David was the foundation of Korn. His drum grooves were the absolute best in nu-metal.
dahippness agreed
John Otto has that dirt though
Woodstock 99
All of them have such an individual unique sound that when combined together it's like some power rangers megazord shit. That Fieldy sound, Jon's voice, David's rhythm, Munky and Head's unique sound!
Yup
Thats Bullshit. They all brought that fresh hard sound and no one member was the "foundation"
David was amazing drummer.. his style is sic and pure
he still does
@rj zander just shut the fuck up. It's clear you've never played drums in your life tough guy. To even compare piano with playing drums shows your fucking stupidity.
He laid down incredible tracks on their 1st two albums. After that he went from innovative to standard 4x4 rock drumming.
His drumming on Chi is insane. I looked up a video to see Ray play it and he didn't even attempt playing it properly..
@@michaelsell6328 honestly I'm a drummer trying to start a band and that guy clearly don't know shit about drums my wrist hurts sometimes
David seemed so humble and healthy back then.
perryco34 he’s not anymore? I guess he did say some nasty things about fieldy after the breakup or something like that
Philip Lang Not sure if he still does but he clearly used/uses steroids chronically.
💜
Screened Titan 27 I don’t think he did. The other band members said he was a huge fitness buff.
Splaygum he’s to swollen now. His neck has fused with his gut
David was amazing
David was literally the foundation of Korn. His drum style was so unique
Meh
@@94XBlackXEyedXPeas explain
?
Everyone say Ray is better but holy lord, did you heard Korns first albums ? Davids style and dynamic was outstanding. its an honor to hear Korn. Vote for Korn
No way Ray is better than David. David gave Korn their sound.
What are you saying? Who are you talking to? Ain't NO ONE is saying ray is better... hahaha!
@@andrewfields8556you dont look at drum vids that much do you? On every Ray vids you have dumbdumb saying Ray is better...Wich is complete 💩💩 when you know how David was so good at.
I always dug the way David's fills sounded kinda rushed. It's not impossible to replicate a beat, but it's damn near impossible to replicate another drummer's feel and sense of time. That's why bands like Korn, Slipknot, Slayer, Lamb of God, etc. sound different. I thought all of those drummers had job security because of how unique they sounded. I guess the bands had other ideas!
If he doesn’t come back fine but Korn should invite him to their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Whenever that happens
for sure, his style on those early albums were essential to their success
David Silveria was the highest talent in KORN, he made of all of those guys to work really hard, he had some innovative ideas, he was the push for making new things in korn.
Head was the highest talent in Korn....they all said so
@@crazyjoedavola5430I think they all are. Fieldy plays the bass like no one else, David’s drumming was groovy yet intricate, Munky is the most eclectic of the bunch and makes some of the creative sounds to come out of the guitar, Head is melodically gifted, and Jonathan is a freak of nature in terms of vocal range and delivery
The munky's wondering about david's injures, epic...
Facts😂
3:09 look at the crowd xD holy shit
MusicMoviesGames Mellatica
It looks unreal!
Sharp Style Fortune SERIOUSLY!!
Before cellphones.
We love ya david rock on brother!
Shared this with my daughter because its an amazing video about adversity and how even if it wasnt gonna be him out there that he made sure he pick the right person to take his place and did for the music and the fans!!! No word for the respect i have for this man!!!
I love you David!!! You made Korn!!!!
Life is peachy is my most favourite album because the drum
Mine too Son.
David and Mikey are some of my all time favorite drummers
BRING DAVID BACK TO KORN!!!!!!!!!!! HE GAVE HIS LIFE AND SOUL TO THAT BAND!!!!
Love "old" David...
All respect for Ray
But David is always in our hearts
Agree! Ray is awesome but Korn sounds like a tribute band without David
Nadia Passarelli Carvalho David is in our hearts but like our hearts very basic beats
phuQguys yea. Ball Tongue. Basic Af. Dude their whole life is peachy album is just stupid easy on drums. Same with follow the leader and self titled. David is the worst and easy as hell
@@GKillChill xDD
@@GKillChill Yeah, it's certainly easy to imitate in the drums but that doesn't mean the sound is bad... that statement is just stupid. He fit Korn like a glove especially with his catchy groves and loud ass snares. Now Ray certainly is one of the best drummers in the game, but imo too generic for korn.
I had a dream David Silveria was wearing silver clothes like aluminum foil and everything around was bright white like heaven. We walked up these huge stairs that led up to a stadium in the sky and David asks me, "are you ready?" And I said hell yeah. I grabbed my grey nickel 7 string rg7620 Ibanez and got on stage with KoRn and played Got The Life with them. That dream is coming true. Do the right thing, guys and bring David back. Deuce.✌️
Ray is great, don't get me wrong. He's even better in strict technical terms.
But David and his distinct style, man. That was something. That was the Korn I fell in love with and it's not Ray's fault he's not doing the thing for me.
The only problem with ray is I think he plays to fast and not as slow as david but ray is also great
Yeah, Ray is very technically sound. He's a beast. He adds his own flavor, as he should, to the band. But those old school beats with David are what really solidified their sound for me.
Al principio a mi me costaba acostumbrarme al sonido de Ray en Korn III, pero su estilo es muy bueno como el de David.
He plays everything Dave played and wrote new tunes with Korn. You're mixing up the actual tunes they write now with Ray with the tunes they wrote in the past with Dave. They're a different band now. Korn with Dave now wouldn't be that different than what it is with Ray
Ray is technical
David is soul and groove, and raw energy, something korn doesn't have anymore
Live music on that scale is the most underrated miracle ever , all those people look like all his children
He sure was man enough to come out and say hey I messed up my arm instead sending someone up there props to little David
David silveria was a fucking king in the drums he makes and unvelibable sounds he has the touch, the timing, and incredible mind to create that music, no body like him, i really will like to see korn back again with that brutallity in the drums David please come back 😬😬😬 the new generations need to ear you
Learn how to write and phrase sentences properly, Far out......
Watching these old clips of David makes me wish he was still in the band
The god of groove. The god of nu metal rhythm.
I saw this show with the guy from Faith No More in PA it was awesome.
Nettienoo143 I saw him to in Boston he had to play with korn David was still hurtin
Same here, in Lisbon, Portugal. The year was 2000.
Same here bro sick and twisted tour
The one and only. David Silveria
So what made them undeniable (and makes them special even to this day) is that Korn is like Voltron. They are came together to make something gigantic.
Fieldy plays the bass percussively like no one else, David’s drumming was groovy and powerful yet intricate and creative, Munky ( most underrated member imho) is the most eclectic of the bunch and makes some of the most creative and unique sounds to come out of the guitar (check out Venera, much of that is his guitar), Head is melodically gifted and a true metal savant, and Jonathan is a freak of nature in terms of vocal range, delivery, and bravery.
to do nothing but watch them and witness the amazing moments the band has shared
1 of my favorite drummers 🤘🏻
Mike Bordin was a GREAT replacement choice for David. FNM was a major influence on Korn. One of the best lefty drummers out there!
Doug Prishpreed absolutely!!!!!
Mr Bungle is the main influence of all nu metal bands
He is not lefty, he plays open-handed
Wow. I'm 32 and KoRn as been one of my favorite rock bands since middle school. And I never knew this incident happened. This helps to show how decent of a human being David was. So cool to come across this video so many years later.
David is very underrated. Just because he doesn't play fast, metal nerds seems to discredit him. He came with his own unique style of sound and made it big.
Agree completely.. I’d take his drumming over your typical thrash metal drummer.. David’s work on the first 3 Korn albums is superb and highly underrated.. Only true drummers understand the complexity of his past writing
@@thelegionary07He was great on Untouchables as well. Issues they made him tone it down too much
The crowds hands and arm's we're making the wave it was prettyspectacular to say the least love korn till I die my number1#
Everybody are talk about David and ray but I was looking for this comment.that hand wave was fucking awesome..
It's a new era in Korn history, Dave is in the past, Ray is the present and future.
I agree with you my friend. Ray is much better than David as drummers...
Na Ray is going out. He wont last
@@callmepistol I don't think so...
Phenomenal drummer with a sound all of his own. Hopefully some day can make amends and tour with the guys again.
I want david back . from France fan and long life korn
Mike Bordin was the best person to fill in for David because he's Mike Bordin from Faith No More, also i love his drum sound, especially his toms and tight snare.
This is real and good music that make my childhood a really sweet place
Thx Jonathan Davis
Thx Korn
Dang. I never knew this. Salute to David. 😎👍
David crumbled from the pressure
Nah you ever have a sports injury?
I had a torn ligament after lifting 55lb barbell for 30 years.
One day I couldn't even life like 20lbs without extreme pain.
It took me about 3-4 months to recover.
Now I'm 54 and still curl 55lb barbells from a seated position.
KORN had so many dates set up and tickets sold how could they wait 3-4 months for him to heal?
Theres nothing in the world quite like the experience of a KoRn concert!!!
Dave is one of my reasons to pick up sticks and love that he was there by the set recovering. Grooves everything phenomenal. Saying that. Saw KoRn with Ray with the same attitude you all have which you should. He played the songs and rimshotted a stick 15-20 feet in the air, caught said stick and kept going during his drum solo. When I saw them with Alice and chains and I was like ok. Heart will always love Dave but Ray rocks some shit. But agreed those first few albums? Dave without question.
WE WANT DAVID BACK (from Italy)
*want
@@monsterdrinkingtax2072 thank you haha
Simply you're the best
I was at that show March 10, 2000 (Fargodome) when David stopped playing. Band went backstage for 10-15 min. before coming back onstage to announce it. Show ended early. Saw the free make up show with Mike Bordin a few months later.
He nailed the fill in! Saw them in Jersey.
One of the best 👌🏼
david is the soul of the band, Ray is a great drummer, but can't match dave's groove
@Romy Taylor yeah I agree, what I meant is the old school korn/David on the drums is more fresh and groovy and musically suits the band better, it's just my opinion, or maybe nostalgia :)
@Romy Taylor That is literally how every human is, not just David
David Silveria maestro, el mejor baterista de la historia lejos!!!
3:01 the hands of the crowd form a wave since the sound get later in the back and ppl move their hands when they hear the beat
thats a fucking great observation dude!
You're a G-damn genius! I think we found Elon Musk's secret UA-cam account.
Amen David 🇺🇲✌️
i miss him so much
I was at the show Mike filled in for David in 2000 at the old mile high stadium in Denver. It was a great show
BRING BACK DAVID !!!
Love Puffy Absolute Legend 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
Dude, I was at that concert in Fargo the night his wrist gave out. They had four mannequins dressed up in jumpsuits and mounted on the ceiling waaay up there so it was hard to see them. When the song stopped and the lights went out I thought that they were going to lower the mannequins into the crowd or do something along those lines. When the lights came on they were on stage and that’s when they made the announcement. I moved to Denver a few months later and unfortunately never got to go back to see them play again even though I held onto the ticket stub. It was a nights of firsts for me:)
I was there too!! Had totally forgotten about that until I saw the thumbnail. Held onto my stub for their return. Was that really over 20 years ago?
I was at the show when this happened. It was crazy as no one knew what was going on at first. They did end up coming back and making it up to all the fans. Can’t remember how it worked but the makeup show was free if you had you ticket stub or something from the first show.
Get well David 😥💯❤
David used to use Vater Nightsticks which are massive tree trunks. They were quite long too which contributed a lot of weight. Those type of sticks, especially as you get older can really do some damage to your forearms and wrists especially. So that could’ve been a major factor to his wrist problem and the beginning of the end for him in Korn.
While Ray is probably a better overall drummer, David really set the tone of drumming of that era. I would love to see him back in the band.
Same with Guns N Roses.. Matt Sorum was technically a better drummer than Steven Adler but Steven and his style fit the band better. Played on possibly the best rock album ever made
we need him back!
We need david...
The dude wearing David's skin now ate the old David.
David come back to Korn, please!!!
Wrist in peace brother!
brilliant on the kit, wish you well David bro!
i love korn & slipknot best bands for me!
Same here
it is so good to live somebody someone
Dude filled his shoes great
GIVE HIM BACK
I was in Katowice on that tour. Best gig ever. Unfuckingreal. Issues. And that cage. Best time of Korn..
Fist crowds was awesome !!
#BACKDAVIDSILVERIAAA🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🥁🥁🥁🥁
Ray is amazing there is no doubt. but we really miss David I hope he gets a chance to come back
You serious? He seems to be on some sort of drug these days, got plastic surgery or Botox in his face and got fat. He’s not right for Korn anymore
@@kittyg7342 It's probably just steroids.
Piano Girl oxy
He’s a douche I hear
Korn will never have David back and David would never want to come back to Korn. This is also part of the band’s progression since having Ray, because he delivers a much more modern sound whilst David is not as technically proficient and sticks to his 90s groove. In my opinion, Ray is MILES better for Korn.
so sick
I like that little dance
the gods of heavy hard hitting metal sounds KORN
Now Mike needs a water boy to hydrate between and sometimes in the middle of songs. THANKS KORN!!
Just fuckin around.
Nothing better than HARD HITTING DRUMS!!
Word!
those were some crowds they used to play to.......holy hell....
yea this is when i still like em
we all miss David :'(
Hell yea! David was Korn
No we don't he's a massive douchebag and Ray is a better drummer.
Christina K. Ray is just a fill in generic drummer a showman.... period
@@v_eye_let17 Agree, Ray is not only an absolute beast drummer, he's also a very intelligent and down to earth musician in general. He could teach David how to play like a student.
@@HarryCaneNo1 LoL. Then why he cant play like David first 3 record?? Why he cant be creative like David? Why Korn sucks after David left. So stfu you gay fanboy
I miss you 😢
I was at that concert in Fargo, ND!
I remember that show
I was at that show. Was up on stage and can see me in the shadows at 44 seconds. Was awesome to be up there but bummed it was cut short. Totally understandable though.
El mejor tiene que volver
Forever Korn, Always Jonathan Davis ❤️🤘🏼♥️🤘🏼❤️🤘🏼♥️🤘🏼
Yeah
Why do i find this so funny 🤣
All these comments about Ray and David are so funny. I met Ray after a Korn show a few years back, I told him he was a great drummer and he looked genuinely shocked. I don't think he hears that from most people. But David in my opinion is still a better fit for them.
I met him in Chicago and said "the band's never sounded better" and I meant it.
I think maybe he misconstrues peoples comments about David like he's not skilled. Nobody is arguing that Ray isn't skilled. Nobody said that ever. But the way David plays and his stylistic chops just fit with Korn. That groovy shit and those tinkery hits every now and then just....fit. You can hear it in Davids bass drum parts, the ghost notes, all that shit just vibes way fuckin different. With the way Korns been doing new albums since Ray has been in the band, while it is Korn in the sense that they still at least have head and munky and fieldy and john providing their unique twists, you gotta understand in the 90s EVERYTHING about this band was unique and twisted up including the drummer. It wasn't no basic shit. It felt like a hip hop groove, it felt jazzy, and funky. It didn't feel like another metallica band or another hair metal band and that basic ass predictable drumming. It just all glued together nicely.
Now if Ray could learn how to break his conventions and just FORGET METAL, just forget traditional metal entirely and find some groove and even hip hop I'd co-sign him. But Korns replacement drummer is no where near as effective on the overall sound of the band as slipknots replacement drummer. When slipknot replaced their drummer it was like they put joey in a time machine and swapped his face around, like theres NO difference in how they play which is crucial when you hear a slipknot song it has to be right. If it isn't hitting the right way fans will notice, and if it continues to hit the wrong way fans will walk away.
Puffy!
This is the KoRn, I fell for ❤. It reminds me of Slipknot, when late Paul Gray and Joey Jordison, were j that band. David, not being in the group anymore, made me sad. But, the shows go on.
David rules
James got me wheezing
Bring him back.
Yeeees
wow. i didnt know that!
All fans wants David back, I don't care if group have now two drummers, Ray is cool too. That will be full Korn stack. I wish they are solve their problems
TakerAMD I love Korn, and I’ve also seen Korn with David. But there’s a reason why David’s not in the band. From the moment I met Ray, I knew he was a better fit. So although I understand your opinion, you do not speak for all of us!
MusicMoviesGames It’s not about a grudge with JD!!! It goes way beyond that!
David is horrible to fans and his band mates. Anyone who knows the situation wouldn't.
I'm a huge Korn fan and I wish he never comes back.
I'll pass
Great Drummer... *NEMEZIZ*
