I feel Matt was truly in his element here. His fun-loving nature shines through every line. Pentatonix seldom gives the entire lead to a single member, but this was a great choice here. The other four provided a dynamic, jazzy background, with a couple of Mitch-isms, of course. Great reaction! Merry Christmas from Canada.
WOW is correct. This just sucks you right in. And it's even better live. Matt OWNS the stage during this one. There is a good live recording from Evergreen Experience last year to get a better look at their stage performace of it.
Glad you enjoyed this song! I think Matt was really enjoying getting to use his theater background for this song, and his voice and face were so expressive, he just made the song flow. Another PTX cover that gives me very similar vibes to this one is My Favorite Things, from The Sound of Music. It's a Kirstie lead throughout the entire song, just like Matt was in this one, and they all are using their theater backgrounds in that one. It's not a Christmas song, but it might be a good one to put on your list for after the Christmas rush is over.
Never assume anything with PTX... Hehehe just strap on. ..you are going for a ride... Awesome reaction!... thank you! ;) I see you are working on new thumbnails! Good job man!
I really like this version of the song. I like the fact that they changed it up every verse and the whole vibe was I thought jazz or reggae or something. And the little things that happened during the video like Mitch and Kirstie's gasps. It's like they acted out the song. I don't even think they were in the same room because you never saw them together. This must have been done separately, probably during the pandemic. And to get the timing right on the background vocals must have been pretty difficult. They're just amazing. Thanks for a great reaction and cheers from Utah!
Not during the pandemic, but it was one on one. I think they filmed it during a tour. THere is a behind the scenes video for it with Matt being a bit stressed over actually having to do real words for once, hah
Thank you for your appreciation of Pentatonix. I agree, this is one of their most creative, the different rhythm and percussion changes throughout the song, as well as the playful background vocals. Matt's delivery is outstanding! Great reaction. Enjoyed this one a lot.
I love Matt here his acting skills are there, but love also Mitch and Kristin they voices make a great contrast with low tone of Matt, and they also act very well, and Kevin like always killing with the percussions, and Scott doing a hole song as bass, very dynamic song an fun
PTX will get you, every time. Every *SINGLE* time. And you'll never get used to it. It's one reason they are so great. They bring everything they touch to life...or to *NEW* life. Loving your reactions. Love following your journey of discovery. Would love to see you react to: 1) Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (Grammy #2 - song with no words performed by a group with no instruments) 2) Come All Ye Faithful (the way it should be sung - will knock you on your a$$) 3) 12 Days of Christmas (*THE* most hated song ever written, made fun again!) And finally... 4) God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen (just because) Thank You! Keep 'em coming!
What a phenomenal reaction! Your mouth was hanging open the entire song. Matt ROCKED this one! Personally, this one is IT! Your first statement before beginning the song was something about feeling that there will be some lower end sound to this. I laughed so hard when you said that and said out loud, "just wait for it!" LOLOL. Awesome! Thanks for the smiles today.
Thank you for the great reaction to this amazing Pentatonix video. Happy that you enjoyed it. Matt was the perfect lead. All of the others were awesome too. Everyone, please remember to watch Pentatonix on Good Morning America Wednesday, 12-21-22. Also, BYUtv will re-air Pentatonix "Christmas Under The Stars" special on Thursday, 12-22-22. It will at air noon and again at 6PM central time. Check the air times for your time zones. If you have Dish or cable, you probably have it. You may have to search in the upper numbers. (Mine was 9403) BYUtv will air it 2 more times on Christmas Day.
Seeing it done live is insane!! The creativity of this group is just endless. Loved the reaction, just jaw dropped to the floor the whole time with the occasional "wow" thrown in. 😂
Great reaction! I really enjoy what they do with this one too! What's really impressive is Scott holding a low bass line because Matt is singing the solo. If you listen back, he does a great job!
Another great, honest, REAL reaction from you, Shaun. Subscribing so I don't miss any of your PTX reactions. The lead singer in this one is Matt Sallee. He mainly sings bass but can sing baritone and tenor, as well. So, now you'll know Matt Sallee as well as Mitch Grassi's name. If you're up for learning one more, just remember "Kirsty is always thirsty". We'll work on the other 2 in your next reaction. Thanx again.
If we're talking about the movie, there is another song that they do and it's wonderful to hear them. Where Are You Christmas, again, they do it the PTX way. BTW, during the filming of this video, Kirsty had broken her foot, so that is one of the reason, that they don't show from the waist down. During live performances, the uses a scooter-like to get on stage. ua-cam.com/video/emXbfEzXn6A/v-deo.html
Please continue reacting to PTX! They rock! I have too many favorites. If you want something a little different try their version of Waving through a Window or Attention (they go all out in different ways in these two songs).
I've watched a few of your videos now and I think that you would really enjoy a cover artist by the name of Dan Vasc. He does heavy metal covers of a lot of songs but he is not exclusive to heavy metal. He does a rendition of Pavarotti's nessun dorma that is absolutely stunning. He also does a rendition of Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar that literally blows Ted Neely right out the water. Check him out he has got a really large really fantastic body of work on UA-cam and I'm sure other places. His cover of the music from The Witcher is absolutely wonderful. I can't say enough about this guy you really should check them out.
BY ALL MEANS NOT SAYIN LEAVE THEM BUT CHECK OUT HOME FREE IF YOU LIKEIN THAT BASS SOND BUT PENTATONIX WAS MY EYE OPENER AS WELL TO START TO LISTEN AND SEE THE MUSIC BEING MADE
Hi. :) I have for you interesting recommendation, it's japanese punk/rock/disco band 女王蜂 (Ziyoou-Vachi, official english name is Queen Bee) and their song "Starry Night" official music video. Their vocalist Avu-chan is transgender/non-binary person and can sing with male and female voice, she also has incredible vocal range. This song is not really punk, rock or disco, they using also other music genres, but in this song you can hear Avu-chan's both voices, male and female, so I think it's good recommendation. It would be great if you react to this, I really want to hear your opinion and analyze. :)

May I suggest you watch the LIVE version... A LOT of fun, worth the few minutes.

So agree❤
So many more, try watching their upgrade of "Favorite things" another very creative version!
another great example of how Scott takes over the bass singing when Matt/Avi sings lead.

I love this song! Matt does such a great job.
Love this one!! I love Matt but when Mitch goes “yuk” I crack up every time.
This is the ONLY “Mr. Grinch” song I will EVER let my kids hear. ❤
Exceptional!!

🔥
You should listen and see their live performance even just recently, its freaking mind blowing!
Evergreen tour version is SO brilliant!
@@alan-freeman - No doubt about it and they're up for their 4th Grammy Award, figures crossed...
Never assume anything with PTX...
Hehehe just strap on. ..you are going for a ride... Awesome reaction!... thank you! ;)

Matt!!❤️❤️❤️and the backup is 🔥🔥🔥 As others have said, the live version is amazing, Matt is definitely in his element 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

They have put out a recording of this at one of their concerts and it is wild. They have the grinch in it interacting with Matt. Really a wow!
I love how Matt was featured on this song. I love his voice and he also has a great range. Give the boy some more leads.
scott really held down the bass! he is so talented! he even beatboxes sometimes if kev is singing
Perfection is what it is!
Great reaction. Matt killed it! Have to love the grinch! 🎄 Merry Christmas

My favorite of their Christmas songs! Thanks for your reaction. Lack of correct words to describe says it all! ❤️🎄
Thank you, you too!
I've never liked this song before PTX did it. But like everything they touch, they've upgraded yet another song to pure gold!!
For sure! 🔥
Kids will enjoy but grown up will really get it...brilliant!! Fun!
The live is cool. Mr grinch tries to stop ptx from singing. Hilarious!
Haha I bet that would be a fun show
I agree completely about this song, it really was like a mini movie! And of course Matt was EPIC!
What is great about this version is that they use innovation to make the song have the usual PTX upgrade.
Words are hard huh?!😂 I think you'll really like Making Christmas from Nightmare before Christmas, & God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman! Loved this!
I think it’s time for God Rest Your Merry Gentlemen! 🤯 LET’S GO!!!!!

You should react to the Voiceplay version :D
They did this live last year on the Evergreen Tour and it's hilarious!
They, definitely, pulled out all the stops!!
💯🔥
Great reaction 😊
Please continue reacting to PTX! They rock! I have too many favorites. If you want something a little different try their version of Waving through a Window or Attention (they go all out in different ways in these two songs).
This is definitely an upgrade, even though I like the original.
There's a bts for this that's definitely worth a watch!!
