trip to Selby is still a good distance man, and if it was a return trip 30 miles is a very good distance. Everyone has to start somewhere. The more miles you can get done on the saddle, the lot easier it becomes to cycle far distances. Good luck with your adventure to London! Sounds great
Hi mate, I didn't go the most direct route, I went for a scenic route along cycle routes, visiting lots of nice places along the way (which I would recommend). It took me 5 days but I spoke to someone who done it tn two days via a direct route so depends how many miles you do a day and if you want to follow official cycle routes. It was roughly 300 miles. Frst day was to st neots: cycle.travel/map/journey/69112 Second day was to Spalding: cycle.travel/map/journey/69123 Third day was to north of Lincoln: cycle.travel/map/journey/69125 Fourth day was to Hull: cycle.travel/map/journey/69126 Fifth day was to York: cycle.travel/map/journey/69127
Hi...I enjoyed watching this👍..just wondering, how many days did this journey take, and what are the accommodation options for someone who doesn't have much money...ie..are there cheap camp sites or wild-camping possibilities along this route?🤔
Hi Suneel, thanks mate. This can certainty be done on a budget. There is a great youth hostel in Hull, and also one in York which I stayed in that have low price dormitories. Where you can pay £20 for a night/ However due to covid you may not want to stay in one. Alternatively there are a few campsites scattered around, If you use this website www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/calcdist.asp?address=&tents=on&adults=99&clubs=99&bar=&shop=&restaurant=&beach=&transport=&md=30&l=52.6161817&lg=-0.2828979&sort= You can find lots of cheap campsites if you double click on the map on a location, and make sure to check tents on the Pitch Types options. it will show you where they are. They are generally around £10 - 15 if you have a one man tent . The first night I stayed at campsite in st neots, second night I stayed (but didn't pay as there was no one in reception at the time) in one in the outskirts of Spalding. The third campsite was a few miles outside of Lincoln, however this campsite was rather expensive at £20 for a night. I didn't notice that many wild camping opportunities on this ride, there would be a few places, but I had a plan for a campsite or a hostel each night. Hope that helps and hope you enjoy the bicycle ride if you do it! Rob
@@RobHuntersAdventures Hi..thanks for this detailed reply👍I will probably wait until all this Covid situation abates before going on some bike tours...in the meantime, I'm doing armchair travelling via UA-cam😀👍
@@suneelgaur5246 haha have fun man :) I have a few other bicycle tour videos on my channel if interested where I film scenery along my trips with added music. all the best.

Jesus do other cyclists, walkers and runner's not know what side of the road or track to be on. Man fair play for not mowing them down.
