Another one to add to my list. Trouble is my 'wine cellar' (thats a joke! it's a space where my wines are thats cool lol.) is pretty full still. I have been more on the Cask Ales of late. I had to endure a 2022 South African Merlot the other day and couldn't say how 'not to my taste' it was for fear of offending. Especially as the price that was paid for it would of bought a very nice Burgundy!
Yes I'm required to go to a dinner party (or something like that) this evening. Usually in this kind of scenario I defensively take along wine as a "present" that I want to drink and insist they open it up on arrival. However we have been for dinner at this particular household several times now, and I fear it's bordering on a bit rude that I keep doing that. So I went to a local wine shop just now and very altruistically chose something I wouldn't buy for myself, but thought they might like. I guess the silver lining to that cloud is that wine other people I know like is almost always a lot cheaper than the sort of thing I'm into!
