  • So you want to get started running games for free and you don't know what to run? Here are just a few amazing adventures that could be plugged into this amazing setting with very few changes. And I know Stonehell isn't free but it's so cheap for what you get I've thrown it in as a bonus.
In this video, I'll show you how to seed these adventures in Blackmarsh: Morgansfort, Caves of Chaos, Blackapple Brugh, Stonehell, The Sepulchre of Seven, and more! Whether you fancy a classic dungeon crawl, a mysterious forest, or haunted ruins, you can plug almost anything into Blackmarsh so have fun.
I'd love to see your suggestions in the comments as well.
Morgansfort, Chaves of Chaos, Blackapple Brugh, and Saga of the Giants can all be found on the basic fantasy site for free www.basicfanta... or Amazon in print.
Stonehell can be found on Lulu, its not free but it might as well be for what you get. www.lulu.com/s...
The Sepulchre of Seven is on Drivethru preview.drivet...
You can get Blackmarsh for free here preview.drivet...

Thank you and that BFRPG community for enriching our hobby! I've got every single release on my shelf and they've given me some great mileage at the table.

I love your flexible idea of free. Under $5 is pretty close to free and supporting our writers is important.

100% I think if you can get a huge amount of game play out of something for relatively little outlay that's really important. Especially in todays world.

I love the micro-setting approach, where you take adventures and kingdom sized locations to seed them through a larger map.

I'm super lazy and when you have a setting that isn't overly dense it gives you the room to tie almost anything into it.

My last fantasy campaign started with a village map and a rumor table of adventures just like this. As the party chose rumors to follow, the map expanded and cities and ruins added.

Brugh: Bruh - same meaning as borough or broch. A small town.
Sepulchre: Sep-ul-ker - a tomb cut into rock where dead are stored. :)
    Great video btw

@@fumbletable You said "Brugh" as the author intended; wbbartlett is incorrect in this case. Indeed, there's a pronunciation guide in the module.

I have run Tomb of the Serpent King several times now. Love that module.
It's a perfect intro to old school dungeon crawling. I wish there were more small dungeon modules out there of the same quality.

@@fumbletable It was the first module I ran for my current group. At the time, I was returning to the hobby after a 20 year hiatus, and used Basic Fantasy as the core rules. Sadly, the party never completed the Tomb of the Serpent King. They actually bailed on the dungeon and went back to town after suffering a couple of setbacks. I should mention that none of my players had ANY prior rpg experience. I had to bury the dungeon in an earthquake and do a soft relaunch of the campaign. :)

Yeah, with BFRPG and iits modules Chris has been loath to define a kind of 'defaults setting' for the RPG by publishing a specific one - leaving everything open as a resource framework. I love the idea of placing these and other free modules from other places, into Blackmarsh - it's an amazing and flexible base to build from and fill out - a complete campaign can be created with them.

The free adventures on Dragonsfoot are worth a look. Something like ZA1: The Temple of Chaos for levels 2 - 4 could be placed in the Dragonbone Peaks. Also their free Footprints magazines have adventures.

Oi, there are One Page Dungeon Contest Compendiums (like year 2022 one) for free on dms guild, and I believe you can easily tweak any of them to fit this both chamber and broad setting. This should be the true free endgame adventure-setting combo for GM and players to enjoy!
