Is the Exo FKing Unstoppable? watch to find out

- The Exo from FKirons,
This machine is one of the latest editions from FK irons.
What is it and does it differ from the flux? Well actually there are only a few differences between the Flux and the EXO as they are essentially the same machine but with different stroke lengths, different grip and an RCA module.
The drive mechanism in the EXO is the same as the FLUX which means it’s going to be very smooth, it has more of a linear motion with the drive bar. I see no side to side wobble in the needles as there is no oscillation of the drive bar.
The motor is the same in the EXO and the FLUX, this is a 9-watt brushless motor. After using the FLUX for around a year I find it to be a workhorse, very smooth and reliable.
So the main differences between the EXO and FLUX, we will start with the stroke length.
The EXO comes in three different strokes.
2.5, 3.2, 4.0
You can distinguish between the different stroke lengths by looking at the stickers on the inside of the machine. I would have liked to see the marking on the outside of the machine but that’s purely me being very picky.
The 2.5
In my opinion is the perfect addition for any artist that specialises in black and grey, you can achieve smooth results effortlessly with minimal skin trauma. I’ve personally found using the 2.5 has increased my productivity and made my tattooing a lot more efficient when doing black and grey. Clients are also noticing a difference in how it feels, they find it far more comfortable in comparison to the 4.0.
The 3.2
This could be a great machine for colour realists and black and grey. To be honest if you don’t use many large group liners then it could lend its self well to most styles of tattooing.
It doesn’t spit when lining like you can get with a longer stroke machine.
The 4.0
This machine is essentially the FLUX with a fatter grip. I personally love the FLUX and I find Lends its self well to everything I have thrown at it. You can line, shade, colour pack etc. You can pretty much do everything with this machine which I have been doing up until the EXO came out.
So if you are already an owner of the FLUX then this machine is not for you, but if you are someone who uses a lot of large grouping liners or are a jack of all trades then this is a great choice.
As a personally believe the 2.5 and the 4.0 make a great team. These two different stroke lengths will cover all bases when it comes to tattooing.
The grip,
As we can see in photos and videos there is a significant difference to the grip, it’s fatter (40mm) and has more groves and notches which actually make it more comfortable in the hand. The larger grip also adds a little bit more weight to the machine making it 189grams.
I really like the fatter grip, but it’s not for everyone so it would be nice to see the option of buying a thinner grip to the exo with similar ergonomics or being able to but the FLUX grip with the exo.
The RCA module,
This is something that I’ve wanted to see for quite some time as it’s a perfect “back up” in case of battery failure.
It has the same connections as the power bolt when connecting it to the machine which makes this cross compatible. You can use it on the FLUX and EXO.
The beauty of having the RCA module, is it, opens up the consumer base for FK irons and allows people put off by the idea of wireless tattoo machines to enjoy the new range from FK Irons. It also puts them in direct competition with machines like the bishop wand and the stigma force.
There are two colour options black ops and stealth.
I’ve noticed with the stealth version it’s a little tighter when taking off the battery but I found that loosened up over time. I didn’t have the issue with the black ops colour version so it makes me think that it’s the coating of the machine that causes it to be slightly tighter on the stealth.
Price you are looking at $799.95 for the exo and RCA module.
The EXO from FK Irons is a very good and well built machine, it’s very smooth with low vibration. When you look at the engineering of the drive mechanism it’s different to the competitors, with the competition opting to use side mounted direct drive motors, which leaves room for needle wobble.
My personal favourite is the 2.5 stroke as it pairs extremely well with the FLUX.

I have Cheyenne Spirit and really 2.5mm is very good for black and grey.I,m going to have Exo sometime in the distant future, great video, cao.
Nice vid. Like always!
Thanks again!
I have the 3.2 it lines beautiful and does grey wash incredible
What voltage do you run for lining and shading on the 3.2 please
Great video just want to say your both Awesome 🤩 I’m originally from Hereford UK and I’m now apprenticing in South Bay California and you guys remind me of home I frigging love it! Beautiful Uk beautiful fella... just a little bit of Cardiff lingo like.
Thankyou!
I just ordered my number 2 3.2 exo black ops I love my 4.0
Nice video brother.
No bullshit or beatin around the Bush in this review, good job!
Love mine !!!
Thank you for the review! I really want one! I have been reading about it none stop! I have an inkjeta now but I hear this is the only way to go is FKirons EXO!
Also I would say that if you haven’t already looked up the abilities on the app. You should! The app dark lab allows you to change the give through the battery making it softer or harder depending on the type of work you’re trying to accomplish. Just a little note for you!
we had early access to the app, there's a few videos we have made discussing the feature etc.
Nice video! Looking forward to the give away!
Good luck!
Good video and shirt eh! But yeah, i'm thinking of getting an exo myself soon, it's my new favourite machine for sure. But if you're giving one away, I'll definitely stay tuned and maybe I'll be the lucky winner so I can save myself $1000 haha
Hey brother. Love your videos! So I have had the Flux since it came out. Love everything about it. I’m looking to buy a back up, slighter different machine and I have my eyes on this bad boy. I do mainly black and grey and colour realism. Should I grab the 3.2 swing? I’m thinking that would be the best of both worlds for what I do, as the flux has a 4mm. I’d love your thoughts on this my friend? I’m totally sold on FK Irons now just per the flux, and the E give option is a game changer. Thanx again bro! Take care and hope you can help, reaffirm my decision…
Awesome 😎
Thanks 🤗
Just set the needle back for 4mm but the 2.5 moves quicker technically by physics standard so it is more efficient and probly runs less battery over time.
have u tried lining with putting a little give on I have a 3.2mm exo
Wich one for all rounder, Im doing with micro with 1RL, tribals with lot of black packing and letters?
Hello j’ai déjà la exo 3.2, la exo 2.5 convient elle avec tout les magnums meme les 27 ?
Merci de ta réponse 🙏
I think all this new technology is leaving me behind. I have two of the 4mm spectra flux machines. I love them although a do find black n grey a lil harder then full colour with them. I would really be interested in a full comparison on the workings of the 4mm 3.5mm and 2.5mm machines. Great show guys!
Sorry 3.2mm
Nice video bro...I had a flux... for black and grey and script with 3rl do you think better I get exo 3.2 or 2.5?
What voltage do you run for lining on the 4.0 Flux
For the kind of fineline dot stuff would you go for 2.5 instead of the 3.4 as well? I got the fluid 4.0 and it’s already crazy what it does but I’m looking at something to work with single needles and 3RL.
That’s down to personal preference I think. I know people that do fine line work with a 4mm stroke machine. Equally I know artists that can do everything thrown at them with a 2.5mm
I suppose it comes down to what you are comfortable working with.
@@ThatTattooShow never tried a 2.5 stroke. Been working mostly with 3.2 and 4.0. But I’m definitely interested in this one.
So I’ve been using the 3.2 exo this week. I’d go with that for fine line and dot work stuff.
@@ThatTattooShow awesome to know cause that’s the one I just ordered. I’m in love with the Flux , I just think it’s so slow when it lines compared to my Dan Kubin... I come from coils originally and it seems I can’t line at the same speed as with a coil or a DK.
What cover do you use to wrap the EXO? I have to use a small bag on each end right now because I can’t find a large enough cord cover.
I was using barrier film that sticks to the grip then using xl size clip cord covers.
@@ThatTattooShow Thanks. Good idea. I find it's a balance to cover well and also be able to change the needle depth. It's fine if using one needle but I find the depth changes when swapping needle sizes.
hope you make a video where you compare all 3 stroke lengths
What would you like to know?
@@ThatTattooShow which model would suit what type of style and how much they vary in where they feel to use both with and without e-give. and what type of e-give you would use and why. these are just ideas
Have you read the description? I cover some of the things in that.
@@ThatTattooShow I'd still like to hear a more indepth breakdown on the different strokes, biggest hurdle for me.
Nice
Thanks
The con is that still no disposable grips for none of them
In the daily use which machine do you find more comfortable to work with is it the Flux or exo? I know that that the exo is built to have a better ergonomic and a different weight balance than the flux. But practically it could be different. Otherwise the 4mm stroke should performs equally on both machines. Everyone would have different opinions what suits better in the hand but I haven’t haven’t hold one of them before. Also what Maschine is practically better and easier to wrap/cover in your opinion?
Good question.
I have found that the standard 33mm grip is more comfortable for line work. Although that’s more of a personally preference.
Wrapping wise they are both the same tbh. I don’t change how I wrap them because one of the grips is larger etc.
Any chance to give a review on the 2.5 for black and gray as there is no video on the stoke. Thank you!!!
The 2.5 is good for black and grey.
Also check the exo video, which machine is best for you.
in your opinion compared to a Cheyenne unlimited 3.5
how's the 2.5 exo?
even softer?
got to run it faster?
im more into black and gray realism and micro realism
love the videos thanks a lot for doing this
It’s softer yes, depending on how you tattoo and what effect you want to achieve etc then voltage will vary. I run mine between 6v and 8v depending on what I’m doing. If I’m doing detailed stuff I run it slower.
Hope that answers your question. appreciate the comment :)
@@ThatTattooShow hi, i got an ulimited 4.0 and im looking to get a pen machine for bng. Think i should go with the 2.5 exo ?
Presuming the grips from the exo are cross compatible also ?
Absolutely love the flux, will probably end up picking up a exo in the 2.5 at some point
Thanks for the review !
Yeah it’s all cross compatible between the flux and exo.
Hey Chris, i wonder did you have the chance to compare bishop wand packer and fk exo/flux 4.0, since i am really stuck between the two
In my opinion the bishop wand doesn’t compare to the flux. I had a go of a bishop wand but I wasn’t a fan of it. If I can get hold of another one I’ll do a video.
@@ThatTattooShow was it the packer wand or shader ?
It was the Packer I think. Was a while ago now. I’ll deffo get hold of another one just to double check.
@@ThatTattooShow thanks a lot man, would be really great to see a comparision between exo and wand packer 👍🏻
It might be a while cause I’ll have to find a friend who hasn’t sold theirs.
So I have always used FKs, picked up a 4.0 exo with the two batteries. My question is the give on the Dark labs App for the flux .... does the EXO have this feature?
It does have the feature but it’s controlled on the battery. We have a few videos about the app. It shows how to control the give etc.
@@ThatTattooShow So all I can find on the E-Give are videos on UA-cam showing E-give using the Hoover power supply. The app only allows me to Bluetooth to EXO and update firmware, maybe I am missing something on the App to pull up E-give feature just for the Powerbolt?
Hi, I just received the EXO 3.2 from Killer Ink, but there’s no sticker on the inside like you’ve mentioned
Perhaps some of the earlier batch didn’t have them. I have a new flux which has the sticker on them. Try reaching out to FK see if they will send you one.
That tattoo show
I bought only the wired version and wondering does it still perform good without e give?
Hi chris here. I never use E-give and they perform great.
Color realism is so dope with the 3.2 i really like it for bng and even though its a short stroke i can line with it up to a 9rl but i really thi k the 2.5 us too short for my liking
3.2 is nice but I preferred the 2.5 for black and grey.
@@ThatTattooShow i dont own the 2 .5 i have the 3. 2 but i remember the spirit i had a snag or two cause of the stroke might just be me and i was just coming from coils ever since ive been weary of using such a short stroke but i want to try it all i do is bng....i never got the sol luna but i definetely want to try it one of my coworkers uses a 2.5 mm stroke and extremely low volts and he does really good bng realism
In all honesty i cant afford another machine id like to have the other ones but geez they are quite pricey
What voltage do you run for lining and shading on the 3.2? Please
Love your videos and always well explained!
Just need to ask one question as I want to buy either the Exo or Flux. Which stoke would you recommend for line working? As I mostly work line-work and whipped shading.
Thanks a lot and keep it up! 😊
Thanks.
I’d say either the 3.2 exo 4.0 exo or flux.
@@ThatTattooShow awesome :D thanks a lot for your reply!! 😊
Does the grip from EXO fits to the Flux body?
Yes
Is this a good upgrade from the xion?
I’ve used both and I think so yes. Unless you have the xion for the adjustable give feature. The exo is direct drive.
Bought it and sold it the same dat haha the 3.2 was too soft for me :) liked the grip and weight but its just a flux with a different grip
I like the 2.5 for black and grey and the 3.2 I have been using it this last few weeks and it’s great for some things although it’s all down to personal preference. but yeah totally it’s the exact same drive system. Just different grip, stroke length and has an rca module.
@@ThatTattooShow i was really hoping it to be more of a difference, theyre good machines! I wish they had a 3,7 stroke that would be perfect! Im thinking about trying the stigma force
Tbh I think 3.7 is to close to 4.0 for there to be much of a difference. Having the shorter stroke works much better for being able to layer colour without causing to much irritation to the skin and for slowing you to create a lot smoother black and grey more efficiently. Don’t get me wrong I can get smooth b&g with a flux 4.0 but it’s far more efficient using that shorter stroke and give a nicer effect in my opinion.
@@ThatTattooShow yeah true it would be very close that stroke but it still would hit a little different like the xion 3,7 ! I’m getting smooth shades with the 4.0 no problem but sometimes with black n grey its a little to hard. It’s just to bad the strokes aren’t interchangeable in the new machines haha that would be so nice
What do I need to do to win the fk machine that would be great
That will be announced once we figure out what we want to do.
How about the 3,2 stroke is good ?? Before I'm buying i just want to know from the experience like you. Couse is expensive machine and i don't want to be disappointed couse i chose the wrong choice 😁😁
The 3.2 is nice yes, I just personally prefer the 2.5 and 4.0.
@@ThatTattooShow ok then but i think 4.0 is not good for soft shading right?? Thank u so much the answers is very helpful couse i live in Bali, indonesia which is if i buying the exo the shipping and tax cost me alot of money and I don't wanna making a wrong decision.
And i hope i can get a give away the exo from u but is impossible couse I'm far away🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Ngurahsenda that's my Instagram
Thank u for the answer🙏🏻
The 4.0 you can get soft shading if using the right technique and needles etc. But the shorter stroke will be better and more efficient.
I think the 3.2 could be a good solution as you would be having the best of both. I’ve tattooed myself with the xion in 3.2 stroke and it was nice and smooth for shade. It also packed the black in.
My Exo doesn’t have that sticker with the stroke length 🤔
I believe some of the earlier models or the first batches may not have had them.
I would love to just to get to tattoo with it
Got my black ops with batteries it’s bad asss can’t fking put it down 😀😀😀
Sir, can You compire it to Xion ? I use xion 3.2 . And idk its a lot of money.
@@adamwilhelmgabor6622 i have the xion as well with gorilla grip still in my draw since the exo arrived its worth the money 💰 and so much freedom with the battery packs love it 😀
Flux 4.0 and Exo 4.0 same thing?
Same drive mechanism yes. Just different grip and rca module
Better then Valhalla
Haven’t used the Valhalla so can’t comment.
Powerbolts are pure junk. They do not hold a charge beyond a day. If I fully charge them, the very next day the are dead. Tried updating firmware, no difference.
I hate the exo, sold it as soon as someone would buy it lol
