You can't comment on the video titled "Why Do Turrets Fall Out?".. So, I would like to add to the theory as to why the why the clips are there. The 3/32 claimed tolerance Of course is to keep the whole assembly in place, sure, but the massive amount of weight, being allowed to lift up, and slam back down, causing denting on the races and rollers, or flat spots or what has been called "hooks" in the rail way industry as per the rail to wheel relationship, just before the major spalling or fatigue of those damaged or dented locations.. The work harding of the rollers and races never stop that process, from being in normal use, to the point, that the surfaces get so hard, then fracture, or if the visuals show no signs of fractures, but are right at that moment, of blistering, a hard impact on the work hardened area explodes the metal contact point areas.. I can imagine, something like these turrets, being that heavy, changing out a bearing and race system was not an easy task, let alone, the idea that the failure rate from initial drop damage or impact damage of a work hardened system, to total system failure could be less then 50 rotations, as each past/rotation getting worse by sound, and vibrations/feel. before something completely lets go, over pressure of the hydraulic system or gear train down to the pinion gear on the internal geared rack. I theorize that the "clips" are there to simply keep the turret from bouncing causing damage to the roller system and its bearing races.. It might be worth looking into seeing if a service manual for preventative maintenance for those types of system was ever made? kinda like what is common on the automobiles of today for the "planned obsolescence" maintenance plans. Replace the ball joints and tie-rod ends at 50k miles, 60k replee the inner ribber bushings on the lower control arms, etc... as the US military had a dang manual for everything, including how to properly, blow your nose. no joke.. If there was never a manual for these systems, I would say one of two ideas then, 1st, there wan't enough time, for the war efforts to write one? 2nd, they never intended the ships to make it back. 3rd, it didn't matter, they would deal with it if the turrets had issues if or when they did? 4th, the system was assumed to out last the life of the ship, not knowing factually if they actually would, "SEND IT".... lol.. Just a theory.. Fun video.

He probably disabled comments because of dumbasses that post one single wall of text instead of using paragraphs to make things easier to read. Your comment is a perfect example of that kind of word vomit or comment diarrhea.

Out standing reply. 1st, these channel does not allow hit the return button to create paragraphs, for proper writing. but what I find more alarming, is the amount of time to write something for me take people longer to read, that is exceptionally sad to constantly witness.. A video that basically put out a request for any input and or theory as to the subject matter, and you are upset that somebody took the time to give a valid thought as to said subject.. Well done. If you are viewing this on a cell phone then yes, it looks like a massive wall of text, but if you are seeing this on a full screen, it is a paragraph as per size, but the last comment as per the manual reasoning, was literally one line on a full screen, not worth bisecting if you channel would let me. You Sir, should be wonderfully proud of yourself...So, if my comment is unworthy, then please delete it. it will not hurt my feelings. Won't even be back to view your content again. and simply move on. What I will say, from your reply, is you do not give a damn, other then, people, send up money so we can act like we care about saving this important history, and do not ask what we are doing with the grant money for said projects... is that what is going on wit hyour channel, hustling money for your own personal gains, while claiming it is for the research for the ship? Typical!!!!!

@@drubradley8821 Really? This channel doesn't allow hit the return button to create paragraphs?
Oh look, I hit enter and created another paragraph. Surely that's just a fluke and it couldn't possibly happen again.
Nope, did it again. What do you know....Guess it's just you. You're special.
