i have router connected to internet and nvr connected by lan and only 1 of 12 cameras show up... they are meant to be plug and play seeing they are all hkvision cameras.. i just dont get it... why is the experience so bad from a trillion dollar company. They all have ips allocated by the NVR, all ethernet lines were tested as working. I just dont know where to go from here.

But when I use same settings in my hybrid dvr (there are two ip channels available), then I get IP exception. Any idea? Do I must have dvr and ipcam in same network? Does it mean remote camera connect through internet is not possible?
Yes, if your ip camera not on same location, your ip address should have public ip address

@JeffThompson7 some case, password ip camera can be same with nvr, but the other case, can be different
