I saw them in Austin in the early 1970s. The Vanilla Fudge duo were so loud I could not hear Jeff's guitar. The Fudges were also dressed in a foppish contemporary fashion, wearing very high platform shoes that made me wonder if they had ever tripped and fallen. Not the shoes for making a good impression in central Texas. I left about halftime. My impression was that Jeff Beck hated playing with these two and that this was some sort of attempt to create a supergroup.

The opening act was Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer. They were stellar.

In 1975 I got tickets to Jeff Beck/Blow by Blow tour/and was so excited I almost needed new underwear! The show took place at Avery Fisher Hall (Lincoln Center) w/ The Mahavishnu Orchestra as the opener. My friends and I were all very aware of the Guitar fireworks that would/could take place and that only heightened our expectations.
Long story short - was so fkn BORING that we were talking to each other during the show about which train to take home and where to get a bite afterwards. The sound @ AFH was not the best and after enduring (too)long solo's from each member of TMO, finally Jeff Beck!! After an opening tune from BbB which included just about every trick in the fingerboard fret-book, SNOOZE. It was as if Jeff said screw the audience, let's give them a tour de force opening number and get the hell out of NYC. I only wish it was Beck, Bogert and Appice that night instead of"rochestra"?
