As an attorney I have to wonder with regard to Nate Davis, at what point is a player in breach of contract if not playing in good faith? Because there should be clauses in the contract which deal with good faith participation. If someone isn't practicing or producing during games, that's not good faith participation.
@user-if8xm5zf1b yeah cuz I've done some sports agency (although mostly hockey) and there generally are clauses dealing with good faith participation (in one way or another). I'm sure it would be ugly and snarly to try to argue breach based on violation of good faith, but it's something you've gotta wonder about in an ongoing situation like this.
@@--ArcAngel-- Yea, I doubt there is much they can do unless he refuses to play or steps to the side and lets the defensive tackle hit the QB. I don't know how it all works. Maybe the Bears would have to prove intent.
@@bg147 yeah it would depend on how the clause is written (like if bad faith could be inferred by the Team due to Player's non-participation or some such) but yeah it would almost certainly be ugly. The guarantee probably covers most normal things like illness, injury, family emergencies, etc. So im sure Nate would say he has been clinically depressed cuz his dog has azz cancer, or he has developed a crippling phobia of success or something.
2 things can be true. Both Davis and Shelton shouldn’t be starting on this Bears o-line. Davis been a disappointment since he signed his contract and Shelton was a cheap Dollar Store signing at center. Bears need to do better at both positions.
@@flamejanes1865 no. He must be fired because is in the building since 2021 and the OL is worst every year. Lucas Patrick and Whitehair are the top Guards in the league at the moment. How do you explain that?
A while back, I believe you were discussing Ryan Poles popularity (because the general consensus has been that we are quite happy with Ryan Poles generally) and you posed the question something like 'what could Ryan Poles do to lose our favor?' (I'm paraphrasing). But besides the obvious answer (continue losing games) I thought the worst thing would be, after all we've been through, to not fix the Offensive line in such an egregious manner that their poor performance ended up resulting in an injury to our first overall pick QB in his rookie season. Ryan Poles -- FIX THAT LINE. PERIOD.
the good news is that in some ways the oline doesn’t have to improve for the bears to be successful. there is no reason for the bears to try and pass 45 times per game. just run the damn ball 35 times and use play action and the line play should improve drastically. but for the love of God, don’t pass 45 times in a game where your defense allowed 19 points. waldron is off his rocker. if cj and those wrs cant put up 30 on us at home then i doubt many teams can. the bears need to play conservative until bates is healthy and amegadjie is ready to replace braxton. we can then add more lineman next year.
justin fields isn’t good but no one blamed fields for our loses. they just said he isn’t a good qb, and that it would be stupid to build a team around him and pass on caleb. which is all true.
I am tired if all the gd injuries. This is another Bears broken record for us. The last 3 years injuries have obliterated us. I know it's only week 3 but gd here we go again! Love you Darius! 100% true
I’m not going to complain about Nate because they knew this about him and still paid him. Nate is the scapegoat and the Center is the biggest bridge to the QB. Just the same ole Bears front office making the same mistakes every year.
I don't blame Davis, I blame Poles for not doing his due diligence before signing him. If he did his due diligence and signed him anyway, I still blame him.
As a bears fan, i hate this same ol story, why can’t we do what the eagles go spend you early round picks on lineman on both sides. The eagles have had great production on both sides of the line.
Are we not playing Herbert because he sucks so bad at pass protection and we can't afford to sacrifice a single bit of pass protection help since the O-line sucks so bad?
It’s not just Nate Davis, I watched out top 10 pick RT play absolutely horrendous, I watched out C miss almost every block for 3 plays straight, this is a tough year so far but no one can deny our entire oline should have been addressed forget the WRs 🤦🏾♂️ rookie move by Poles
When PFF grades are telling you something different that your eyes can see, it's a false narrative. Coleman Shelton played like crap and almost got Caleb injured.
If Williams gets knocked out for the season, there will be panic. On the other hand, if it is more of a nagging injury, it would give him another year of development, and another year to build the line.
Bench Davis and do what should have already been admitted; get Pryor in the game as starter then Jenkins back to Right Guard where he shined. C'mon fess up to it; Pryor shined in preseason and training camp .
If they don't find a better o line to protect Williams then will see Tyson Begent by week 4 and if they still don't then it definitely a wrap....cause both qbs will be injured...
one would think that the bears oline would be average. braxton was suppose to be a c+ tev A- shelton: c davis: b wright: A but they’ve all played like f’s. is it poor coaching or scheme?
The line played like cheeks. Wild cheeks. Caleb was mediocre but I'm confident he would've been better with average pass pro. Like I think at least one deep ball would've been accurate with time. This is crazy bad. It's coaches, line, no run game, and QB accuracy, timing.
This is on Ryan Poles, his arrogance and ego will be his and the franchise’s downfall. Glad Fields went to a stable franchise. These insufferable meatballs and media deserve it though.
Poles isnt a good gm a good gm woyld have seen the problem from the get go you dont draft a QB when you dont have a o line to protect him no running game no clue
bro come on. who the fuck passes on caleb cuz you don’t have an oline. it’s like passing up on a lambo cuz you don’t have a garage. you fix the oline next year. you can’t draft caleb next year or the year after or maybe ever.

Shelton blocked Davis in a video surfaced on the internet and he miss a stunt block. What do Pro Football Focus gotta say about that. Y'all calling out Nate Davis, Shelton is noodle legs and he needs to retire. He is senile. It's a shame the Bears don't see how horrible he has blocked for 2 weeks in a row. No other offensive lineman has looked worst then him in the last 2 weeks.
Nate Davis is not the worst lineman on bears at all. He is not at LG like he played most of his career. Teven Jenkins need to go back to RG. Shelton is the worst lineman for the bears in 2024. He gotta go. Bears need to do better evaluations and stop listening to publications and the non experts because there's no such thing in football. Sports is more mental than physical and talent.
