Got sucked up into a company who presented themselves as a step up from self-publishing- NOT! 3K later 😮 I learned my lesson. NEVER again!! It’s sad they prey on newbies. 😢
Thank you so much for this information. I also got an offer from a vanity publisher which I understood later. But since I have been in the process of finding the money to pay, I changed my mind and I am planning to query traditional publishers, though most of them only deal with agents which is okay with me if may need one after trying a few where agents aren't necessary.

Yep.
I saw an ad on CNN for a publisher, sent for their information packet, and discovered that they're a vanity publisher.
Sigh.
You'd think a channel like CNN would check to make sure the companies that advertise with them wouldn't be trying to rip off their viewers.
