I moved internationally with my collection. Never again! Took me literally months to organise and pack everything securely. That was a lot of time and packaging expense. I could not imagine transporting sets on planes and trains. Good job Chris. It’s never easy.
I understand the pain. Had to pack up my entire collection of 13-14 years since my family is moving to a new house. Luckily my amazing aunt helped me with it and we got it done efficiently too.
I’d be the most concerned with TSA randomly searching my luggage and someone getting sticky fingers or just being careless and breaking stuff for no reason
I had bought a bunch of Lego HP sets when I moved to Ukraine this year. When I left in January to evacuate I grabbed all the ones I had built, broke it down, and threw them all in a bag. Now I get to go through the bag and set them all up again. Thankfully it was only like 6-9 sets.
@@Justin_Neagle come on we all know mum and dad would be helping as long as he gets the grades they require. I’m sure they don’t pay for his Lego just the collage stuff
I just started my lego journey. I used to build alot of legos and bionicles when i was younger i stopped for awhile amd after calming down in life it brings me peace building them
first of all, holy heck I'm shocked at how fast you accumulated that much lego! Sounds like your journey was painful (maybe a bit comical in hindsight), but at least you got one heck of a story out of it! And everything turned out alright in the end.
I saw the video of where you were showing all the sets you have on display and in drawers and was thinking about what it would be like for you to have to move. First thing I recommend: Dont leave all of your sets together on shelves...put them in their own storage container. Nothing worst than having to dismantle 1000 lego sets just to get them stowed away for transport. (you should always be prepared to haul your entire collection) Another thing, you can hire a transport company to ship your entire collection. Seeing as how you spend thousands on LEGO, it shouldnt be a problem for you. All you have to do is create a shipping crate...hell, you can even do the POD service.
Going home?! That isn't your home with Lego mounted on the wall? Why buy that many sets if you aren't at home... I'm so confused... Don't need clothes in your suitcases?
His main collection is at his home out west. He's in college on the east coast and is living there right now. So, he's still buying Lego sets... eventually he wants all the lego to be at his home. So it's got to get there eventually one way or another, and he's bringing a bunch home with him on spring break. Did you not listen to the beginning of the video?
Priorities man, priorities. Getting home on that plane would be my number one priority. Not going to the lego store an hour before my flight. I've seen enough "horror bag" episodes between passengers, TSA, and flight attendants to never ever bring anything that doesn't zip or snap shut on a flight
Props to you for managing to transport all that Lego. My recommendations for next time: bring Saran wrap and ziplocs with you in case something like this happens again. And it probably would have been a better idea to wrap the Mario parts bags in Saran wrap, but being in a hurry I can understand thinking it would work. My best recommendation for transport is another suitcase though. But those do take up room so I get it may not be possible.
In your experience, have they been good? Heard horror stories on the internet about FedEx and deliveries. Though it’s mostly stealing packages and such.
I’ve never had any issues. I use them often for any high dollar eBay sale. If it does get stolen it’s insured so you will be reimbursed. Nothing is perfect. I’ve had more issues with usps more than any delivery company.
What a trip, from the order getting cancelled to exploding Lego sets with bricks raining down on the plane! It’s amazing how so much of the sets remained intact though.
"Somehow I knew bringing that paper bag was a bad idea.... maaaaybe some people told me... and I didn't listen" Hahaha loved this 🤣. Glad it all kinda worked out in the end and you have a great time back with your family!
I also had to move a Lego collection and the easiest way to move is to completely break the set down and zip bag it . I know it means rebuilding everything again but it saves space and sets getting damaged ! The last thing you want is broken parts that have been stressed with tight packing .loose bricks in bags are so much easier 😀
Why would you feel bad about the flight attendants....they completely disregarded your bag when stuffing another bag in there. Obviously with enough force to do damage. I would have been Pissed
man, HOW could you spend your whole life with creating and building LEGO and thinking, all those will fit in those bags :D :D :D im happy all went good.
Oh god, I am gonna have a stroke. Not suitcases, should have spent the money to mail them. You do know that the airport cargo employees just toss your bags like sandbags. Hope you did not break anything force your suitcases closed. I got to go lay down now, giving me heartburn.
I had LEGO do the exact same thing to me. Didn't have a limit posted on mini-figures at checkout (or I didn't see it), let me BUY an amount over the limit, then cancelled the entire order. It was a new release so I had to wait quite a while before things came back in stock. LEGO, what a terrible system!!! Don't let us make the purchase if the quantity is exceeded.
Actually although a lot of hassle, maximising the use of his luggage allowance / weight which he paid for as part of his ticket was a smart move. I’d advise him to buy a better bag for the carryon next time. Just because someone has money does not mean they should waste it.
thats a full time job xD 24/7 But also: wow you have real experience with it. Crazy how fast you did the last part within 1 hour. 2nd Wow: How were you able to fit all of that into those 3 Suitcases Oo thats impressive!
Oh my word...... what a story... I knew immediately all that was NOT going to fit in those cases. Then the Lego bag. I was like "no, this is not happening" You went through hell, but the Lego gods we're helping you out a bit bud. My brain hurts from this video for you. After all that, I would've been looking for a drink. A very BIG drink. Then pass out for a day. Lol
I wonder what the security and plane crew was thinking about him. I feel so bad for the Titanic that it crashed into another iceberg again it must have been so frustrating for him and the Titanic. I guess half of the flight was carrying people, and Lego, how did you even go through he sounded so stressed out at the end of the video, too sorry for the delay other plane there is someone packing Legos I hope the Legos had a great vacation better than the Titanic. We have to wait for a few minutes . You must have been so embarrassing for you 😆
Oh Chris, my heart goes out to you. I am glad you arrived safe with a lot of the suitcase Lego intact. I enjoyed the video format.

Greater mystery is why would one pack all that lego in a paper bag and expect it to survive a plane trip?

what a debacle! I'm glad you were able to get the yellow bag on the plane. I was nervous just seeing the size and weight of it.
I’d be the most concerned with TSA randomly searching my luggage and someone getting sticky fingers or just being careless and breaking stuff for no reason
looking at this, I'd just put everything in cardboard boxes, onto a pallet and ship UPS ground 🤣

Your most entertaining video yet. I literally LOL-ed at parts of your video. Lego packing.. something that all us Lego geeks can relate to.
As a Warhammer fan, I can definitely relate to the woes of transporting a bunch of plastic safely
