Tracy Welling well, as of writing this comment, there is another kyosho pedal popper chassis with brand new engine on ebay. Might be worth getting

Are you trying to fully restore it to original factory spec or do you just want to get it running? In the latter case you could probably just stick any small-block engine in there.
