@KorgOfficial Volca Sample MKI + @teenageengineering PO33KO! is one of the best bang-for-your-buck-combos-I-can think of.

these guys' respective strengths play perfectly with each other's weaknesses: the PO33 solves the volca's issue with quick sampling, chromatic playing, and slicing; the Volca solves the PO33's issue with polyphony and difficult drum programming.
in this video, I'll show you how to connect and synchronise them, how to mix the two audio signals, as well as explaining how I personally use them.
they are probably not the most intuitive and user friendly machines ever built, but if you're looking to switch from the cold light of a computer screen to a more joyful, dawless creative experience, this is the place to start in my opinion!

what is up greedy guts? I have a Discord server! come and chat about samplers, software, and leave some suggestions on what videos you want to see next: discord.gg/DMntZNBX
Okay so I was looking for a "cheap" option to attempt making music dawless and this looks pretty potent. Thank you man
Glad I could help!
The production quality of these videos is so good man 👌 Loving that beat as well 🤩
thank you! it means a lot!
Good tips and I agree, great starter hardware setup! My tip: Get a Y stereo splitter cable to route the volcas audio through the PO and save yourself the mixer! (You only get mono audio then but i think they both only use mono samples anyway). Get a field recorder instead to have a 100% mobile setup!
great idea! the only thing is, you'd lose the ability to sync the two machines. the volca sample doesn't output sync signal out of the audio output, does it?
@@BIGUMAMI No that's what the Y splitter cable is for, left channel goes in volca sync out, right channel goes into volca headphone out, combined stereo signal goes to PO in. it's the same as POs sync to each other and route audio with just a stereo cable. PO needs to be in SY4 for it to work.
@@DeaBroggn riiiiightttt! yeah that'd work! that's pretty genius my man!
@@DeaBroggn pinning this to the top so that people will see it. great suggestion!
@@DeaBroggn wouldn't you loose the ability to use headphones though since there it no out port to plug headphones in to?
Very well done!
I love this combo, you made a great presentation
Glad you liked it!
Gotta give credit where its due. Top work brother, top work 👌👌👌
thank you!
Excellent ! Just by luck, I happened
to pick these two as my first samplers. OH GOODY !!!
Fck yeah dude
I'm currently using/learning the OG Volca Sample and Volca Beats. I run'em with the Volca Mix.
Very well thought out dude, love the tune you’ve made too haha💪
I appreciate it Drew! I always say that youtubing is my excuse for actually keep making music. that is my n°1 objective tbh! so you saying that means a lot.
Bro your a blessing fam! Bought the volca 1 years ago, then i bought the po33 few weeks ago and then i was like "what did i buy the volca for?" Man let me tell you: you give my financial mistakes a meaning.
Probably could have figured this one out my self tbh, but nobody knows if id have tried it. Now I will forsurski. Thank you so much
oh man I live for these kinda comments! let me know how it goes!
great video. How do i can connect the volca and p033 to the mixer? ty.
Very entertaining and a real good gear combination!
Superb video..
thank you very much!
🔥video
I got Volca sample Mk2, now just need a po33ko and this little mixer. What else would add to the set up to add more fun? Can You connect a microphone/recorder like zoom h1 for example?
Thx for sharing! Cya geezy
Thanks for the review there! it certainly really help me to decide which stuff i can get
And also a question maybe already covered or not in your video but i wonder if the KO can trigger real time effect since it has its own unique effect?
the KO can only trigger its own effects, that's correct! any other effects will need an external FX board or pedals
Do you need a mixer? I just want to mess arround im not going to perform or sell my music or anything like that
💯💯💯
yoooooo what's up deeprot?
Nice video!
Best combo is volca sample mk2 + po33 + ipad/iphone (easy upload to sample 2)
yeah that's also great!
Noob question:
When and why would I want to sample? For instance, when do I want to record a sample with the PO?
Great video!!
there isn't really a when or why! whatever tickles your fancy, could be a section in a song, could be a drum break, could be you singing in the mic, could be birds, the sea, whatever!
I have a few po33 videos on my channel but I strongly suggest watching other creators too, the possibilities are endless!
@@BIGUMAMI ah i see! Thanks for replying and i will definitely check out your other vids on the PO
@@itsJoel59 thank you! please do!
I'd go with a circuit rhythm.
nice video. I'm pretty sure thet you can't play chromaticaly on the po-33
you are correct. I meant to say you can play samples as "melodies". the scale is not chromatic - it's a minor scale, right?
Where did you get the case for the PO? It looks real nice
mr Pavel Powers: instagram.com/pavelxpowers/ Ukrainian living in Russia. not only the guy has family in Ukraine but has also been hit by sanctions. If you find a way to give him some money, definitely do. the case is top notch and was relatively much cheaper than others.
Great Video! Just got myself a PO33 and want to get a case like yours. Can you share a link?
it's by a dude called pavel powers. he's a ukrainian living in russian, and just because of that we should be supporting him - on top of that he makes quality stuff... problem is they blocked SWIFT meaning all traditional payment methods to russia. anyway here's is IG instagram.com/pavelxpowers/

Doesn’t the volca sampler only support 12bit audio?
yeah! part of the charm.
Or just get a sample 2 for 109$ new and how on earth would ya find a po 133 or 33 they been sold out for years
yeah, definitely a sample 2 makes things even more interesting! po33 I know, they're hard to find but I think they'll produce more and restock them soon... thomann says 14-18 weeks waiting period.
What case is on the PO?

Pajen firmware gets Volca near groovebox territory.
It is a great firmware although I think that to get its full potential you still need an external sequencer (you couldn't step record different notes with the built in sequencer if memory serves me right). thankfully the sample2 got that sorted out!
Volca..It's not a sampler....it triggers samples.
you are correct. I can't be arsed to say "sample player" al the time and it wouldn't fit in the title!
!!! Koala !! SAmpler cheaper .. better in every way possible 🙆🙆 you can get in 2 sec on the ios and android
yeah. I have Koala too - this was more about wanting to get into hardware specifically!
I don’t see the point of getting 2 samplers
it entirely depends on preference and on the type of music you make. in this case, as I explain in the video, in short, the point is that the volca is good at one-shots, drum type sounds. it can't play samples chromatically and it can't really slice sampleseasily. the po33, on the other end, is good with exactly that: playing chromatically and slicing samples automatically.
with synths, analog and digital, you're limited by the amount of oscillators/sound generators, filters, envelopes etc. with samplers, you can sample pretty much any melodic sound you want to and play it back chromatically.
of course I also have, and use, synths expansively in my production. but I love using samplers, even resampling sounds that I make in my other synths. and if you wanna start producing, and don't know much about synthesis/don't have money for hardware synths or VSTs, a couple samplers like these + sounds that you can buy for cheap/download for free is a very flexible solution that will guarantee you hours of fun imho.
@@BIGUMAMI thanks, cool video

it depends on what you need to do - is the microphone for vocal performance? or you jst need the recorder to record your jams?
@@BIGUMAMI I guess both options, do You think H1 is enough for that?
