I took a version of adderall for a few weeks called vyvanse for ADHD and This one didn't help at all and gave me psychotic episodes. Then I switched to concerta which helped a lot. But then I quit it completely and started using medical cannabis. It's legal here in Oklahoma now.

I was looking for more of a scientific explanation. Like maybe that crystal meth is a triple methylated amphetamine and it’s able to pass through the blood brain barrier. Or that it doesn’t need to be metabolized in order for it to work.
Once meth is delivered, you receive all of it at once and get extremely fucking high, like it’s unbelievable just how high you get from it. But with adderall, the four different amphetamine salts (two amphetamine, two dextro-amphetamine) need to be processed in the body somehow in order for the drug to be absorbed and delivered to the brain.
The chemical structures are similar, yet different. You cannot get all of the same effects from adderall as you do with meth... Maybe with super teeny tiny doses of it?
I dunno, but that’s what I’m looking for. Anybody have any suggested videos or articles on this?

Not everyone loses all their morals when addicted to crystal meth/ice, I must admit I was brought up with strong morals/values, I smoked ice everyday for at least 5yrs & smoked around 2-3 times per week for around 5yrs before using everyday. I never stole or abused anyone, I worked, payed my bills, was a great mum, payed for my kids private school fees for 18yrs etc. The only thing I did was kept my drug use a secret from my family & friends. I stopped using 2yrs ago when I could no longer afford it, I do still miss it as I no longer have the energy & motivation it gave me. I am proof not all addicts are bad, some addicts can remain good functional people. I started using occasionally as a recreational party drug, then as I got older with more responsibility & worked around 50hrs per week plus had two children to care for life gets hetic, I didn't have enough energy to do everything I needed to do so then started using abit for energy, this continued for a few years but drugs never came first for me my family always came first. Then tragedy struck my family when my husband died from cancer, to cope I started using more & more til I stopped working and no longer have much money. Please don't assume all addicts are the same because they're not.

Im the same way and it makes so many of the ones who let it control themselves and chase the high. I've never in my life chased a high I know that you are only going to get to a point a few times and you won't get there again. Set a budget and stick to it when out your out you didn't plan properly or you had fun with it and that costs some at some point but you don't get to re-up before the normal time. And no this lady is an example of the worst ones I've never sold any of my 1000s of dollars of tool I've held a job infact went from working 12-14 hours a day to 16-18 hours a day and fixed my credit bought a house and all after spitting up with my ex after 12 years together and building several businesses and all and had to start over on alot of it because I was not the money in the situation I was the brains and labor of it. Unfortunately that is not looked at at the same level as who is the name on the loan or paperwork and being I had a ton of medical bills and student loans putting anything with my name was not a good option especially when we started I was 26-27 so still young and had 3.5million in medical bills and 100000 in student loans witch obviously anyone can guess that with the medical bills I wasn't likely current on my student loans and likely had a few judgements against me unfortunately my loans werrr the predatory type and even if I was making six figures+ I would have struggled to pay them as the payments combined on them was 2500 a month (5 loans and I was never in a position to refinance and get the lower payments and combine for lower interest so basically 5 20000$ loans and a payment for each due every month) plus a the late fees and added interest it was a blessing when they finally sued me and got a judgement as it drastically lowered the interest rate and stopped most of the fees that I was being charged. So when we split i dumped all the energy and time I was used to putting in working for my self and running several rentals a small auto diesel and equipment repair shop snow plowing in the winter handyman and plumbing electrical HVAC repairs for a handful of friends that had rentals and needed a good person who they could trust and give them a fair deal and depending on how busy I was I always had a few days a month spent helping out the farmer I started working for when I was 16 and was basically family to me. Don't let people like this one be the picture of the typical type of people that you think of . Infact these are the minority of people who are using. There's not as many people who are good and open about it and it does make it hard to be open about it cause people instantly throw u into a mold that is not anything like reality

Gotta disagree that meth makes you loose your morals and make you look like a zombie. It can, but I know people who've used it for years and you wouldn't know it by looking at them. They may get super paranoid at times but they still have strong morals. Not trying to defend it's use, I know the horrible effects it can have on one's life, just wanted to shed light on the stereotype.

I’ve been clean over 10 years now. It was always discussed back in the day that good crystal had a very calming effect. It also made me emotionally detached from everything. My dog died in front of me and it didn’t phase me when I was high. I loved that dog like a child. It hit me like a brick when I started coming down though. That was a revelation to me on how that stuff was affecting me at the time...truly one of the most evil substances on earth.

  • @matthewtop
    @matthewtop 4 роки тому +15

Calmness does not equal attentiveness. I think you misunderstand how ADHD works. Not everyone becomes hyperactive and even if they do, the objective is not to calm them down, its to make them focus. They are not 'hyper' because of excess energy; they are hyper because they are distracted by far more stimulating things going on in their enviroment or their mind. I am not so sure Aderall is such a good treatment due to its potency and potential for abuse, but a good ADHD med is not ment to calm to reinforce focus, its ment to stimulate to reinforce focus.

    • @turboeddude4849

Cindy Wofford the reason it made him more hyper was because he was happier as there are anti depressant qualities to strattera. In fact Strattera is actually a sedative drug like anti depressants are. (I’m currently on it FYI used to be on Vyvanse but they put me on Strattera when I went to rehab 2 months ago)

    • @bunky97
      @bunky97 5 років тому +4

I wouldn’t call it a sedative considering it’s a NRI, norepinephrine being a precursor to adrenaline. But it’s definitely not a stimulant. If it were then an NDRI such as bupropion would be scheduled with Cocaine when in reality it’s not even close.

I have ADHD more of an ADD because my hyperactivity is in my brain, if I’m off meds I’m thinking a hundred miles per minute and I can’t stay focused on one activity, and I don’t want to do chores because it’s too much and it’s constant and it’s boring, I know that sounds so dumb but I literally can’t bring myself to get up and go do it. When I’m on adderall I’m able to get everything I have to do done and then some, because I’m focused on the task and I’m not thinking too much about it. I recently went through a rough time because the amount I was on was not helping me at all, I would lay in bed and sleep for the majority of the day, I was depressed and felt like crap, but as soon as my dr changed my meds I was up and getting things done.
Everyone is different but in my case I don’t feel high on adderall, I just feel energized and I feel like my mind just shuts down and I get done what I have to get done without procrastinating and feeling sluggish. Also I don’t get irritable by the smallest thing.

ADHD patient here! My Adderall literally puts me to sleep. I take it as prescribed once in the morning. By 1pm I am actually struggling to stay awake. It doesn't give me energy AT ALL. But it has allowed me to focus and complete projects that I have never been able to.
I used to be all over the place and forgetful about everything!! I couldn't even read a book because I would start fidgeting and get distracted about other things. I could actually be reading the words of the paragraph while thinking about what I'm going to do for dinner.
Then I would have to go back and read the paragraph again to grasp the concept of what it said. Sometimes I had to do this 3 or 4 times. I suffered my entire childhood with ADHD and my father didn't believe in giving the medicine to me instead he ""fixed me with a belt and a one hitter of weed"". So I grew up believing that ADHD was bad and never got the help I needed and ended up never finishing college, never being able to stay at a job for long because I would lose interest, and just really screwed a lot of my life away because I lived untreated for so long. My Adderall has literally helped me for once see life with clarity and now I want to complete all of my goals before I'm too old. It's bittersweet. Because this could have worked out so much differently for me if
I would have been given treatment as a child instead of abuse. I want people to please stop giving stimulants like Adderall a bad rep..... If you don't have ADHD you don't understand just how lucky you are. So please if you're chasing a high, think about that first.
I hope that helps someone to understand how amazing this medication can be for those of us who actually benefit from it.

I agree with most of what you said. I take Adderall, but I take it for legitimate Inattentive ADHD (ADD). It has never felt like a stimulant or given me a high. I have no desire to take more medication than what was prescribed, and I've never experienced withdrawals of any kind when I've stopped taking it cold turkey.
With that said, it's a shame that there are still a number of individuals who are being misdiagnosed with ADD/ADHD. When it's for legitimate ADD/ADHD, it's life changing for the better, but, when it's not, addiction and a built up tolerance level can become the result. It can also become a gateway drug, which is tragic.
FYI: Yes, Strattera is a medication used to treat ADD/ADHD, but it is not a stimulant.

Hmm, I’m torn, the video as a whole is done with good intentions, however, I became unsure of the information I was receiving as soon as strattera was thrown in as a stimulant, which it is not, I being someone diagnosed with ADHD, have been prescribed both Strattera and Adderall, and strattera although it does work for some, did not for me. The reason I went with this first was because it was not a stimulant, regardless, the point I am trying to make with this comment is to please make sure what is being said is correct.

Thank you for your content and I appreciate your expertise and the information you've shared about Adderall being strictly prescribed for ADHD and ADD.
However, it's essential to highlight that while Adderall is primarily approved for these conditions, it is sometimes prescribed off-label for other medical conditions following a rigorous risk-benefit analysis by a healthcare provider. For example, I am prescribed Adderall for Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD) under the close supervision of my psychiatrist.
Off-label prescribing is a common and legitimate practice in medicine, often based on substantial clinical evidence, even if the medication has not received regulatory approval for that specific use. This is especially true for conditions like TRD, where patients have failed to respond to standard treatment options and may need alternative therapeutic approaches.
I believe it's crucial for healthcare professionals and the public to be informed about the nuanced ways medications like Adderall can be used, always under appropriate medical supervision. Open dialogue about these practices helps ensure better patient care and broadens our understanding of medication utility beyond their primary approved indications.
Thank you for your time and for sharing your medical insights.
    Best regards,
    Falco

Its easier to point a finger at someone or something. And as for adderall i take everyday like in supposed to for 15 years but for a period between that time i couldnt get my medicine cuz i didnt have health care so i did meth a few times a day to make up for that. And i slept everynight and ate right like i was supposed too. Now im on my meds like im supposed to. But its the person whose to blame for there life falling to shit , not the drug. You were incorrect about how adhd is that you can't focus. Adhd is when you focus on everything around you. You are not interested in boring tasks and you seek stimulation. When you have adhd you are always looking to reward yourself by doing what you want rather than what's boring. You play games rather than going to school or work. You lose interest in your relationships easily. There's a lot more to it than just not being able to focus. It's sort of upsetting to see so many likes on this topic when a lot of what you say is opinion based.

Now I'm switching back because my schizophrenia has gotten so much better. I lost control of my life and damn near lost everything because I didn't understand what was not real. Thank God the mental hospital took me off of it. I'm a very OCD [I get stuck in repeat sometimes] and Adderall keeps me in-the-moment all the time. Where as normally, I become 90% instinct. I'm also Autistic and it allows me to hyperfocus 95% of the time. That's the addicting part. I'm ADHD.

I speak from 2 decades of using experience ... the reason you feel that way is due to depleting levels of dopamine alongside the deterioration of its receptors resulting from continual 'burn-through' - which prohibits the natural recycling process of this chemical . Dopamine is highly attributed to the sense of motivation, among other things: its role in mood/behavior; it is also utilized by the body for fluidity in motion- 'uninterrupted' form during movement as opposed to 'choppy/stuttered' activity. As you try coming off the drug, keep in mind that the euphoric highs you experienced in the previous days were, essentially, 'short-lived bursts' of VAST concentrations stolen from stored amounts of intended 'future' dopamine that would have otherwise contributed to a 'balanced overall average behavioral norm' to be dispersed over weeks (if not months or longer). Without subsequent usage to create a 'resurgence', your faculties are left to have at very 'slim pickings' - until the body/brain's processes can establish a new equilibrium from the remaining capabilities of an already finite 'producable' amount. I don't wish to sugarcoat things for you - Its a slow, grueling experience, one which gets worse before it gets better- BUT IT DOES GET BETTER - IF YOU STICK IT OUT! It's up to you to decide just how badly you wish to emerge from that. It only becomes harder the longer you put it off. The sooner you stop, the nearer you are to being 'that-much-closer' in your recovery... and its 95% mental

I knew that all my use would take its toll eventually. I'm still relatively young- I do not have bad cholesterol, heart disease, nor obesity yet I have almost daily occurrences of mini-heart attacks (also called silent or mild)- many of which happen during even the most minimal efforts of physical activity (they are also only suspected to worsen- WITH or WITHOUT treatment) and that's not even the worst. At 37 years of age, I already show 4 of the 7 MAJOR indicators for early-onset of Parkinson's (a neurological disorder due to dopamine depletion and receptor deterioration). It doesn't depress/scare me- though I don't look forward to the high-probability likelihood of that in my future- I "made that bed", so I'm prepared to lay in it. I also don't say this to startle you, rather I hope you glean wisdom from someone else's experiences to avoid a very real potential for you and your health in similar outcomes. In short pills are not skills. My suggestion is to find someone to help you gain the skills and coping mechanisms while at the same time following your doctor’s advice. The most important thing is to listen to the people you go to for professional advice. Doctors and therapists will know your situation way better than us internet people. There is not one size fits all solution. It takes time and there are many ups and downs. Life doesn’t get easier for anyone we just get better at dealing with it as we grow.
Also it’s okay to try different doctors and therapist until you find the ones you trust and connect with.

Ok one thing that you said that is not correct is that you are putting Strattera into the same category as Adderall and Ritalin when it’s not. Although they’re all used to treat ADD/ADHD, Adderall and Ritalin are stimulants while Strattera is not. Adderall and Ritalin are both Schedule 2 controlled substances meaning they have a high potential for abuse and need to be prescribed monthly by your doctor (no refills). While Strattera on the other hand isn’t even a controlled medication meaning it has no potential for abuse (although I’m sure there are exceptions) and your doctor could prescribe it with refills. So Strattera even if you don’t have ADHD will not give you an energetic or euphoric high.

I wrote this comment as a response on a video on UA-cam, where this woman is saying something about it that i don't agree with 100%. The Video
And i figured maybe some of you agree and that the tips i have to counter the side effect would help you guys as well. So here you go.
You know what. It depends! I mean i had that high energy ADHD thing going on when i was younger up to 25 years old. But then it did a complete turn and i got introverted instead and no energy at all to talk or be all over the place anymore. But my mind was still ADHD and my thoughts where all over the place! Could not concentrate at all, just thinking and thinking and thinking about 1000 of things. Middle of a movie i would think about something like say "Why do armpits have that bad special sweat odor" out of nowhere, and i just had to google it before continuing with my movie. And that happens 10+ times before the movie ends with random stuff i think about. So in that sense Adderall give me back that ADHD type of personality in that way that i get very social and out going and all my social phobia goes away completely, and i can make music and my videos with such force and enthusiasm now, and my thoughts gather more in 1 place instead of going all over the place! So it's not exactly what you think about it, it's more to it.
It really helps me, something like a miracle! If i have those days without the side effects that is.
So it's not that simple. But yeah you are right that even when a normal person takes it, it will make him/her high just as anyone else, (besides those with ADHD body energy because they will get calm instead) It does not mean that it won't do anything for someone like me that have ADD which had ADHD before. That ADHD is still here, but not the bodily ADHD, instead it's in my mind now, my brain is in ADHD mode.
And Adderall brings that bodily ADHD forward again in a very positive sense this time and with focus, so i am more like a normal person now, and I'm not having chaos in my mind and i´m not having "no motivation" or "no energy" to talk, or to do anything that i love and have talent for, because my mind is going 10000 thoughts a sec. Instead it makes me more whole as a person and brings forward my talents that i have so i can use it and not just letting it go to waste, or even life as it is, like socializing or going for dates. It really has changed my life. My findings after reasearch is that it has to do with problems in the brain when it comes to producing Dopamine. So Dopamine seems to be the big culprit. And Medicines like Adderall fixes that connection/producing Dopamine connections in the brain so that you get your life back your motivation back. Not everyone get´s the same WOW effect of course but you can´t ignore the fact that many does!
So people like in my situation really benefits from it big time. I feel alive again! Just wanted to share this :)
P.S My personal tip to minimize the side effects i found out by trial and error, is to make sure to take it exactly the same time in the day. So that you make sure 24 hours has gone by before next dose. Because i really think it somehow builds up in your body more and more so you get some kind of a overdose which leads to pain in nerves and stiffness and sore muscles. Because it has not gone 24hours so there is still remains of the Adderall in the blood/body. And drink minimum of 3 liters of water "0.792516 US gal" and take magnesium supplement before your dose. And don't forget to eat some salt during the day with your meal. You need salt magnesium and potassium "potassium found in bananas, or potatoes, just look it up" These things binds the water in your body so that your cells and nerves gets the water they need it works as a cushion for them also reducing the pain. These are what i found out after many times of painful side effects from Adderall, but being able to manage them now if i do what i just wrote.

You got so many things wrong when describing what meth does to people! This isn't the case for all users. Drugs don't change people. Drugs will only bring certain behaviors to the surface which were being suppressed, just like alcohol does. Meth enhances ur more positive traits and enhances ur more negative traits in the opposite direction.

Why would anybody listen to you about this?
You really don’t have a clue, it’s like you’ve seen a couple of episodes of breaking bad and then made this video but the part that made me cringe was when you said you don’t wanna know what they make it with, that sucks… know as much as you can THEN maybe go making a video

As long as you continue to take adderall as prescribed (probably once a day), you shouldn’t get addicted. Only when you stop following the prescription order and maybe take two to “be more focused” is when addiction could begin. That’s not even how adderall works though, it’s not like more adderall=more focus. No, it’s about getting the right dosage that works best for your brain.
So you’re not all gonna get addicted to meth if you take adderall. If you do meth however, regardless of taking adderall, you’ll probably get addicted….

I see the same comments as I go down the list; "I'm prescribed Adderall but afraid of becoming addicted". Do yourself a favor and go buy a time delay safe or container online. You can even buy USB rechargeable padlocks that can be programmed to remain locked until a specified time has elapsed. I have a programable safe and a lockbox with a USB rechargeable padlock for when I travel. This prevents me from abusing it recreationally because I know what having an addictive personality is like and I know the potential for abusing adderall.

Just fount this. I will be open about this, all of my life I've been considered “distracted” child, as kid it was an issue for many reasons, I now live my life doing home office freelance. I recently smoked meth for the first times and I noticed something, unlike my friends getting all hyped I actually felt more focused, all tough also felt the paranoia, I started doing it to get work done and I have done a lot of work done thanks to smoking it, but I don't wanna be depended on it... I am now thinking to go to psychotherapy and hopefully get a prescribed drug.

Adderall makes me awake and able to focus and do things. Without it I would sleep all day, I remember I was at the mental hospital, and for the physxiatrist to see if I needed it, she quit me cold turkey and that whole week(?) I can't remember any of it. It is a blur to me. Im not sure if I am adhd or not, but without this medication I cant function. I'm on a low dose because ahy higher my anxiety will act up. But it truly is my life saver

She doesnt need to be a doctor. In fact no credential can ever surpass a first hand, real experience through addiction, as opposed to someone who posseses only an intellectual knowledge of it. Someone "knowing" about substances because they buried their face in paper and ink is superficial in their understanding of 'hell' and the loss of dignity/humanity, contrary to someone who lost their soul and became restored of it after "living" through 'hell'.

This video encapsulates why our drug treatment model is a complete failure, and the presenter has zero knowledge to qualify her to speak about ADHD or stimulants for ADHD.

Yes, I see patients on several doses of both immediate release and extended release Adderall. However, doses do not go down. In addition, there is amphetamine addiction epidemic in the US these days.

OK here’s the thing Meth is also a prescribed medication methamphetamine hydrochloride is prescribed under the brand-name Desoxyn and it is prescribed for the exact same thing that Adderall is prescribed for. It is an ADHD medication. The only difference between methamphetamine and amphetamine is the methyl molecule allows it to cross the blood brain barrier do not put out these videos that further, the effect of stigma from people on street drugs, made from trash, have on people with ADHD, because that actually illuminates a very valid medical option which is methamphetamine, and it also completely ignores the fact that many of these poor souls that are using the street drug methamphetamine, or doing so also as part of the chain of stigma because they are so reluctant to prescribe the actual pharmaceutical medication that is not made from cleaning products you were doing a disservice with this video

Someone with inattentive adhd often experience a slight increase in energy along with the normal increase in focus, since their adhd doesn’t involve hyperactivity. Fatigue and low energy is common with inattentive adhd.

Adderall is an amphetamine which is simply the first generation or form of the stimulant known as meth.
Then the second derivative is methamphetamine which is a more concentrated, water soluble form of meth.
Then comes crystallized methamphetamine which is the third and purest form of meth.
So Adderall is simply a pharmaceutical form of meth made in a lab without restriction so they can use proper chemicals and make them safe for medical treatments.
Adderall is the same as meth/crystal meth only it is the first derivative and less powerful them methamphetamine or crystallized methamphetamine.
This drug (Adderall) or amphetamines where one of the first stimulants known as Benzedrine which was produced in the 1920s.

2:15 you are plainly wrong. ADD & ADHD, the big difference is between the two is that ADD is very chill, down to earth kinda like a high hippy (while being sober) but can't concentrate, the world spins to fast for them.
ADHD, you're often faster than the world spins. You're literally the opposite of a calm, high hippy.
It's true, that these stimulants do give you the opposite effect. But they give the opposite effect what your sober-self is.
So ADHD can become like a zombie when taking these pills, but they will be focused. ADD will become more of a fast rabbit, but probably a bit anti social or cocky.
The antisocial side is a side effect because people around you won't be efficient enough for your liking (ADD on meds)
But for ADHD this anti social effect will take place if you're too efficient for their liking, you have to slow down for them (ADHD on meds).
Maybe you learned something new, maybe not, I'm just trying to help people out here :)
