Xylo is still underdog... do not underestimate Xylo! No SUV or MUV has such comfortability like Xylo has...
First duster and now lodgy, i think renault is doing a good job. Their cars were criticised for poor interiors, after sales service and ride quality and now they have improved everything. I own a duster awd 110 ps which is the best in terms of everything one could possible imagine. Be it fuel efficiency, space, ride quality, off road presence, gearbox or looks, it is an excellent SUV. I also managed a test drive of lodgy last week. I was thrilled. Like she says in the review, the drive is very enjoyable and the cabin does remain silent even at high speed and the engine wont stop you at all. I loved lodgy. Way to go renault. Autocar, good job with analysing all these MPVs.

Innova is better car overall... its a premium car with premium features,best in comfort ,best in safety only thing I noticed its price would be some lesser ... I have my innova.. love u
Innova is the premium, and it has the best engine, just think a 2.5l engine gives a mileage of 13 where as other cars give 17,18 with 1.5l engine. innova gives the best safety, and the service cost of innova is cheapest among its rivals. innova can run about 6-7lakhs without any problems. there is no competition for innova till date
I love xylo.....i owned it for 3 years.....such a comfortable car for long trip....(trichur to Chennai -700 kms)..... it's really a vfm car😍

Ertiga is top selling MPV today. People are not blind to buy Ertiga just like that. Mobilio & Lodgy I hardly see on roads and they are struglling to sell it and compete against Ertiga.
Ertiga is the top selling MPV because its Maruti so its obviously value for money, good mileage, easy maintenance and good resale value. It has practicality but it is certainly not the best.

the mobilio sells about 400 units per month on an average,renault does a 300,innova does around 5000 and ertiga around 5500 units.Basically the best of the lot is no doubt innova but it is expensive. So for me the winner has to be ertiga.Good car,great price and the engine never feels stressed on the highway till 140 kph

That's because Maruti is cheap.. Costs less but servicing of Honda is not as cheap as Maruti..i have driven ertiga and the power is very low compared to mobilio

You can buy 2 ertiga's for the price of one Innova. Now you can buy 3 ertiga's for the price of one innova crysta. The fact that its still competing with innova itself makes it a winner. Kudos to MSIL a practical and great product and is priced very well too. Also add to that the MSIL after sales service, no wonder its selling in good numbers even today.

The Ertiga's structure is very instable. I really hope Maruti starts to build strong cars for our market. The thing is only Maruti can build strong cars as people buy them even if they have to pay a small premium over other brands. Still Maruti makes them with cardboard like build quality. Sad, Ertiga is a perfect car for my family. We just cannot consider it when we take safety into account.

Renault lodgy is the clear winner good in price very smooth to drive and good for long journey ...main important thing average of this car 20 plus ..i m using renault lodgy from one year this is the best 8 seater 7 adults and one child

IN MY PLACE, Speed and Maneuver (I guess i spelled it wrong) isn't something to be given a BIG deal with. It's comfort and safety that counts a lot, so as the Boot Space and amount of passengers. I'd go with innova all the way. (There's a 7 seater option if you want it)
When Dont u Autocar reviewers are not saying about safety in any reviews? , I do think leaving out tata aria and mahindra xylo is not far when u have innova in top 4 , the mostly pricey car here is innova , (what u get )- good comfort and reliability and space , (what u lose) - too pricey , less safety , less fuel efficient , noisy diesel engine , out dated performance.
Tata aria - prices less when compared with innova, but what u get in aria is - reasonable comfort , higher fuel efficiency than innova , best highway cruiser , good amount of space , best equipment list , best and top safest features , and a part time 4 wheel drive system , projector head lights. What u lose is - reliability , ASS

Best seats - lodgy and xylo
Comfort - xylo and lodgy
Fuel efficiency - mobilio and lodgy
Best performence - lodgy 110ps and xylo

Then comes ertiga and enjoy , ertiga is the true value for money package
Ertiga - good comfort , good highway stability , good fuel efficiency , good amount of space , has good amount of safety features , less pricey , good ASS .
Enjoy - less pricey and good amount space and reasonable fuel efficiency
Nissan evalia - buy who has to do more commercial work and best city 7 people carrying mover and but long travel ?????
So here we are , people who want reliability and comfort and doesn't want to drive over 100 kmph buy innova but is too pricey , people who is going to clock more kilometers soon and want to travel long trip and want best safety , best highway cruiser , nice comfort , good amount of space - buy aria but its not as reliable ( up to one 1/2 or 2 lakh kilometers ) as Toyota and ASS are not as equal as maruti , buy ertiga if u want to carry 7 people with least boot space and good value for money ( least price tag) , the lodgy and mobilio are fan buying vehicles who love their brand and lodgy wins in comfort and mobilio wins in fuel efficiency , other than this all are same in both vehicles , xylo who want an SUV look and good comfort and space

Innova is still the MPV to buy,Tried and tested .Great after sale service, Excellent Resale value .Lodgy does not have wide service network expensive spare parts.
It seems that you underestimate Xylo. Mahindra Xylo is become more reasonable & best cross-over MUV. Innova is good but in terms of long distance driving/travelling Xylo proves best.
Mahindra xylo is best, always loving it in mpv's section, it's better than innova that's for sure :-)
The innova seems old school, but i think it is still the king of MPV, as it got ladder on frame chassis, it heavy, but you know, its much stronger, even in crash it could resist much better than monocoque like the rest, and could repaired seperately, we are in India and think about that, it got the largest engine but very basic, and reliable, the rest makes better or same power and torque, but the are modern engine using high compression injector to make that much power, and its really complicated and expensive to repair...And last i am in Leh ladakh, and here our no. 01 taxi is INNOVA, its easy to start in winter sub minus 20 degrees, it is rugged, and reliable, only problem is its ground clearance at the top, the front bumper touches even we try to cross some small potholes....Good luck toyota.....
In terms of sheet space offered, isn't lodgy more sensible if you want to buy utility specific MPV? The 56 seat combinations as mentioned in aci's other review says a lot!
innova was a successor to the qualis.but I think they messed up . they should have given next gen qualis instead.
xylo has the best third row and powerful engine

Hi, I am planing to buy Ertiga cng (9.5L) and same time looking for resale option as well as mony concerns. Planned to buy in festival time. But, Just got offer on Honda mobilio for resale i-vtech V (2014 - 20k running - 6.00L). Should I go for Mobilio or stick with ertiga cng. Running is not much 10000 per year. Can someone suggest me..? bit confused..!

Ertiga would have been the best one for Egyptian market except for terrible delay in delivery.
Yet the Innova is not available in our market due to the huge taxes on engines over 1.6 L.
Honda Mobilio isn't available also as Honda dealer is also the agent for Toyota, yet they provide Toyota Avanza only.
Lodgy is available only in Manual transmission, which is not promising for crowded city drivers.
The point of buying MPV's is passenger comfort. Most owners will sit-in the back seat. They will look for space, comfort, silence, good suspension, good interiors, decent features. They won't bother about the quality of driving. That's why I think Innova and Lodgy are excellent. Ertiga is shit, Mobilio is okay. Innova has the best interiors but Lodgy is cheaper. I think it's a tie between Innova and Lodgy

I own a Ford eco sport but I had to go to a trip to Kerala from Mumbai I always wanted to drive my car but we had 6 passenger's so I got my cousins innova 2015 model it was like a luxury from the backseat but it was a terrible mess at the cockpit lacking some torque I guess compared to my eco sport and I struggled innova to get above 90 where I could get above 120 in Coimbatore roads in my eco sport I think this issue is solved in the new innova crysta

Good comparison aci. I think lodgy could actually give a tough competition to its competitors. A test drive made me feel that way.
nice video u kno what u can fill ton of passengers in lodgy with the luggage the lodgy will not let u down but there is lack of service center n all thats why people thinks 100 times before go for it other wise its a brilliant machine but here the practical mpv will be HONDA Mobilio its the most practical car u should go for and if u have money u can afford the maintainance costs n all things then nothing doing just go for INNIOVA that will be best choice the toyota engine lasts long

+Tapan Bhanot no doubts that lodgy failed on launching but when you compare lodgy with its competitors then lodgy is more spacious, comfort, safety and lot more. Renault lodgy failed coz of their poor marketing and branding strategies!

Ertiga is just an overgrown hatch (and priced like it) and mobilio is an estate (streched hatch-estate). Lodgy's non adjustable middle row is not very practical. You guys should have loaded em up with atleast six people on board for the test.
ertiga is faster in plain road but rocky road ertiga is slower but ertiga is comfortable than any car
Renault Lodgy failed only because of quirky exterior styling especially at the back. With a good design it would have been a blockbuster. Renault just ruined their own party.
Lodgy is the champion, no doubt. Innova is over-priced, no two ways about it. Ertiga is a huge compromise, doesn't even belong to this competition. And lastly, Mobilio, a decent car let down by its unrefined "grumpy" engine and a dash that is taken straight out of an 80's corolla. YUK!
trippinghard In which way the Ertiga is HUGE compromise?? It is by far more comfortable on all 7 seats and next to the Innova only. It's the best flexible, value package here
Dhananjayan Kausshik MS has never really mastered the art of "ride quality". Lodgy, Innova and Mobilio just rides a lot better. And in the MUV segment, nothing really matters more than ride-comfort. And the DDiS engine, it does not belong to this segment. Cubic capacity matters. As I said, it is a compromise car given MS's wide service network n' all, but apart from that, nothing much else to talk about it.
For you maybe ride quality matters. But others wouldn't want to waste extra money just for only that factor. Value, highway abilities and comfort matters most for this segment which the Ertiga provides in a very good package. Other cars in this segment are compromised quite higher than the Ertiga in some or the other department. Ertiga is the only UV in this segment which provides the best compromise and combination of the factors necessary for this segment.
Dhananjayan Kausshik I think you don't understand. Ride quality quite literally refers to comfort and composure of cars, and not just on highways. Most Asian cars fare pretty badly on this front. Ride quality has been an European car forte so far in India (Innova is kind of an exception). Compare XUV with Duster, Punto/Polo with Swift, Rapid with Verna, or Octavia with Elantra. You can find a common theme. It is no different with Ertiga, typical Maruti with very average ride-comfort. It's a very good handling package though since it is based on Swift platform.
trippinghard The ride quality may not be as great as the Lodgy, but in NO WAY that's a deal-breaker. It's absorbent and comfortable enough for most types of bad roads as I have experienced. By the way, in the Lodgy, the plush ride quality is just a consolation point for the 3rd row passengers as they will be in discomfort already. To me, the front row seats are very small and the ingress-egress of the 2nd row is painful and the space as well is very minimal. The deal-breaker for the Lodgy is actually the looks, limited space and comfort (I'm around 5'10") and the high price. It's 14L on -road here whereas the Ertiga is around 11L excluding offers. To me the Ertiga is the better all-rounder and has the best combinations of all the good factors a compact MPV needs, at a much more affordable price. The Ertiga facelift is coming soon as well; with more equipment, efficiency and better driveability. Rivals, better watch-out.
I stick on Ertiga umm but climbing hill area with 7+ baggage is hard I used to go Cochin to Munnar every two months
Next what to buy more mileage and good ground clearance

Which one is best 7 sitter car out of Datsun Go Plus, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Renault Lodgy for traveling 250 km daily on National Highway. And also provide good safety, be in budget, provide comfort for long distance and provide good mileage.
Loddgy = good mileage, good space, premium interior, less price , also good brand compare to innova.. But still innova is best in mpv segment . I don't understand why? If any one knows pls reply me

Ertigas petrol engine feels more powerful and there is no lagging acceleration. If drive ertiga in HW feels so comfortable with petrol engine. It is a HW cruiser

Can auto car tell me/or guide me about the performance of AC because in my test ride i feel AC not so effective and more noisy . Interior plastics are not so good like switch of light at the roof. Auto car please comment.

+Raj Shekhar Ok got it. I just want to say that Auto car must have not consider some point which are very important for Indian customer. One thing which I found it is, feel inside car. Interior of Innova and Ertiga is so much better than Mobileo that u feel like u should own one. (I have not checked Lodgy yet). If I am going to buy car I am not going to check 0 to 100 or in gear acceleration. I simply check the feel offer by car while driving. Cost and easy of maintenance and mileage. If I remove the honda badge from Mobile, I bet it won't sell even 500 cars per month. It is simply selling on good will created by Honda City.
The Renault is the winner,maruti suzuki ertiga should work on the body,back side is way low and small.bring the Toyota hiace.

Still I'm able to open the door from inside. Which is biggest fault in the safety of the car.
There is no door lock provided to prevent opening the car door at high speed.

Innova supporters have to understand the sales figures for innova are that high because it is used as a fleet vehicle which in its own is not something very prestigious. It is the most common taxi vehicle in India and I dont get it how people say it is a pleasure to drive it? Isnt that why Toyota doesnt take much efforts with Innova? No facelift, no cosmetic upgrades, continuing same old design after a decade while bringing newer better cars in European markets. Disappointing. Durability is not everything and who says other brands like Honda or Renault cannot offer durability? How would you know the future? The steering of Innova is actually heavy and 5 speed manual gearbox is a turn off, max power for innova after 2500 rpm in full load while lodgy does the same in 2250 rpm and also comes with 6 gears.
